I have Pages at home but use Word at work - how do I edit documents and go back and forth to work on a thumb drive?

Hi there,
I'm new to this and to a MacBook Air. I have Pages, Numbers, and Keynote on my Mac and I have the iPad versions on my iPad. At work we are Dell and Windows based. However, I need to sometimes bring home a word doc on a thumbdrive to edit it and then I want to save it so Windows Word can open the document at work. This seems to be pretty easy from and iPad but not from a Mac. Why? Help!

If this is going to be your common workflow, I would suggest you don't use Pages which needs to import and export Word documents, whilst Word can not open .pages at all.
You will probably be better off using either Word for Mac or a free clone like LibreOffice. Even TextEdit and Bean (free) can open and save in Word although they have far less formatting options.
It comes down to what you need from your documents, whilst Apple has touted Pages as a Word substitute, it is not, it is just Word capable.

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Pages 5 can not open Pages 5.1 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Note: Apple has removed over 90 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

Archive/trash Pages 5, after exporting all Pages 5 files to Pages '09 or Word .docx, and rate/review it in the App Store, then get back to work.

You can get the installer here: Download CS4 products
It will install as a fully functional 30 day trial. Entering your serial number will convert it to a permanent version, Standard or Extended, depending on what serial number you purchased.
If you still have the license problem. get back to me with your OS details and the error code.

iCloud storage doesn't affect the available storage on your device. It's for backing up your device and syncing your data, so you can recover the data if needed.
You probably need to import photos/videos to your computer or another destination (like a photo kiosk & burn CDs), and then delete them from your device. Or, delete some unused apps from your device.

If you are able to use the iPhone with sim cards from different carriers so you know it is unlocked, then it should work with an AT and T sim with the permission of AT and T.

What type network? The iPod does not see/connect to the 5 GHz N band, only to the 2.4 GHz N band the the 2.4 GHz B and G networks (the B and G are only 2.4 GHz)

Below is a copy of an 8/7/2013 email from adobe. I prepaid a one-year subscription, and, until I recently upgraded to Windows 8, I was able to make several dozens of merged pdf documents. I seem to be no longer able to use the merge feature that I had successfully and repeated used. When I search for the merge feature I end up with a request that I pay for an upgrade monthly subscription to use the merge feature.

By default iWeb keeps its data in (user)/Library/Application Support/iWeb in a file named Domain. Without this file you cannot proceed (other than by recreating the site from scratch using the published version as a reference) so you need to locate it on the original disk.
To confuse matters, Apple have hidden the user’s Library folder in Lion and Mountain Lion to casual viewers, in an attempt to stop new Mac users messing their machines up. To access it, in the Finder go to the ‘Go’ menu and hold down the Option (Alt) key; the Library folder will appear as a choice.

Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

The device has an 8GB drive for caching streamed meida, a small portion of that is used to temporarily store photos for the screensaver. It may vary depending on resolution etc but it seems to be around 100.

10.5 - 10.6 installation instructions (wipe and installmethod)
Make certain you have backed up your vital data ontoanother drive or cd/dvd's before proceeding.
Disconnect all other drives, hold c and boot offthe 10.5 disk that came with your computer (free iLife included), andselect Disk Utility from the Utilities menu, selecting your internaldrive,Erase> Format HFS+ Journaled > Security Option > ZeroAll Data >Ok (wait for a hour or so)
When it's finished, Quit Disk Utility and your back into the OS XInstaller, install OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Once that's finished, reboot and do the setup like a new machine.
When that's done and your in, stick in the OS X 10.6 disk and runthe installer to upgrade you to 10.6 Snow Leopard.
When that's done, do a Software update. We are at 10.6.8 now.
(note: if you don't have the 10.5 disk that came with yourcomputer, then repeat steps above with the 10.6 disk. Retail OS Xdisks you don't get the free iLife, it's a separate purchase. iLifecomes free on 10.4, 10.5 and 10.6 install disks that come with thecomputer only.)

Clone your new pristine boot drive to a equal size or largerpowered external Firewire 800/400/USB expressively for this purpose(nothing else) using the free Carbon Copy Cloner, it's holdoption bootable (only on your year/model of Mac), will saveyour bacon if your hard drive dies. It can be scheduled to updateyour clone which takes less time than a full clone.. Always DiskUtility >Repair Permissions on all drives after a clone.
