Thank you. So it is ok to download the different number. Also, someone just emailed me saying that iCloud is really not a storage. Does one have to get SugarSync, etc. then?

I have completed the OS X Maverick upgrade, restart etc. but when attempting to update 8 other Apps to X Maverick I get this message:

Help!Similar threads solve this problem by either creating a new administrator identity, which allows one to update applications, or changing the keychain prefs to Best attempt. My issue was solved by adding a new admin user, and then updating the apps from the App store using the new identity. Under my orginal user identity the keychain app would crash when I attempted to open Prefs. After creating a new identity and updating the applications (iPhoto, etc) I found I was able to open the keychain Prefs logged into my orginal identity.

The apple store is so unhelpful. I have an iMac computer operating on Mac OSX 10.5.8. I want to upgrade to the latest Mountain Lion operating system so I can work with the iCloud on my computer and download my emails. I can't seem to purchase this on-line as it keeps telling me to go to the app store. I haven't got the app store on my computer as I am told I need iCloud for which I need the new operating system, which I can't download or purchase as I am sent back to an instruction telling mee to go to the app store icon.
How difficult can it be to simply purchase the software on-line have it shipped to you so you can install it, in the event it cannot be downloaded as it appears it can't be based on my curent operating systems being Mac OSX 10.5.8.Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'

Whilst Apple have withdrawn Snow Leopard from download, you can still get it from Apple by calling 1-800-MY-APPLE (if you are in the USA) and they will supply the SL DVD for $30. You can also purchase the code to use to download Lion from the same number.

I had to completely reset my phone back to "new" at the Apple Store and the Genius told me that my PhotoStreams would download automatically back to my iPhone after the reset. They have not. Are they lost forever?
Have you logged into iCloud on the phone? If not they won't be there, also just to let you know photo stream doesn't keep your photos forever anyway. It will keep up to 1000 photo's after that it will delete the oldest photo there, it will also delete any photo that is 30 days old.

I have a first generation MacBook Air that has been refurbished via the Apple store. I installed Snow Leopard about a year ago and now, my computer wont update! It will download the updates restart my computer, but then I get an error message and the computer wont restart!
What is a error message and what do you see when it appears?
Haven't much problem with Airs around here, since they have a SSD they tend to be more reliable.
Perhaps it was a bad update, have you ran through this list of possible fixes?
Do as many as possible, starting with #1. Until the problem is resolved.
Use the boot 10.6 USB instead of the disk of course.

I have Snow Leopard OSx on my MacBookPro. I would like to upgrade to Mt.Lion. OSx but am only allowed 3 gigs/mo download of data from my internet provider. I've attempted to purchase a CD from Apple store but they said it's only available through on-line downloads. How can I upgrade?

I had my I phone 4s replaced today at the Apple store. I previously backed it up on ICloud. I'm downloading from ICloud to the new phone. The pictures have been stuck on number 215 for an hour now. I've turned the phone off and on several times, but it won't progress in downloading the pictures. This happened the last time the phone was replaced and there was something I could do to get things moving, but I don't remember what?
Then you'll have to decide when you think it's hung and unlikely to restart. At that point, you'll probably have to reset it (by holding the power and home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo, then release) and try restoring the backup again.
The only "solution" I've seen posted on photos that fail to restore from a backup that seems to have worked for others, is the on posted by ezjules here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/19518589#19518589. If you restore the backup again, you could give it a try and see if it works for you. -
Need to upgrade my Mac OS 10.5.8 to 11.1 or higher. I cannot access icloud, iphone updates, flashplayer, can't watch movies, or use itunes (I'm sure there are other options I can't access but haven't found them all) unless I upgrade. Can this be done remotely or do I have to take my PC to an apple dealer?
Version 11.1 of what? There is no version of OS X with that number so presumably you are referring to iTunes, which requires an Intel Mac running Snow Leopard or better:

