I have only 1800 Songs in itunes but it says 30GB's How? Please Help
I have about 1800 songs in my itunes and it is saying that the total size of those songs is about 30GB's..... how can that be? Is that normal? Please help.

That averages about 16 MB per song, which is higher than normal. Look at the Kind column in your library (if you don't see Kind, enable it by going to View > View Options) and see whether you have many files in WAV or AIFF format. Those formats take a lot of space.
Also sort your library buy Size (if you don't see Size, enable it by going to View > View Options) and look at the largest ones. See anything odd?

By 'purchased items' do you mean the Purchased link under Quick Links in the store ? If you do then do other songs that you've purchased appear there (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) ?

hi have just purchased iphone 4s . my itunes on my mac is currently 10.4 . 10.5 is needed for the new iphone but when i download it and click on install the itunes about still says 10.4 . have tried to update through itunes but it says there is no software available for me . please help . mr frustrated
If your computer is running an OS X prior to Snow Leopard 10.6,
the answer (if it is an Intel-based Mac; not old PowerPC model)
would be to buy the retail Snow Leopard 10.6 DVD from Apple
for about $20, and install it. Then update that to 10.6.8 by using
the installed Snow Leopard online to get Combo Update v1.1 for
Snow Leopard 10.6.8. After that is installed & updated, run the
system's Software Update again, to see what else is available to
that system.
Later systems can then be looked into at Mac App Store, once
the computer is running Snow Leopard 10.6.8.
And if your computer is a Power PC (G4/G5, etc) and has no
Core2Duo kind of CPU -- See "About this Mac" in apple menu
to disclose the general info about your Mac. Also you can see
even more by clicking on "More Info" when looking in there...
If it isn't an Intel-based Mac, it can't run a system past 10.5.8.

Are you following these instructions.
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Source list, and then click Restore. -

The serial number will not help you locate it.
IF you turned on the find my iPhone feature on the iPhone itself, then go to iCloud.com
If you did not, then you cannot locate it. -

Have you checked your Control Panel to make sure you don't have the flashlight turned on?
Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and make sure the flashlight icon (bottom left-hand corner) is not white. If it is, tap on it to turn it off.

I have downloaded a song in itunes, but it appearing in my phone as light grey and wont play.
I have purchased a song from itunes on my iphone, but it wont download correctly. It is appearing in light grey with no artwork and won't play when I click on it. I've have tryed deleting it and re-downloading, but the same happens ever time. It has download to my ipad fine, so there is nothing wrong with the purchase. Can anyone help?
Yes, this is very frustrating. OK, I have a lot of songs on my iPod and in iTunes that were transferred from CDs. Only the 'purchased' songs from iTunes show up on my phone, not the 3,000+ songs I physically downloaded from said CDs. On the screen of my iPhone, the songs are in grey and next to it in red is a circle with a square inside (similar to when you download an APP) but it won't download. I am now trying the 'home sharing' that I found in an old post and syncing the phone, again, to see if that helps. I think I am going to have to make a trip to an Apple store. If anyone has an answer to this, I would appreciate it. Many thanks, JP

What do I do when you have purchased a song from itunes but doesn't let you play it
I got a song from itunes but when I play it it says that I have to authorize on my computer and then it gives me a message that my computer is already authorized but won't play the song.
1. Go to expresslane.apple.com
2. select 'itunes' and then 'itunes store' on the right
3. select a topic and a subject
4. click 'continue' and then 'email'
5. fill out the form and explain your situation
6. they will respond within 24 hours usually

I purchased a song from Itunes, downloaded into my library and synced to my Ipod....Well when playing the song, it cuts off at the 3:20 mark, and the song itself is 4:07 long....I have tried everything, but I cannot get it to work...Can someone please help me? That is what you get when you pirate music.
You are probably going to have reset your iPhone to factory default which wipe out evrything. After that restore from the backup on your computer.

I upgraded my three year old Gen 2 20 gig ipod to a 60 gig video ipod. Recently it's starting acting odd. I have songs on iTunes that do not appear on the ipod. About 5 or 6 of them I understand, since they are copy protected. However there are several dozen tracks for which there is no reason i can think of. They transferred fine to my old iPod. The thing they have in common? Well, in my library, viewed through windows, they're in an 'unknown album' folder, although through iTunes the album title is just blank. It's infuriating and I don't know what to do. Any ideas?

It is however somewhat annoying to have to give fake album names to all songs currently without album titles (about 2000 tracks). This did not occur before having updated the ipod with the latest updater, or on my old iPod.
So thanks for your help and I'll do that for now, but if Apple are reading and looking at things to change in the next software version it would be good to revert to how things used to be! -

First, in order to check which version of iTunes is installed, launch iTunes and from the Help Menu, choose "About iTunes." This will show you which version is installed. If it is not 8.0.2.20, and you did not get any specific error messages when installing iTunes, then try the steps in this article:

Removing and reinstalling iTunes will not remove your music. The music is stored in your User's folder (or on whatever drive you have your music stored on) and is separate from the program itself.
If you follow the article and are getting any error messages not mentioned there, post the entire error message here and it will help isolate the cause of the issue.

Ipod appears empty on itunes, but still says 9GB used! pls help.
I connected my ipod to a friends computer, and it seems to have 'wiped' it. The ipod shows up in itunes, but there is no music on it. However, it says at the bottom (and in exlporer) that I have used 9GB, so I assume my music is still on it. No music shows up on the actual ipod either, but my photos are stil on it. I can't figure out whats happening!

- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause
