I have no sound for text, games, music, web.

This just started 4 days ago. The phone has not been wet. The silent button is not on, the do not disturb button is off. When I press the volume buttons for ringtone, only the ringer picture shows up but the volume buttons are not showing up. When I try to rest my phone it is asking for password, I have never set one. Please help?

Try playing music on the phone, and then try turing the volume button up, if the doesn't resolve the issue, then try resetting all your settings (this will delete any wi-fi network passwords that are saved on the device.) Have lost sounds for some games e.g. Solitaire. Others are ok but keyboard sounds have also gone. Sounds are ok with earphones. Have checked settings and they seem ok. Any ideas, please?

Have you got notifications muted ? That will mute notifications (including games), so the Music and Videos apps, and headphones, will still get sound.
If its an iPad Air 2 then notification mute and rotation lock are controlled via Control Centre : Turn on Mute and Orientation Lock on iPad Air 2 - Apple Support
If it's the first gen iPad Air then depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad above the volume switch, or via Control Centre : swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen and it's the right-most of the 5 icons in the middle of it (if the icon is white then it's 'on', tap it to turn it grey and 'off'). To solve some sound problems, just follow these simple steps

What this effectively does is to reset some of your Settings to factory default. It’s not a complete removal of settings. My sounds have stopped working for text, YouTube and music since in downloaded new software!

I'm not sure if this will help, but I went into my sounds setting and made sure that both the "vibrate on ring" and "vibrate on silent" were selected to "on." Once I did this, I was able to get the vibrating notification for a call received (as this had previously not been the case). Hope this helps.

I can't tell you WHY this worked but I'll share just in case...
I had the same problem. No sound, the volume control buttons did nothing. The sound icon would appear but no bars indicating the sound level.
My phone was NOT on mute, but I flicked the mute button anyway.
I don't know why or how, but that made the sound come back and the volume control buttons start working again.
(Just before this, I realized all my texts were gone - they came back with a reset but still!)

Recurring theme with the 4s losing alerts except for the phone ringing. Most complaints seem to center on the 7.1 upgrade. The fix is dodgy, putting in a charger, playing a you tube video then pulling out the charger and wiggling it until you get the sound back. When you get the sound back, the volume buttons start to work again. Alternate solutions involve cleaning the docking port with a toothbrush, running a pick over the electrodes etc.

There are two places where vibrations can be set.
One is the Settings > Sounds
The other area is Settings > Notifications

Yes.
You can authorize up to 5 computers to play itunes music ( pre-itunes plus). There is no limit on itunes plus ( all itunes music for the past several years) and imported music.
You can sync as many ipods/ipads/iphones as you like to each of your computers.

No, I'm not talking about iTunes. The music icon is orange with a dark brown series of notes. It should be in thel lower right side of your home screen.
If it's not there, you might try Settings > General > Reset > Reset home screen layout.

I am on a PAYG Everything Pack but have been charged for texts

Everything Pack is meant to give me Unlimited Texts but, on 28/07/15, I have been charged for texts to wife and son mobiles. Not happy. No point trying to find out via Twitter or Facebook as they won't tell you anything. No Live Chat facility.

I'm not sure why you would have been charged - unless it was a premium service, for example you were texting a charity to make a donation, but I can see you say it was just your wifes & sons mobile number, so yeah... contacting EE directly is probably the best course of action. I have checked “Search for text when I start typing” but it is not happening since your latest update. This is very important to me as I keyboard - not use the mouse. What can I do? Also, before the last update I could leave the window (alt+tab) and return and just type and it would type it is the search box. Now I have to take my hand off the keyboard and get the mouse three times for every search, slowing my work way, way down. What other flag do I need to put this back the way it was? I used Mpeg Streamclip last night to take the .mov files to DV, but same thing I put into iDVD and made a disk image. Once all done i opened the image and the videos were there, but no audio.
This first dvd had 2 of the videos in it the totaled about 90mins. I will try using the higher format. Also with having MPEG streamclip now, I guess I should go back to the .WMV files and try to converting form them? instead of the .mov files.

Latest update no sound for text, email, plugging in ipad

since the latest update a couple of days ago my iPad sounds will not work. I mean the ones for incoming text messages, emails, plugging the iPad in- ALL STANDARD SOUNDS OFFERED BY APPLE NOT downloaded sounds! This is very frustrating. I have synced my iPad on my computer, i have shut down the iPad numerous times, if anyone else is having this problem please let me know. If it's an Apple bug please fix it.

I think that you have system sounds muted.
If you lost sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds may have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the control center if you are running iOS 7 or iOS 8. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to get to control center . Tap on the bell icon and system sounds will return.
If you are running iOS 5 or iOS 6, the system sound control is in the task bar at the bottom. Double tap the home button and swipe all the way to the right in the task bar to get to the speaker icon on the left side. Tap on that and the sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock can be accessed in the same manner as described above.
