Please understand I am a frustrated customer like you, , but the availability of movies that have been shown before is dependant on licencing from the rights owners. Sky quite rightly have to pay the film studios for the ability to show to Sky's customers. As I understand it they purchase the right for a period of time, hence when the right expires then it has to be removed. The costing of the movies does reflect on the anticipated popularity of the programme, hence an older less popular movie might seem expensive but if not many people watch and pay that would be right. The apparent silliness of having movies in the store and on demand, allows those people who do not have a movie subscription to rent the movie on a one off basis. I agree that Sky seem to be licencing some programmes for shorter periods and it really upsets me when movies appear in buy and keep but not available to rent only. I recently queried Sky about Fortitude being available in OnDemand until 2022!, then of course found out that Sky owns the rights of the series. I can only say be careful if you are a movies subscriber and wish to watch a movie, not to select the Sky Store version if it is available in the Movies on Demand section. I recently wanted to watch a film that I found in Sky store at a cost, and just to be sure I searched for it and found it was to be shown on Channel 4 in a few days. I don't think we'll ever understand how such decision are made as to how long they licence movies for and how the charging model works with the film studios. Logically you would think that a smallish fee to have available indefinately and to pay the studio fee based on the number of rentals would be better, but that might be difficult to administer and Sky would have to have extra server storage fees, which they outsource. Does anyone have problems with iTunes movie rentals freezing in the middle of the movie, requiring a force quit, which causes your rental to disappear? This has happened multiple times to me recently. Last time Apple didn't refund my money after reporting the problem. I have been using iTunes for many years but am about to give up.

Reinstalled software on mac pro, now can't sync mac pro, macbook, iphone, iPad. tried to rip a cd to iTunes, was told i didn't have access to itunes media folder or a folder inside it. i was directed to go to finder to deal with it. nothing helped.

You haven't been hacked, you just have problems with your system. What those problems might be I have no idea, as your posts are a bit rambling and unclear.
What I would recommend is to find a nearby Apple Store and take the time to bring your machine in to the Genius Bar there. (Make sure to make an appointment first!) You can do all this from the [Apple Retail Store page|http://www.apple.com/retail>. A Genius can look at the machine and help solve the problems. If your communication style and level of knowledge about computers makes it difficult to communicate with techs on the phone or internet, as it sounds like has been the case, this hands-on help could make all the difference.

Put it into DFU mode - hold the sleep/wake button and home button until the screen goes black (ignoring the slide to turn off slider). When the screen goes black release the sleep/wake button but hold the home button. Continue holding the home button for 10 seconds, then release it. The screen should stay black. Plug it into iTunes and it should come up with this message "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. It must be restored before use", that's when it is successfully in DFU mode. Now press the restore button in iTunes and it should run smoothly :)

Thank you for your prompt response - I did as you said and did a drag and drop into the iTunes window - it imported and got my album art from the net. When I started Itunes with the shift key down I was prompted to choose a library but since I copied over the media folder and not the library folder I was unable to select that so I guess I will have to create a new library and add in all the music, videos, etc. unless I wait for my laptop and export the library or at least that seems to be the case? In short, all my data (iTunes media folder) is on my external drive and can be added to the blank iTunes screen but I can not choose a library folder. Is there anyway around completely making all those playlists again? I am not sure my laptop will survive the shop with data intact and really hate to start over on those.
In an unrelated question - I collect old TV shows from the 1950's. Can I make playlists within the home video folder somehow? In other words like one for Quiz shows, one for comedies, one for police and detective shows, etc. while I am remaking all my playlists for my music if I end up having to go that route?

Have to restart iTunes EVERY time I want to stream to Apple TV!

I have the 2012 Apple TV and while Netflix, Youtube, etc. normally work well, I have to restart iTunes EVERY time I want to stream to Apple TV! My iMac is always on and the newest version of iTunes is always running. It doesn't seem to matter if the iMac is in sleep mode or not, and I have a very strong wifi signal coming from my Airport Express. Every time - not sometimes - I want to access music, TV shows or movies in iTunes on Apple TV, it says my library is loading, or cannot connect. Every time. What can I do?

