I have no text formats in my final cut pro X

I have had final cut pro x for a while but have just started using it. I tried to add text but when I selected the T no text formats come up. Can anyone help?

Yes, click on your video clip, then go to Effects Control. The box you see to the left of the word Motion activates the wireframes.

Best Video format for Aperture, Final Cut Pro, iPad, and iPhones

I am moving all of my photos and video into Aperture and notice that only .MOV video form my iPhone 4 and .MP4 video from my go pro camera are displayed in Aperture browser mode. The .MPG files form my old Sony Powershot do not show up in the browser or in "Video" searches. I also have a set of very large (13GB) .AVI video files that I cannot import into Final Cut Pro.
My first question is:
If I want all of my videos to be completely compatible with all of my Apple products, should I convert everthing to .MOV format, and if so; whcih converter should I use?
My second question is:
My ten big (13gb) sets of vacation video are still on mini DV cassettes. I have already imported them into a PC as .AVI files. What should I convert them to, in order to edit them in Final Cut Pro; or should I import them again directly into Final Cut Pro? If so, which format is best?

No.
First, you don't need any additional software.
Second, every time video is processed it will change in some way. It will never be exactly the same as the original. It may in fact look better. However, you are not dealing with a top of the line camera. There are many compromises in it to make it affordable. These compromises in lens, chip size and quality and so on will be exacerbated as the media is processed. If the shooting conditions are not optimal, light, camera support, content, format, all of these will make reproducing the exact original more difficult and more improbable. That said AVCHD is inherently an excellent format and you should get excellent results. There is a great deal you can do in color correction and effects to improve the image and make it even more pleasing than the original, but this requires work and is not sonething achieved by clicking a button. It is also not something achieved by simply plugging in the camera and running the software. That is not how to get the best out of it. It's complex, professional software that's going to take time to learn, and video production is a complex process that takes time and effort to do really well.
My opinion which is worth what you paid for it.

Silly request but iMovie Texts in livetype for final cut pro

Ok, so ive recently switched from iMovie to Final Cut Pro, but i had grown to love the text titles in iMovie, now i know you can do some amazing stuff in livetype but is there any way to use the text titles from iMovie in Livetype for export to FCP?

The iMovie type tool is completely different and not compatible with LiveType.
Why not just export a QuickTime file from iMovie and use that in FCP?

Thanks Goldfish but the folder of Audio plug-in are already empty (the article seam to refer to X version not 7).
At the end I decide to restore the system with OSX recovery. I don't understand exacly what I did because I restore the system (I had no tm backup) but at the reboot all the program installed still there, also FCP. (And I did a restore becouse it take about 2 hour)
BTW after this "restore" FCP start correctly.

How can I create transparent animated text with Motion and Final Cut Pro?

I am trying to replicate an effect that a previous video editor did in a project, but I can't contact them.
They made animated text in Live Type, and saved it as a QT movie. When this text is placed over existing video in the FCP project, the text is "transparent", basically it acts like text created in FCP (You can see the background image behind the text, like through the middle of the letter "o").
I have made some animated text in Motion, but when I save it as a QT movie, and bring it into FCP, the whole 1280x720 screen is covered by this movie, and I have to crop it so it does not cover the background image. It is all black except for the text. And of course the text is not on a transparent layer. Any ideas how I can create this effect with animated text? I've tried messing with transparency and overlay settings, nothing seems to work.

Just bring the Motion (.motn) project into FCP and lay it over your clip.
The QT you're exporting has to carry the alpha channel (animation codec, million+ colors), but don't waste your time/disk space with that. Just bring the motion project into FCP.

M4p format audio in Final Cut Pro HD

Today I was trying to import some audio from my iTunes library. The song was one I purchased on on the Music Store, so the file's format was m4p. When I imported and rendered it, it was going fine, but during playback, I didn't get any sound from it. So do m4p files not work on Final Cut or am I doing something wrong?

iTunes Music Store stuff won't go direct to FCE. FCE likes aiff files that match your sequence setting, 32 or 48kHz.
I believe if your open one in iMvoie and share (export) it from there as an aiff, you're in there with a chance.

I have a 4th gen itouch and final cut pro 7.0.

What Sequence Preset can I utilize to input the video from the itouch without constantly rendering?
And if there is no preset that works, what custom sequence info can i input to make the timeline work with the itouch format?
And if that does not work, what is the simplest/easiest solution in converting the itouch formatted video into editable format for FCP?
I've tried finding information on this but it seems fairly difficult so any help would be greatly appreciated!

The media won't work in FCP. Use Compressor to convert it to QuickTime ProRes LT.

Final Cut Pro- Video stops exporting at 33% in H.264 format to a USB.

I have made a video using Final Cut Pro which is 51 minutes in length. Some of the clips were filmed using iPhones, whereas some of the clips were filmed using a Sony phone. The clips have all been placed together using Final Cut Pro and effects+music have been added. When I try to export the video to a USB in the format of H.264, it reaches 33% then just disappears from the background processes box. I have repeatedly tried to export the video to different places to see if the USB was the issue, but it keeps stopping at 33%. I looked at a forum which said some people had an issue whereby they found a clip which was dodgy and had to be deleted for the video to successfully export. I tried to delete the correct video clip to see if that worked, and the export then reached 37% but then stopped. The issue could be that the clips filmed on the Sony phone have to be deleted in order for the video to successfully export, however I would rather not delete all of the clips as they are an important part of the video. Also, the video must be able to play on a TV so I have some USBs which are 16GB as the video is 8.9GB. But is H.264 the correct format? Please help!

That depends on the television set (s). There is no universal standard. Definitely check the TV manual (s).

I have been trying to open a Final Cut Pro project but I keep getting this notification (title). The internet does not seem to have any solutions (maybe because of how simple it is).
I have had in on an external hard drive for a while.
I am using FCP 10.0.9
Is there anything I can do?