i cannot sync my iphone music, i had used my i phone on another pc, which died. Ive managed to save the hard drive and transfer stuff across. I ended up smashing my phone and could update all other stuff on restore but cant sync any music. It is all grey at the top of the screen. Ive re installed itunes and cleared all phone data. Now when i bought a song on this computer from the apple store, i have just been sent an email that says Your Apple ID, was just used to purchase (a song ) by a computer that had not been previously associated with that apple id. So do i have to tell apple now somehow i am using itunes on this pc, and if so how? Because i authorised it and it said this pc was one of 5 aujthorised. if anyone can be of assistance then great!
I'm having a similar problem. I had previously (over a year ago) purchased 2 episodes of Law & Order. Then about 2 months ago, I purchased the 3rd season of Sons of Anarchy. When I downloaded these episodes to my iPad, about a dozen full seasons of various shows popped up, too. No money was removed from my iTunes account & theses particular shows aren't in my iTunes library on my desktop. I've tried every which way to delete them from my ipad, but can't. I went to the Apple store & they suggested I contact expresslane.apple.com for help. I submitted my problem, via email Friday, as they asked, but have not received any response. Any suggestions on how to get rid of these "phantoms?".

So, I have an iPhone4 iOS 4.3.2 restored from Apple Store iTunes. I also have an iPod Touch 4G iOS 4.3.2. These two devices can facetime other Apple products, but not each other.
So when I discovered this, I restored both at the Apple Store iTunes and they worked for the first time!! The Genius Bar guys told me to just set my iPod as New Device to my PC then manual sync it. I deleted all my iPod backup from this one since they are all from fresh restore.
I did as directed. iPod does not want to connect facetime to my iPhone. I tried uninstall and reinstall my iTunes to the newest version. Still not working after a full restore. My PC is XP Service Pack 2 with Japanese setting. I wonder if my PC iTunes has to do with anything or my iTunes account...This is the iPhone forum
That said... PhotoStream is a stream of photos. The contents of the PhotoStream are not part of the backup. PhotoStream will hold the last 30 days of photos on-line. After 30 days, the photos are deleted from the servers. If they have already been downloaded from the cloud and appear on a device, they will remain there. However... if the device is wiped, restored, etc. or PhotoStream on the device is turned off then back on, ONLY the photos still resident in the cloud will download.
If the photos were over 30 days old, they are no longer in the cloud. If you didn't have them backed up elsewhere, they are gone. -

Providing specifics on all the ways to do this will take more time than I am willing to spend here these days. You can do some of this with Home Sharing. You can transfer the entire library from one computer to another, If you do that you can delete what you don't want from the transferred library.
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Open iTunes and immediately hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) so you get a prompt to select a library, then guide it to the 'iTunes Library.itl' file in the moved iTunes folder. If you put the copied iTunes folder in the default location of Macintosh HD > Users > *User Name* > Music then you don't even need to start with the option key held down, iTunes will automatically look for it there. (Make sure there isn't anything already in the iTunes folder there that you want to keep since you will be replacing it with the one you are moving.)
You do not want to use a new AppleID. Change the AppleID on the new phone to the old ID. Purchases made with one AppleID cannot be transferred to a different one and it will be a royal pain to manage two Apple IDs.
Change iTunes Store account on an iOS device - Log out of your current account with Settings.app > Store (Settings > iTunes & App Stores on iOS 6) > tap on your AppleID. Log in with a different account. How can I use my Ipad in a hotel that only has ethernet connections? The Apple store clerk told me that travel express won't work in my hotel unless I also have a computer.
The issue with the Airport Express (or any of the Apple routers) is that you need the Airport Utility to configure it. Airport Utility works on OSX and Windows, but not on the iPad (or iPhone or iPod Touch.) It will work, if you can preconfigure the Airport correctly ahead of time, but you'd be stuck if you did need to reconfigure while at the hotel.
You can use most any other router that is configured with a web page, which means you have a chance of configuring with Safari on the iPad. If you want something somewhat portable, I use a "travel router" made by D-Link. The current model is the DAP-1350. Other companies make similar travel routers, but I have no experience with the others.
