I have no minus red button to delete photos with?

I have unknowing downloaded too many photos on my iPad 3, as now my others apps do not work and it indicated "low memory" alread
and I just got this 16GB which I thought would hold a lot of info.

Photos that were taken with the iPad (or any photos in the camera roll) can be deleted right on the iPad. Tap the trash can icon in the top right corner if you are viewing the pho,to in full screen, or if you are viewing as thumbnails - tap the arrow in the upper right corner - tap the photos that you want to delete and then tap - Delete.
Photos that were synced from your computer using iTunes can only be deleted by de-selecting them from the folder from where they were synced -  and then re-syncing.

The only way you can do that is to import them into your library first, but you may have done that already.
The easiest way to tell is to select a photo from the photostream album in iPhoto and ctrl-click on it, if it gives you the option to import it isn't in your iPhoto library, if it offers you the option to show in library it has already been imorted.

  • Recovering deleted photos with Time Machine

    Hi,
I've recently deleted some photos I had in Aperture (deleted from the event and then cleared the recylcing bin). I do however have and run Time Machine but I can't seem to get hold of the lost files.
Essentially all I need to know is where is the "trash" folder in the Aperture directory?
If it helps to explain the issue, here is the sequence of events:
    1) Downloaded photos into Aperture
    2) Moved some photos into the trash bin
    3) *Time Machine Syncs"
    4) I empty trash
When I run time machine at the moment in the aperture library, I can only see the not-deleted photos as expected based on the above events.
Any ideas on how I can recover the photos if it's at all possible?
    Thanks
    Adam

There is no Trash bin in the Aperture library package, where you can access the image files.  But until you actually empty Aperture's Trash, the image files will remain in the Masters folder inside the Aperture library, package exactly where they have been stored after importing. Aperture only indexes them differently in the database files.  If you still know, the exact date when you imported the missing photos, ctrl click the Aperture Library package in the Finder, use "Show Package Contents" and open the "Masters" folder. Open the subfolder for the year of the import, the month, the day:
With this Finder window selected, enter Time Machine and look for the missing photos in that folder.
If you emptied Aperture's trash, the files will have been moved to the Trash on the Desktop. Look for it there in your Backup.

  • Delete Photos with a twist / After installing iCloud

I'm struggling here. I have read all the information on how to delete pictures, but they are all making the assumption you are not using iCloud, or are trying to delete from the Photo Stream - that isn't my case.
    Here's my situation:
    1. I am using an iPAD1, iOS5, also using iCloud
    2. My Host PC is also synced up using iCloud for my iPAD
    3. I had photos on my iPad from before I upgraded to iCloud, and they are all on my iPad
    4. Now that I'm on iCloud, I cannot just unsync an Album as all those settings are now gone since I'm using iCloud, I have no options anymore in iTunes, the iPad shows up in iTunes, but I cannot do anything other then import my Photo Steam.
How do I delete photos off my iPad with this scenerio? I want a bunch of the old photos on my iPad gone, but this seems like it might be impossible.
    Appreciate any help in advanced.

How does this relate to iPhoto? sounds like a question for some other forum - iPad? iCloud (if there is one)? iTuens for the PC?

  • Delete photos with NO syncing!

I have been looking all over the message boards and have yet to find an answer. I have dozens of photos on my iPad that have never been synced to my computer, yet I can't delete them. Most of them were taken by my kids while playing with my iPad in the car, so there are tins of ceiling, wall and floor shots. :) I've tried everything short of syncing to try to get rid of these pictures; I don't sync up my iPad because I always have issues and lose things or get stuff added in that I never had selected to get put on there, so I haven't synced in well over a year and these pictures were taken last summer. I have been trying to get rid of them ever since, to no avail.
    Any solutions?

  • How to delete photos with no option to sync in iTunes

I'm trying to delete photo albums from my iphone 4s, but when connecting to iTunes, there is no 'photo' tab to allow me to re-sync and remove some albums. This is v2 of the phone, the original having drowned in a vegas pool, and not sure if the issue is from these photos basically being put on this phone from an icloud backup. Surely there's some way of deleting them though, right?!?!?!

Apple aren't here. As you're the only person with this problem that I've seen on here, I would suspect that its more a local problem on your machine than something Apple need to fix.
Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for the iPod Photo Cache.
Trash it. Start iPhoto and try sync again.

  • Deleted photos have come back?

When I take photos, I take many at a time. I then import into iPhoto 08 and delete the ones I don't like. All of a sudden today I've noticed that my library is full of old photos that I thought I deleted. I realise this is a strange problem to have (most people complain about accidentally deleting photos and wanting to get them back). But this is really annoying too! Any ideas about how to get my library back to the way it was?

