Back up all data.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box marked Allow user to administer this computer, then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.
Triple-click the following line to select it. Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):

Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.
Step 2 (optional)
The first step should give you usable permissions in your home folder. This step will restore special attributes set by OS X on some user folders to protect them from unintended deletion or renaming. You can skip this step if you don't consider that protection to be necessary.
Boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
resetpassword
That's one word, all lower case, with no spaces. Then press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
Select

I also cannot access part of the App Store, I have been trying to down load a magazine app, it has been trying to connect but it has been taking a long time. Also since I did my last update I have lost the ability to face time, I also cannot open iPhoto's

Since my last update on the newest version iPad I have not been able to download a magazine app that I have a subscription for as well I cannot open iPhoto's or video. When I go into settings and go down to where iTunes Mail etc are it freezes my I pad and I cannot access these. Is there a apple system problem? This has been going on for over a week now.

Also try resetting your iPad:
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10-15 seconds).
No data will be lost.

HT4437 On Sunday mornings my wife would like to stream her church service from her I-phone "Livestream" website to our appletv but so far we have not been able to figure out how to do this and the instructions seem too vague to help. Has anyone done this

The "Livestream" address is Preston Trail Community Church. We can watch this on the I-phone so why not be able to stream to our appletv?

The Apple TV cannot receive live streams such as that.
However if the website or app you are watching it from is enabled then you can stream it to your Apple TV via airplay. If you have the iPhone 4S you could also use mirroring.

Due to an Illness, I have not been able to work on my projects

I shot some footage on Sony digital. I have used footage and edited footage from past projects. Looks like I need the basics FB editing. I shot video and was going capture.
This first error I get is, Unable to locate the following external devices:
Apple FireWire NTSC (720x408)
Your system configuration may changed, or your deck/camera
May be disconnected or turned off.
Please check your connections and click “Check Again”, or click “Continue” to set
External device selection to None .
I will use youtube and other resources to get back on track.

The warning message is nothing to worry about. FCE knows you currently do not have a DV camera connected.
Apple FireWire NTSC (720x408) This is the default FCE Easy Setup. It can be changed anytime to match whatever type of footage is to be captured.

I upgraded my macProTower to 10.8. I need to reset my I cloud to my most recent I cloud account. I have not been able to find a way to reset it in the software.

I recently upgraded to 10.8. I would like to take advantage of I cloud set up on other apple products I have. When I up graded the software it took on the previous iCloud account. I can not find away to reset the iCloud settings in the software. Any help would be appreciated.

Go to System Preferences (under the Apple logo in the menu bar). Choose "iCloud" there.

Firefox automatically updated on my home computer last week and I have not been able to log on to Firefox since. I get a crash notice immediately.

It always updates automatically but this time it seems that Firefox won't work at all now. I cannot log in to even send this to you. I had to come to work to do it so I don't have a crash ID here because I didn't know I needed it. I have only used Firefox for several years now and am upset that this update messed it all up.I used to use Thunderbird also (which I loved) but I have over 750 e-mails that can't seem to download (they downloaded from the server, but couldn't get into Thunderbird. The first message took over 10 minutes...so I don't use it either because all my messages line up after those 750. Nobody can seem to fix that either)

Are your apps restricted? Check Settings > General > Restrictions

HT4993 Since I did the ios update yesterdayI cannot save photos (ie from facebook) they will not save in my camera roll)

Since I updated yesterday to the iOS6 day I cannot save photos (ie from Facebook) to my photos.. any help from anyone would be great.

I've noticed that with the iOS update, you're not asked if you want to allow the app to access photos or something. I said do not allow on Facebook thinking that it would upload pictures without my permission. Really this allows you to save photos to your camera roll. Now I have to figure out how to undo this....
You've been able to save photos from Facebook since at least the last update. You just touch the picture for 2-3 seconds and a menu will pop up asking if you want to save it/make profile picture/cancel/etc.

I have not been able to send email for some time but now i have stopped being able to recieve email.

That is correct, They don't seem to know about Mac, never got a single scrap of help from them. Try recreating your account from scratch, delete the account, (write down all your settings first) and add an account, see if that works, and if it does, delete the first account to prevent things doubling up on you. I think that's what I did, it was quite a while ago. Hope this helps, or gets you pointed in the right direction. Maybe go to At&t and try creating another account, and if ti works, delete the first.
One other tihing I did was to reset Safari, as AT&T uses the net, that's about all I can remember, like I said it was awhile ago.

I just upgraded to Lion and I have not been able to successfully complete a restart. I go to apple menu, restart. The computer powers down no problem and starts but it does not open the desk top. It remains a grey screen with the spinning icon. Any help?

The screen remain grey and a graphic just spins. I have left this happen for as much as 15 minutes without it openning the desk top. When I power down the computer with the power button and start again with the power button. It starts no problem.

v10.8..2? Most reccent version of Lion is v10.7.4.
Use Lion Recovery to repair the startup disk if necessary, or reinstall the Mac OS X.
