I have numerous documents in PAGES2009 which I cannot open on my new Macbook Air with latest iWork programs. Is there a "fix" or do I need to buy iWork 2009 (or at least PAGES2009) to be able to open my old documents?

Yes with some caveats, but probably your documents are actually Pages '08 format which Pages 5.2 can not open.
You need to open them in Pages '09 or export them from Pages '08 to Word .doc/docx.
If you had iWork '09 before are you sure you don't still have it in your Applications/iWork folder?
You are aware that Pages 5.2 is a lobotomised version, missing over 110 features?

What is the problem and how can I solve it?Some websites require a special client certficate for access. If you don't have that certficate, you'll have to contact the site operator to find out how to get one.
Sometimes the problem is caused by a web server that is configured to request an optional client certificate. Safari treats the request as mandatory. In that case, other browsers such as Firefox and Chrome may be able to connect to the site, because they ignore the request.
The first time you were prompted for a certificate, you may have clicked through a dialog that requested access to the Apple certificate in your keychain that is used to secure the iMessage service. In that case, you may be able to regain access to the site in Safari by doing as follows.

I have a new MacBook Air with Yosemite (no CD/DVD capacity). I want to install Photoshop Elements 6. Can I do this with the serial number? If pse 6 is not compatible, can I upgrade to pse 7. I do not need pse 12 or 13
I cannot answer regarding compatibility, but there is no download available for PSE6 if you would need one for this. You might be able to copy the installation files from a disk to some other removable media that the machine accepts. Upgrading to PSE7 would not be possible mainly because Adobe does not sell older versions of their software.

I have old Office:Mac 2004 Student and Teacher Edition from my previous MacBook and it won't download onto my new MacBook Air via external optical drive and says that PowerPC applications are no longer supported. Am I stuck bying the newer version or is there a way around the software issue so I don't have to spend more money. Thanks for your help.
KevinYou can purchase Offce 2011 from MacMall for about $99 so it is well worth the money. As said in a previous post by Kappy, you can try one of the free office suites available. They can read Office files and can save documents in Office format. Apple's iWork is also a good ffice suite afavilable from the App Store by download. I have used Open Office,Libre Office and Neo Office and have liked each one of them. Neo Office has the closest match to Apple operating systems - it just feels like an Apple program. Open Office and Libre Office are also very good choices and dont have much of a learning curve at all.

I am trying to transfer older files from a Mac PowerBook G4, running system 9, printing those documents as pdf, using Acrobat 4. Then those pdf documents will transfer to my newer MacBook Air, running OSX 10, allowing me to store and use them. My problem is that Acrobat 4 no longer seems to work on the old Mac, and I don't know how to fix it. Can anyone give me some suggestions?

Which should I pick? A 2012 Macbook Air with 8GB of RAM, or a 2013 Macbook Air with 4GB of RAM?
My mother bought herself a new computer, and she is letting me choose which one will go to my sister: my 2012 Macbook Air, or her 2013 Macbook Air. My sister does not care at all about performance, but I definitely do. Which would be better to take? Keep in mind, I do like to run video games, and still would like optimal speed for things like running various programs, Specs below.
2013 Macbook Air:

2012 Macbook Air:

Intel HD Graphics 4000Both computers you are looking at use Intel's integrated video and unless you are going to be compiling a massive program you won't notice a significant difference between the two machines. You'll want 8GB RAM for sure and I strongly recommend the 256GB drive rather than the 128GB drive. You don't fully realize how small a 128GB drive is until you find it full and think "But I hardly have anything on it!"
I found that using a second display has very helpful though today an iPad could fill in for the second display. I liked to have documentation, lab notes, or a Web site open in one screen with the IDE open in the other. That was easier than flipping back and forth between windows. -

See if your friend will let you access the App Store, where you can sign in using your Apple ID and download the installer. You can use this free program to copy the installer and update your computer.

Issue: iCal
I can't sync the iCal in my new MacBook Air with the existing iCal in my iPad. I went to system preferences (settings) to iCloud and checked the iCal to enable it to sync to my existing iPad iCal. Still nothing happened. It's strange because i successfully synced my contacts doing the same thing. Is there anything I have to have my iCal activated in my new MacBook Air?Welcome to the Apple Community.
First check that all your settings are correct, that calendar syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the calendars you are using are in your 'iCloud' account and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud account (you can do this by clicking/tapping the calendar button in the top left corner of the application ), non iCloud calendars will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your calendars are in the iCloud account, you might try unchecking calendar syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling calendar syncing settings.
