I have close to 4,000 photos in the trash that are eating up valuable space.

They will be deleted from iCloud any other devices that are sharing the account/photo stream. They shouldn't be deleted from Dropbox. As I understand it, Dropbox only automatically uploads photos, it doesn't automatically delete photos.

No, just de-select them on the iPad's Photos tab when connected to your computer's iTunes and they should be deleted from that iPad - they will still be on the laptop and the other iPad. If de-selecting them doesn't remove them from the iPad then try selecting an empty folder on that Photos tab instead.

Actually I suspect that what you mean is that the layer where the image is is locked. In the window menu make sure 'layers' is checked. Find the layer with the image, single click on it's name in the list and hit the 'lock' icon. The lock icon looks like a paddle lock to the right of 'lock:'. You'll see the layer lock or unlock. -

i think i might have to go into apple hopefully they can do something about it... i also enjoyed using it as an ipod too.
i have most of the pictures off it but the last time i used it i took a few more pics and havent backed up since. -
I have photos on my iPad that I want to delete. The problem is I don't have access to the computer used to sync them. It was my ex husbands computer and iTunes account. Is there any other way to delete them?

I have photos on my phone that I can see but cannot get them to download to my computer.... Please help.

Quit Mail. Force quit if necessary.
Back up all data. That means you know you can restore the Mail database, no matter what happens.
Triple-click the line below on this page to select it:
~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/Envelope Index
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar. Paste into the box that opens (command-V), then press return.
A Finder window will open with a file selected. Move the selected file to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Other files in the folder may have names that begin with "Envelope Index". Move those files, if any, to the Trash.
Log out and log back in. Relaunch Mail. It should prompt you to re-import your messages. You may get a warning that the index is corrupt and that Mail has to quit. Click OK.
Test. If Mail now works as expected, you can delete the file you moved to the Desktop. Otherwise, post your results. -

They will not be deleted if they have been imported to your iPhoto library. To ensure this happens automatically, go to iPhoto>Preferences>iCloud and check Automatic Import:
To confirm that they have been imported to your library, click on iCloud on the left sidebar of iPhoto, open your My Photo Stream album on the right, then Control-Click on your pictures. If you see "Show in Library" in the pop-up, the picture has been imported to your library and you can safely delete it from photo stream. -
I have 5 computers authorized on my account and I would like to deauthorize all of them. When I try it tells me I cannot do so until January 2016. Is there a way around this? I no longer have access to the computers that are authorized.
Did you recently deauthorize a bunch of computers? You can only deauthorize all once year.

That's pretty strange, runjudy. Are you looking at the time on the weather application or on the top right corner of your phone? If you reboot the phones, do the times sync up? I have several songs that I purchased. They show in my library, but won't play on any of my devices - including my computer. I keep getting the "authorize the computer" prompt. My computer is authorized! I have done all the troubleshoots that are available. How do I get my computer and other devices to be able to play these songs? Almost all my songs play except for about 8 or 9.
If only some of the songs on an album are giving you the authorisation message, that suggests those song files are damaged.
If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:

Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".

Not all videos in iTunes can be played on AppleTV. If a video is not playing on your AppleTV do this:
1) Select the video
2) Go to the File menu and choose 'Create new version'
3) Choose 'iPad or AppleTV version'
A new copy compatible with AppleTV will be created.
(these steps are intended for iTunes 11. In iTunes 10, click on the Advanced menu)
