I have Office 2012 for Mac. I want to add Outlook without restarting a trial of Office 2012. How can I do it?

To help with nomenclature: iOS is the operating system for iPads, iPhones and iPods. OS-X is the operating system for Macs (versions are 10.xxx with the latest being Mountain Lion (10.8.5 is the current patch level)).
Now, to answer your question: MS Office for the Mac does not give you the ability to individually install, or remove, components like the Windows version. It is an all or nothing proposition. So, Outlook should already be there. If not, you will need to reinstall the entire package.

It depends on how you installed it. You have to shutdown the MySQL service first. If you used the standard, but obsolete Startup Item, you can do that with the Startup Item. If you created a launchd script, you can do it with launchctl. Once MySQL is no longer running, you can delete the Startup Item or launchd script and the rest of MySQL.

CS4 product Serial numbers were platform specific, You can use the serial number only for one platform. If you have a MAC version Serial Number then you cannot install it on windows and also CS4 is not supported anymore , everything is on cloud now, Adobe is not providing any physical media or any Serial numbers for any old applications.
I am sorry but you cannot use the CS4 on windows if you have purchased it for MAC.

I'd really rather use FireFox than Safari, but if it's a no go, (no compatibility, no rool-back) I'll be forced to dump FireFOx and use Safari (only my choice of last resort.)

I want to add a china/splash/extra tom to drum kit - how can I do that?

I need to be able to able to add/play china/splash/extra toms in a drum kit. How do I go about this? I already have samples for all of the instruments/pieces I want to add, but don't know how I can control all at the same time. I play a lot of real-time MIDI w/ a keyboard so it doesn't make sense to have the extra pieces in EXS while playing the drums w/ DKD.

Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

Don't mean to upstage a level 6 Tech but having just wiped my own G5 for reinstall, I know you can do it on the computer monitor. If by "recycle" you mean to sell or give away the computer, go to Disk Utilities (in Application/Utilities) and hit the erase button, choose the 35x swipe and it's supposed to clean it completely within a couple of hours. I did the 7x wipe and got a sudo (single user que) showing nothing but the presence of BSD initiation and a "We're hanging here". Did a reinstall and it's beautiful.

Any computer is compatible as long as it can read and write Office files. But for perfect (or at least near perfect) compatibility, you would want to purchase Office 2011 for Mac.
How can I transport from Windows to Mac?
You can't directly transport any installation of Windows. All PC's come with a machine specific version of Windows intended for that PC. They don't have all of the hardware drivers the retail disks cover.
If you want Windows on your Mac, you would first purchase a full version copy (NOT an upgrade disk) of Windows 7 or 8. Those are the only supported versions on newer Macs. You install it through the supplied Boot Camp utility that comes with the Mac to create a new partition for Windows, and then install the retail copy of Windows you purchased.
The reason only these versions of Windows are supported is the same basic reason as a machine specific version of Windows for a PC. Apple only includes the necessary Mac hardware drivers for Win 7 or 8 on new Macs.
Once Windows is installed, you could then install the version of Office for Windows you already own. The nuisance of a Boot Camp partition is that you have to physically boot to either Windows or OS X, so you can only use the apps of the OS you're in at the time. To use both at once, you'd have to use virtual machine software (Parallels, VMware, VirtualBox) and then install Windows within that. Then you'd be able to run Windows inside of OS X and have access to both at the same time.

Office for Mac, http://www.microsoft.com/mac/products, can open/edit/create Office documents.If your external drive is formatted NTFS then you can copy the Office documents to your computer and work on them. You won't be able to save the files back to your NTFS formatted drive. But you will be able to save the documents to your internal drive. You can move all the external files to your internal drive then format the external drive for Apple. Then you can copy the files back to your external drive for ongoing use.
