I have no sound on a Lightroom slideshow.

I have no sound on a Lightroom slideshow. Sometimes it works then the next time it doesn't. Even using the same track. I am using MP3 files. whats going on?

I'm having a similar issue.  Using Lightroom ver. 5.7  In the slideshow module with the audio option checked, it allows me to select a mp3 file for background music - then says the file is an unsupported format.  Result: no sound in preview or playback.
So is there a fix or what?

I need your help with a decision to use iPhoto.  I have been a PC user since the mid 1980’s and more recently have used ACDSee to manage my photo images and Photoshop to edit them.  I have used ProShow Gold to create slideshows.  I am comfortable with my own folder and file naming conventions. I currently have over 23,000 images of which around 60% are scans going back 75 years.  Since I keep a copy of the originals, the storage requirements for over 46,000 images is huge.  180GB plus.
I now have a Macbook Pro and will add an iMac when the new models arrive.  For my photos, I want to stay with Photoshop which also gives me the Bridge.  The only obvious reason to use iPhoto is to take advantage of Faces and the link to iMovie to make slideshows.  What am I missing and is using iPhoto worth the effort?
If I choose to use iPhoto, I am not certain whether I need to load the originals and the edited versions. I suspect that just the latter is sufficient.  If I set PhotoShop as my external editor, I presume that iPhoto will keep track of all changes moving forward.  However, over 23,000 images in iPhoto makes me twitchy and they are appear hidden within iPhoto.  In the past, I have experienced syncing problems with, and database errors in, large databases.  If I break up the images into a number of projects, I loose the value of Faces reaching back over time.
Some guidance and insight would be appreciated.  I have a number of Faces questions which I will save for later.

Bridge and Photoshop is a common file-based management system. (Not sure why you'd have used ACDSEE as well as Bridge.) In any event, it's on the way out. You won't be using it in 5 years time.
Up to this the lack of processing power on your computer left no choice but to organise this way. But file based organisation is as sensible as organising a Shoe Warehouse based on the colour of the boxes. It's also ultimately data-destructive.
Modern systems are Database driven. Files are managed, Images imported, virtual versions, lossless processing and unlimited editing are the way forward.
For a Photographer Photoshop is overkill. It's an enormously powerful app, a staple of the Graphic Designers' trade. A Photographer uses maybe 15% to 20% of its capability.
Apps like iPhoto, Lightroom, Aperture are the way forward - for photographers. There's the 20% of Photoshop that shooters actually use, coupled with management and lossless processing. Pop over to the Aperture or Lightroom forums (on the Adobe site) and one comment shows up over and over again... "Since I started using Aperture/ Lightroom I hardly ever use Photoshop any more..." and if there is a job that these apps can do, then the (much) cheaper Elements will do it.
The change is not easy though, especially if you have a long-standing and well thought out filing system of your own. The first thing I would strongly advise is that you experiment before making any decisions. So I would create a Library, import 300 or 400 shots and play. You might as well do this in iPhoto to begin with - though if you’re a serious hobbyist or a Pro then you'll find yourself looking further afield pretty soon. iPhoto is good for the family snapper, taking shots at birthdays and sharing them with friends and family.
Next: If you're going to successfully use these apps you need to make a leap: Your files are not your Photos.
The illustration I use is as follows: In my iTunes Library I have a file called 'Let_it_Be_The_Beatles.mp3'. So what is that, exactly? It's not the song. The Beatles never wrote an mp3. They wrote a tune and lyrics. They recorded it and a copy of that recording is stored in the mp3 file. So the file is just a container for the recording. That container is designed in a specific way attuned to the characteristics and requirements of the data. Hence, mp3.
Similarly, that Jpeg is not your photo, it's a container designed to hold that kind of data. iPhoto is all about the data and not about the container. So, regardless of where you choose to store the file, iPhoto will manage the photo, edit the photo, add metadata to the Photo but never touch the file. If you choose to export - unless you specifically choose to export the original - iPhoto will export the Photo into a new container - a new file containing the photo.
When you process an image in iPhoto the file is never touched, instead your decisions are recorded in the database. When you view the image then the Master is presented with these decisions applied to it. That's why it's lossless. You can also have multiple versions and waste no disk space because they are all just listings in the database.
These apps replace the Finder (File Browser) for managing your Photos. They become the Go-To app for anything to do with your photos. They replace Bridge too as they become a front-end for Photoshop.
So, want to use a photo for something - Export it. Choose the format, size and quality you want and there it is. If you're emailing, uploading to websites then these apps have a "good enough for most things" version called the Preview - this will be missing some metadata.
So it's a big change from a file-based to Photo-based management, from editing files to processing Photos and it's worth thinking it through before you decide.

  • Lightroom Slideshow:  output AVCHD files (Panasonic, Sony)?

Slideshow seems to have only two output formats:  MP4 and .pdf.  Panasonic flatscreens, for one, will not play these formats.  They require AVCHD files.  How can I get from Lightroom Slideshow to this format?

Thanks for your reply. What I meant was the workflow I have delveloped with the client to provide a quicktime file for their use on their end is what has been proven.
The whole reason I started this thread was hoping someone had a NEW WORKFLOW that would allow me to do this.
I have hundreds of clips I have produced for this client that utilze the Animation codec at 100% at a small fraction of the size. In fact I have one clip that is 46 minutes in duration 1920 X 1080 60 FPS using QT Animation codec at 100% and the file is 40 GB. The difference being the source files which were shot with a different camera in DVCPRO HD format.
So if what you're saying is I should expect an 8 minute clip to be 80 GB I'm a bit lost.
Anyway thanks for your reply hopefully someone has some helpful advise. I'm not here to argue with anyone or to be proven wrong, I'm just looking for help.
I'll continue to seach for other options. Thanks to all who have responded.

  • Lightroom Slideshow - long delay to generate all previews

Lightroom Slideshow - Is there a way for the slideshow to start after the first preview has been generated?  Why do all the previews have to be delayed before the first is even shown?

Adobe had problems with overlapped slideshow (showing slideshow while previews generating) and decided to "punt" (generate all previews prior to starting the slideshow).
A step backwards to be sure.
But note: slideshow is using ordinary library previews, so if you are diligent to build after editing, then slideshows start faster.
Sorry, but it's not my fault .

See the above discussion. I believe (but to be honest, I am no expert. I am trying to figure out a different, but related question) that you can reformat your iPod to the FAT32 system on your PC, then go back to your Mac, use it as a hard drive, and transfer your songs to your PC that way. Once in the FAT32 format both PCs and Macs will read the iPod disk.

  • Lightroom Slideshow - Show Filenames

I may just be missing it, but being new to Lightroom, I'm getting my first presentation ready and want to use the Lightroom Slideshow feature. I can't find how to allow the filenames to show with each slide.
I need this as a means of identification for the client.
    What am I missing????
    Thanks,
    Jim.....

Ensure that you have the Tool bar activated in the Sideshow module. (Tap the T key.)
On the Tool bar you should see an ABC icon that will allow text to be added to the slide. Click it to reveal a text box, then click the Title drop menu. In the drop list click Edit. A dialog box will allow choosing a filename.
The resulting text can be repositioned anywhere in the slide area.

  • Lightroom Slideshow behave strangely when changing star rating.

    Hi there,
I am having issues with Lightroom Slideshow when in Manual Mode and filter is on.
When I try and do a manual slideshow and I have filters on "Rating" = ** and I try and change an image to a "*" or a "***" then the slildeshow starts acting weird i.e. it will start showing images randomly on its own. I have to cancel the slideshow and restart. This is easy to reproduce.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

You can use star ratings whether the dots are there or not. Try keys 0-5.
Anyway, the View/Grid view style/Show extras menu item will re-instate the star field on your thumbnails.

    Jeannine,
If you follow the advice of the previous poster Julie Kmoch and then gradualy add presets back in one at a time you might be able to find the one that is causing the issue. I may be guessing, but I believe the issue has something to do with either an incompatible Preset setting (eg a older preset in newer version of LR) or a corrupt Preset.
Say you bought LR2 and imported a bunch of Presets from the internet, cuz 'Hey these effects are cool and I don't have to recreate the wheel', and then you upgraded to LR3 (not a clean install) and now one of the Presets that calls a certain slider setting or value that is different in LR3 doesn't work anymore. This might be why it throws the error, but again I am just speculating.
Location of LR Preset folder in Windows Vista/ Windows 7
    C:/Users/<YourUserName>/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Lightroom/Develop Presets
If you do not see the folder AppData, you may need to change the settings in Windows Explorer to 'Show Hidden Files and Folders'. To do that in Windows Vista/ Windows 7, open a Windows Explorer window, Click on Organize, then Foler and Search Options. Then click on the View tab and select the option button next to Show hidden files, folders and drives.
    Hope this helps a bit,
    Glenn