It sounds like you're trying to open an FCP library. FCP files are never backwards compatible. The library structure was first created in version 10.1, so 10.0.9 will not open it. You'd need to find out which version created the library.

Final Cut Express 4 and Final Cut Pro 7

I have been working at school on Final Cut Pro 7
I just bought Final Cut Express 4 thinking it would be a cheaper way for me work at my home computer. However, when I open my Final Cut files (created in Pro 7) I get a message that says their format is too new for Final Cut Express 4.
Is there a solution to my problem? Is it really not possible to go back and forth between Final Cut Pro 7 and Final Cut Express 4?
Is there some creative way of making this work? Help!

Unfortunately not. You can start the project in FCE. Open it FCP, but once it's saved in FCP, it will no longer open in FCE. (It's not supposed to anyway, though it does rarely in some cases where very little is done in FCP.)

Can't Update Old Final Cut Pro Projects

I use Final Cut Pro for work and just recently updated. I didn't realize that I needed to have all my projects in my "Final Cut Pro Projects" file while updating. I had a lot of my projects in a "Final Cut Pro Projects-Not In Use" file when I updated my Final Cut Pro and now those projects will not update. I didn't have a "Final Cut Pro Projects" file after updating so I created a new one under "Movies" in my Finder and added all the projects to that and Final Cut Pro still won't update them. What am I doing wrong?
Also, now that I've updated the projects are exporting as .MP4s and my boss wants them as .MOVs again. Is there a way I can change them to that?

I click the arow on the bottom right hand corner. Then click "Master File..."
My settings are:
Format: Computer
Video codec: H.264 Better Quality
Resolution: 1920 x 1080
Audio file format: QuickTime Movie (AAC)
(don't click Include chapter markers)
Open with: QuicTime Player (default)
On the bottom it reads left to right:
1920 x 1080 | 23.98 fbs Stereo (L R) | 48 kHz 00:00:04:02 MPEG-4 movie 10.4 MB est.
Then I click "Next..." and save it to my Desktop and click "Save"

Final Cut Pro - Export to Quicktime Movie...

I am in a pickle. I have recently completed a project using Final cut pro 6.0 and wish to Export the project so I can create a DVD using DVD Studio Pro. I have also recently exported 3 sixty minute movies perfectly fine but for some reason this recent one wont.
The Settings I am using are - DV PAL 48 kHz Anamorphic (as Im using a 16:9 format) It starts normally and says Writing Audio and Video, then Estimated Time: About 2 hours, this goes up to '9 hours estimated' then begins. After 1% being completed it 'Unexpectedly quits.'
I can still export using Quicktime conversation and via compressor but want the quality and chapter markers. I cant figure out why is doing it especially seen as it was fine a few weeks ago.
I have tried it again and now im coming up with a message saying "The application Final Cut Pro quit unexpectedly. The problem may have been caused by the KGCore plug-in." Firstly what is that and is it a possible solution?
Please Help

LATEST UPDATE.
If i try and export one project it unexpectedly quits with the first problem, 0-1% done.
If i try and export a different project it come up with the second problem 'KG Core plug-in'
Both are from the same project just different sequences

In Logic I can have a quicktime MOVIE open as a float, then move my audio clips along the time-line.........Quick time movie will "Lock" to the SPL pointer's postion.
NOW,
I am sending my director the cues I've done over Ichat (cool huh;-) ANd while I change the postions of the cues in Logic...He wants to do the same in FCP (we are doing some creative spotting)
BUT he does not have Logic...He has Final Cut Pro........surely this same thing can be achieved in FCP without having to render (2hour process ) each time we move a Audio cue on the timeline of FCP.....

Hi Steven,
It is probable that the files you are sending to your director are a different format than the one set up in the FCP "sequence" usually this would be set 16 bit 48k - it is in the FCP sequence preferences menu. If it is different every time the audio is moved the audio only might require rendering - though it should still play out without rendering with a bleeping tone. If this is the problem he could use QuickTime pro (supplied with FCP) to change the file format you send to the sequence preset he is using then no rendering would be required (Think if you import an mp3 into Logic it has to be converted before you can use it in the arrange window)
Other things to ensure is the FCP sequence has a dedicated audio track for your audio so moving it does not affect any of the directors video or sound regions which could also be a cause for rendering being required.

Me faisant regréter cette mise à jour. De plus mon logiciel final cut pro X ne fonctionne plus. Un message apparait au lancement et fige la machine : Restauration de la fenêtre d'affichage empêche l'ouverture du logiciel.

This is how it seems to work. I can import the same flashcard into the new iMovie then edit the material, then send to file, and choose the file widescreen etc size I want it to be saved as 960 X 540 which to me is similar to widescreen. When I do a check on the size against a widescreen 16 x 9 etc it is the same size (dimensional).
When I do the same thing in Final Cut Pro X import the file etc I choose the setting (DV anamorphic.) However it still comes out 4 x 3 size with the black columns down the left and right-hand side. My concern is why does iMovie, in my terms format it the way I want it to be formatted? And Final Cut Pro X, which is a more superior package, does not?
When I was researching this data video DN-60 flash card recorder, I read somewhere that if you are using a Mac computer that the files have to be wrapped in some kind of rapper before they can be read or edited, I do believe by contacting the suppliers of this product that the default recording is in 4 x 3 and it is up to the software that one uses to change the aspect ratio into widescreen. Really not sure what to do now except go back to use iMovie, when I'm trying to move away from it to be more professional in my wedding video production and other works.
I can import the tape version of the wedding, which is recorded in 16 x 9 and it is perfect when I choose the anamorphic setting to send to file. Your help would be appreciated in this matter, thanking you in advance.