WC, When I use the term Home Sharing it is perhaps a little oversimplified, it is quiet impractical and often overkill to continually restate the complete sequence of events that led me to 'a fix', however, I did not suddenly one day find a problem, switch to wi-fi and find all was well. There was significant investigation done on my part to try to find a solution. if by me saying I moved to wifi and it worked, others can move to wifi and have a fix, great. I am not trying to reinvent the wheel here, others much cleverer than me are looking at that...
I had a functioning setup over wired until approx 2 months ago with an ATV2 connecting to Imac library, I was at the time occasionally running some software that restarted itunes once finished which may have masked the problem if it was there, unlikely though. I purchased an ATV3 with a new TV, this upon installation required an ios update much the same time as the itunes update.
I noticed the white light on the atv3 flashing when it was asleep, this was not something i had seen on the atv2, Investigation suggested this was normal behaviour, I remain unconvinced of this.
from that point on 'Home Sharing' did not work until a restart of itunes, it would then work all night (6+ hours)
My mac was set to sleep over night, I tried turning that off-no difference, turned ip6 off-no difference, once it hangs other devices on the network are unable to see the itunes lib, iphone, ipad,MBP etc
Once the thing hangs, Netstat shows a massive quantity of open ports 100/150+ to each on/sleeping atv, a restart of itunes clears this lot. with wired, these connections start to build again, with wireless not so much.
looking back on here shows folks have had this problem in various guises since early 2011, apple by their own admission state the last update 'fixes some issues with Home Sharing', it seems it introduced some for me...
I am quite sure some peoples problems are down to underlying network problems however this is supposed to be 'Home Sharing' it shouldnt need a degree in computer science to configure, it should just work.
I am not about to pull my network apart to troubleshoot any further, between mac & atv's there are 2 x Giga/switches(netgear) and an Airport Extreme(bridged), the atv cable was plugged into the A.Ex no dice and now connects w/less to the same box and works fine...

If you have an iPhone or iPad do not update to ISO 7 unless you want an operating system that looks like windows 8. The graphics looks like it was designed by a artistically challenged mongoose and the operating system is not intuitive something apple users expect. You don't say which version of iTunes you are using, but the symptoms you describe have been encountered by some users with the 64-bit version of iTunes 12.1.
There is an alternative version for 64-bit editions of Windows here:
iTunes 12.1 for Windows (64-bit — for older video cards)
that seems to address the most of the playback issues that some users have been reporting with the full 64-bit version of 12.1.0.77 - including problems with Bluetooth speakers where either sound is degraded or completely absent. The alternative installer here is the same architecture as most previous "64-bit" versions of iTunes, i.e., a 32-bit application with a 64-bit installer. The "for older video cards" label appears to be something of a misnomer as some people have reported that this corrects problems found on current / high-spec systems.
Some users have reported that after installing this alternative version it is necessary to adjust the "Play audio using" selection (normally to "Direct Sound" rather than "Windows Audio Session", though this may vary based on your audio hardware/drivers) in Edit > Preferences > Playback to restore glitch-free audio (one part of the reported symptoms is that the "Direct Sound" choice isn't available, usually in Windows 8). It may also be necessary to ensure that your Bluetooth speakers are active and selected as the default audio device before you run iTunes.
If this doesn't address the issue, you may want to think about reverting to iTunes 12.0 - see Turingtest2's notes on Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for steps needed to completely remove all installed iTunes components, and for links to the 12.0 installers.

Because the file are no longer where they were when they were imported into your computer and added to your iTunes Library.
Did you move, rename or delete the files after adding them to your iTunes Library?
Do you use any other programmes, which may have moved, renamed or deleted the files, for example, Windows Media Player?
Were the files added to your computer's hard drive, or to an external drive which is no longer connected, or has a different drive letter now?

You didn't read my problem - I said I deleted a POP email account. I always read the messages that pop up and in Mail when you delete a POP account - IT DOESN'T TELL YOU NUTHIN! It just deletes it - which *** for me. Fortunately, I had an iPhone and on that device I had about a 1000 messages that I could recover but on all my POP accounts I download them from the server onto my Mac so they were only on Mail (the really old ones that I wanted to keep.) I had to move them into another directory one by one basically because when I would move 50 some of them would move and some wouldn't and I never did figure out that problem. Basically the ones that would not move are the ones that were associated with my domain changes with GoDaddy, and there were a lot of those. Have no idea as to why only those were resistant to moving but I can get all that data from GoDaddy anyway.
This thread is now moot seeing as how I've recovered everything I can and am going to just move on - and back up more often. ;-)

I presume you deleted the original files as match would not have done so. Do you have a back up. If so, restore your music from that. If not, your will have lost all your music as this needed to be on your hard drive when you unsubscribed.

Hi Ivan,
Connect your iPhone to your computer. In iTunes, select your iPhone in the left bar. In the middle screen, go to the tab 'Music' and see if the Sync music box is checked.
If it is checked, you can select the music you want on your iPhone in the screen below.
If it is not checked, you can drag and drop music from your library to your iPhone.
Do the same in the tab 'Ringtones' (not sure if there is such a tab).
Let us know if this solved your issue.
