i have os x 10.5.8 and need to upgrade to os x 10.6.8. What product do I need to upgrade to? I cant seem to find os x 10.6.8, I can only see OS X Leopard, Snow Leopard, Lion, or Mountain Lion, and I am not sure what is what, and if my machine (MacBook from 2008 running os x 10.5.8) is compatible or not. Far worse are those who upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mavericks for hardware reasons: they purchased a new Mac, potentially to replace one whose hardware has failed. Now after their migrate their data from their backup or clone, they are faced with a much more limited set of options.
The fact of the matter is that there is significant history here: the 'miracle' of Rosetta. Apple designed it to be transparent and mostly invisible. Most Snow Leopard users today have no idea what the difference is between PowerPC software and that which will run on an Intel family processor; and why should they?
Again, only when faced with the dreaded "PowerPC apps will not run" dialog box, do they realize that something is wrong, very wrong!
The proof of the pudding are the significant numbers of recent Snow Leopard to Mavericks upgraders who, for the most part, find their way to this forum facing a problem they are neither reasonably educated about by Apple beforehand, nor are they at fault for the problem they are facing.
Telling them that somehow it is their fault for not having taken the proper precautions only adds to their frustration!
The fact that you personally have seen this problem happen countless times, has no significance to that one user who tomorrow will post the problem anew...
For those who are lucky enough to have the same hardware and have inquired about the problem ahead of their upgrade to Mavericks, the proper advice is to partition or add another hard drive and install Mavericks there!
Experiment with their existing environment in Mavericks but have the dual-boot ability to immediately go back to using Snow Leopard as needed.
Any other advice is heartless and cruel and certainly not harsh! -

In Adobe Send, I have sent files several times now and when the recipient clicks the link to open, it says page cannot be found. This just started happening. What needs to be corrected?
I can think of a couple of reasons for this behavior.
You inadvertently turned off the sharing for the files.
The link that the user is clicking on is incomplete; perhaps it got broken across lines in an email message. Are you sending Anonymous Links or Personalized Invitations? If the former, are you certain that you copied the entire link?
Some things to try.
Have the user send the link back to you so that you can test it. Does it work for you?
If you look at your Sent Files list, is the name in the Sent To column struck through (e.g., John Smith)? That would indicate that it has been unshared.
If you could get back to me with answers, perhaps we can get to the bottom of this. -

Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
If after reboot that doesn't help...
Open Console in Applications>Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens. -

Backup first
It is always best to have a full bootable backup before you upgrade. If you fail to do this you will be unable to return to this OS if you decide you don't like the new OS. Also there is a slight chance that an install could lose everything on the Mac. The backup must be to an external hard disk. Preferably use Carbon Copy Cloner to make a bootable backup of the whole disk.
Erase before the install
Once you have a bootable backup on an external disk it is best to erase the internal disk with the new installer DVD before you install.
During the install
Preferably do not import any data or preferences from earlier OSs during the install process as this can reintroduce bugs.

OS X 10.5.x - Leopard
OS X 10.6.x - Snow Leopard

Upgrade to Leopard
Those wishing to upgrade to Leopard should be aware that install disks can be expensive unless you contact Apple. Google for details. Leopard works well at 500 MHz with 1 GB of RAM and many happy users have less than this.
Upgrade beyond Leopard
OSs beyond OS X 10.5.8 require an Intel processor. If in doubt check this: Click the apple at the top left of your screen and select 'About this Mac'. This will give you your OS number. Then click 'More Info' to see which processor you have. If it says PowerPC you cannot upgrade to Snow Leopard and above. I need to reinstall my Final Cut Express. I have a version of 3.5 and then an upgrade to 4. Somehow I have managed to mislay the serial No for 3.5 so cannot install. Does anyone know how I can resolve this.
If version 4 is an upgrade only, you will have to have the serial number of the 3.5 full version.
If you can't find it try contacting Apple with your proff of purchase, they may be able to help.

Your initial post indicated that you had a CC subscription. That seems to imply that you have subscribed. If you hadn't already purchased Lightroom 6 I would suggest that you wait until you decide about CC. You really don't need both because the Lightroom program is precisely the same except for Lightroom 6 without the creative cloud has no Lightroom mobile capabilities. But I was only trying to help.