    How are you deleting them?
The correct procedure is to remove the photos from the Library (either Events or Photos view, it doesn't matter) by putting them in the iPhoto trash, then going iPhoto Menu -> Empty trash. This removes the pics from iPhoto and the Hard Disk.
Putting pics in the trash from an Album simply removes them from that Album, not the Library.

  • Deleting photo's  ( taken on ipad2 camera ) on the camera roll directly from ipad

I am new to all this stuff....as Grannies are....but here goes...
I just got an iPad2 with the iOS5 ( the only apple device I have ). I have had it 8 Days....
I took some photos with the iPad2 camera then I transferred them to a new album, following the directions in the downloaded User's Guide.
    That worked OK.
Now I want to delete some photo's from the Camera Roll. Looked up how to delete from Camera Roll in the U/Guide which says...Open Camera, tap box in the lower L/H bottom corner, open a photo, then tap garbage bin.
I have done all this but instead of saying, in the red box, " Delete Photo ", as it should, it says " Delete Everywhere " which takes the photo out of the Camera Roll as well as the album it was put into. I tried it out once and it did delete from both places. !!!
Then when I open Photo's, then open an album and tap on a photo and follow what the U/Guide tells you to do, open a photo then tap the Garbage bin, I get the same message there too " Delete Everywhere "
There seems to be no way to change from Delete Everywhere to Delete Photo.   ????  AND it also altered a photo in another completely different album ( one that I synced from my PC ) in that, instead of a photo, I now have a light grey square with a question mark in the centre of it in place of the picture , yet when I tap on the grey square the photo then opens.  ????
    Can anyone help please ?

I have managed to find a fix for my problem .
I have discovered the following…..To Delete Photos from Camera roll.
If when you open “Camera” on your  iPad , you have photos on your camera roll that you haven’t put into an album directly from the camera roll in “ Photos” then you can Delete them as the User Guide  states eg. …Open Camera … tap the thumbnail box in the lower L/H bottom corner and a bigger display of thumbnails of your photos will appear….tap the box with the arrow in it on the upper R/H side….then tap on the thumbnail , this will put a blue circle with a white tick in it on the lower R/H corner of that thumbnail and the Red Delete button will come alive…..tap the delete button and you will get a drop down saying …Delete Photo…tap this and the photo will disappear and it will also disappear from the little thumbnail box in the lower L/H corner….do this with all photos …then tap Done……you will now have an empty camera roll.
HOWEVER…….if  in “ Photos” you have put any of these photos that are on the Camera roll album into other albums directly on your iPad you will NOT be able to delete them in this manner..….When you open “ Camera “ and pull up your thumbnails and follow the above process the Drop down from the Red Delete button will say…Delete Everywhere…meaning from the camera roll and the particular Album you have that photo in……in short you will loose the photo completely.
This next bit is for those of us who have PC’s that are not Apple.
I plugged my iPad into my computer via the Dock connector to USB cable that came with the iPad and copied the camera roll onto my PC using the Microsoft Photo Wizard  to load all the photos I had taken with my iPad camera onto my PC’s …My Pictures….they all transferred OK….I  disconnected the cable from the iPad to the PC.   Then on the PC with MY Pictures open  I sorted and renamed and created folders /albums to suit my needs…..
Now make Blank Folder in My Pictures  and leave it sit there  empty.
OK now time to clear the IPad of all the stuff I don’t want on there.
Now you can go back into “Photos” on the iPad and use the “Delete Everywhere” or button and it will do that.  You can also go back into “Camera” and make sure that all of the camera roll is deleted as well. You should end up with no Camera roll in either the Photos or Camera apps.
Pull up iTunes on the PC….Plug in the cable again….Click on Device name and you get a sync menu…click on photos …tick sync to iPad  and then choose selected albums…..and then tick the albums you wish to copy to your iPad and click on apply…..this will then only sync those photo albums you have ticked….Yay !
Now I had some problems with some photos disappearing and leaving just a light grey square with a question mark in it, in the place where the photo should have been ,whilst I was trying to delete the camera roll ( see first discussion) before I worked out a way to do it so I chose to Delete ALL the albums I had previously synced from my PC to fix that as well….and no, I don’t know what caused that to happen, however,
……… To do this I did as above…with the sync menu open click photos…then tick selected albums…. Then selected the  Blank Folder I had created earlier on my PC and Nothing else…...then click apply… your screen may ak if this is what you want to do.....this will delete all the photos on the iPad that have been synced on there before. ……
Now with everything back to blank screens you can go ahead and select those albums you do want on your iPad from your computer and resync .
This method has worked for this “ Granny “ and I didn’t have a huge amount of photos on the camera roll so it may be a bit long and laborious if you do have a gazillion photos on your camera roll and I don’t know about bulk deleting…….but I now have a working  iPad and only the Photos I want on it and no grey squares with question marks.
This may be a bit long winded as an article but I hope it can help someone else to sort out their problems, as I have now done, and after looking at many sites for help info there appears to be quite a bit of confusion out there with these apps.
    Happy Now...
    Granny 2012.

  • Delete photos from iPhone iOS 7

I cannot delete photos from my iPhone since I did the update to IOS 7.  I've searched the internet for answers, but nothing works!  Maybe I don't understand how photostream works, but it seems as though I have the same photos on my iPhone multiple times and to delete them, I have to do it one by one.
    Please help!!
    Thank you

    rainieer wrote:
If it were the regular Photo stream, the album would be called "My Photo Stream", so it is not rhe Photo Stream you are looking at, but a regular album or an album syned from your mac.
Have you ever synced the iPhone and iPad wit your computer using iTunes with iPhone Data Eraser? This really looks like the album "Photo Stream" is an album that has been synced to your iDevices using iTunes. Then they can only be removed by syncing again with iTunes, selecting to sync photos, but deselecting all photo albums in iTunes.
If it is a regular album, however, try to find the photos in your camera roll and delete photos from iPhone permanently. Then they will also vanish from the album. And photos, that have been edited, cannot be deleted at all, unless you revert them to original.
You can delete multiple photos off camera roll. Simply open the album "Camera Roll" (or which ever album contains the photos you wish to delete) and hit the edit button in the upper right hand corner. Touch the photos you want to get rid of and a red check will appear on them, then hit the delete button to delete photos from iPhone.

  • Please can someone help me with saving/deleting photos?

Hi, I know I am not using my iPhone correctly, but I am a busy mother and have been stacking up the photos on Camera Roll.  I now need to delete some, but want to keep some to show friends. I don't have time to trawl the forums looking for the answer so am really hoping someone will take pity on me and answer these simple questions, bearing in mind that I can't get to a computer to sync that often, so i am going to have lots of photos.
    1) How do you transfer photos from Camera Roll to an album using the phone?
    2) When I sync and photos are downloaded from my camera roll I get a pop up asking if I want to keep or delete the photos on my phone. If I choose Delete, will it delete just the photos in Camera Roll, or in the albums too?
    3) I have chosen Keep in the past and now have masses of photos on my camera roll.  Short of using the curved arrow in the top right and selecting each photo individually, is there a way to delete multiple photos all at once on the phone (not on computer)?
    4) Why oh why haven't Apple got a 'protect' button for individual photos so that you can keep a few photos in camera roll and delete the rest, like on a digital camera (yes I KNOW this isn't what Camera Roll is for...) It just makes so much sense.
    Thanks.

There isn't any "delete all" button for deleting photos on your phone.  The fastest way to delete photos is with your computer, but on the phone you will have to open the Camera Roll in thumbnail view, tap the arrow button on upper right, tap all the photos you want to delete, tap the Delete button.
When you delete photos from the Camera Roll they are also deleted from any albums they may be in.  Albums are like music playlists, they only contain pointers to the photos in Camera Roll to allow you to look at a filtered view of selected photos.  Just as deleting songs from your library will also remove them from any playlist, so too removing photos from Camera Roll removes them from any album.
As for why Apple doesn't have a "protect" button, you could offer that suggestion to Apple here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html.

  • Cannot delete photo where no Original File is available

I would like to delete some photos, I have discovered that the ones I am unable to delete do not have an original file associated with them, how can I delete these from within iPhoto
I know I can go to the iphoto file and delete that but then I'm just left with a blank screen or exclamation mark and I want to get rid of it permanently

    Well you have two options:
    1. Reconnect the photo with iPhoto or
    2. Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
However, remember that this process will leave behind all such files.

  • How to not delete photos on memory card once uploaded to iphoto??

    Hello!

    Please help?

What OS and version of iPhoto  --  prior to Lion
A good general step for strange issues is to renew the iPhoto preference file - quit iPhoto and go to "your user name" ==> library ==> preferences ==> com.apple.iPhoto.plist and trash it - launch iPhoto which creates a fresh new default preference file and reset any personal preferences you have changed and if you have moved the iPhoto library repoint to it. This may help
This does not affect your photos or any database information (keywords, faces, places, ratings, etc) in any way - they are stored in the iPhoto library - the iPhoto preference file simply controls how iPhoto works - which is why renewing it is a good first step.