  • Save muisc in Lightroom slideshow

I just did my 1st slide show in lightroom 1.3 Windows version. It saved just fine and played nice. Is there anyway to save the music to the slide show once saved in pdf form? Is there any other way to save the music in the slide show by other means. If not will adobe look at this change. This is one of the best slide show programs that very professional in all other aspects. Thank you. Harland

Only one audio file can be used in a Lightroom slideshow.
You'll have to combine multiple songs into a single audio file (e.g. using Audition) then use the single audio file in the Lightroom slideshow.
For more flexibility, you can use commercial software such as ProShow Web, Gold or Producer which comes with a free Lightroom plugin
ProShow Gold - Create Fast and Fun Photo Slideshows
ProShow Web - Instant Photo and Video Slideshows from your Mac or PC
    Plug-ins for ProShow

Is there a way to create a pan and zoom effect in a lightroom slideshow?

Nope. Be a great feature. For that I use FotoMagico after exporting JPEG's from LR.

  • When playing games on the ipad I have no sound and it it very slow.

when playing games downloaded from the app store I have no sound and the games arte very slow?

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Check your settings. The iPads have a small switch on the right edge. It can be used as a rotation lock to keep the screen from automatically reorienting itself as you move around, but you need to have the tablet’s settings configured properly. That same switch, right above the volume buttons, can also be set to function instead as a mute button to silence certain types of audio.
If the switch is set to work as a mute button, you can change its purpose to “screen-rotation lock” by tapping the Settings icon on the home screen. On the Settings screen, tap General on the left side, and on the right side of the screen flick down to “Use Side Switch to.” Tap to select Lock Rotation or Mute to set the button’s function. Even if you set the side switch for your preferred use, you can still mute the Mini or lock the screen. Just double-click the Home button, and when the panel of apps appears along the bottom edge of the screen, flick the row from left to right with your finger. Tap the icon on the far left side of the row to either lock the iPad’s screen or mute the iPad’s alerts, notifications and sound effects. Music, podcasts and video are not muted unless you turn the volume all the way down.

If You Think iOS 7 Feels Slow Here’s How to Speed It Up
    http://osxdaily.com/2013/09/23/ios-7-slow-speed-it-up/
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

After connecting my Apple TV this morning, I have no sound. It is hooked up to play through my television speakers. Any ideas on how to get sound? Also, I tried hooking it up through my surround receiver, but could not get it to come up on my ty screen, what can I do to correct this problem?

Have you tried adjusting the "Audio Out" and the "Dolby Digital" settings in settings > audio and video? It may be worth trying several combinations of these settings, although typically it is the "Dolby Digital" setting that causes most problems for users.
Also make sure that you have correctly mapped the input port on your sound system to the output, if you are unsure about how to do this, refer to the manual that came with your sound system.
Have you tried playing various content sources (i.e. podcasts, music, iTunes Store video, other video etc), do you have the same problem with all types of content? If you use optical you might also check that you can see a red light at the end of your optical audio cable. Is your optical audio cable plugged straight into your sound system, or does it go through a switch or other device?

ok, so two of my devices have lost sound the first was about 2 years ago, but i kept the device because i could still use it for other things, then i got a " new to me" ipod about 6 months ago, and it too has, within the last two days, lost sound, and while trouble shooting these issues i have been trying to restart/refresh/whatever one of them and now none of the 4 devices that i have is shouing up on my itunes!!! this is verry upsetting since the others didnt have any problems, and i really dont want to pay $ for a fix. do not have the money for that, nor do i expect this kind of thing to happen to me more thann once.
i have gone through all the diagnostic tests with my computer and each ipod multiple times, even trying to reverse the order in which i perform the steps, as a last resort, making no progress. i have downloaded new versions of itunes 5 times within the last 3 hours and restarted my computer 7 times. my devices do not show up in "my computer" but they do display as charging when i plug them into the usb port, and to wrap up i have tried using all 3 usb ports on my computer to do this.
please do not post that i should restart my computer or that i need to restart my device! please do not tell me to go to an apple store or buy a new device! but all other help/ ideas will be greatly appriciated.
