I have photoshop elements 6.0 It does ALMOST everything I need it too.

I cant really afford a crazy spendy upgrade. I just need some simple tool masking, pen, pattern save, etc.. I have been running into some problems. I believe I do not have the full version I am unable to use some of the features, no pen tool, can not save patterns etc.... is there a full version update or anything available so I can use those features. Suggestions? i just need some relief from these frustrations. I am tired of recreating patterns and re-downloading them as well. Open to any and all Suggestions..

When I open PSE 6, make a selection, and go to Edit>Define pattern from selection, I get a dialog box where all I have to do is name the pattern and click OK:
The pattern is then appended as the last pattern in the current pattern library, although there is no confirmation of this after clicking OK. It just happens.
If this is not what is happening for you, try deleting the PSE prefs. Quit the editor (quit PSE on a mac) then restart it while holding down ctrl+alt+shift (command+option+shift). Keep the keys down till you see a window asking if you want to delete the settings file. You do.

How did you try to install ACR 8.8. The only way I know of that works with Elements is to use the Updates Choice on the Help menu.

In your case, the Nikon D810 needs Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) 8.6 or Lightroom 5.6. (Congratulations on buying a new camera!)
To get to that level with Photoshop Elements, you will need to replace your Photoshop Elements 12 with version 13. Adobe caps ACR updates on version 12 at 8.5.
The most convenient way to get around it without spending any money is to use the FREE from Adobe DNG Converter. Download and install it from here for FREE: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/thankyou.jsp?ftpID=5855&fileID=5890 Once it is installed you can convert your D810 raw files to an Adobe RAW version with the .DNG file extension that most, if not all, versions of the various Adobe software programs can use. That includes old versions of Photoshop, Elements and Lightroom. DNG converter can be used as the tool to move your files from your memory card to your computer, is efficient, will convert in batches and is completely lossless. There is no risk of any image quality degradation or RAW functionality.

I used to take an image magic wand it or draw around it save it as "work path" and get the outline the way I like save it - I could also then enlarge it. Fill it in with color. Been a while since but it really cleaned stuff up. Did that make sense? Pretty sure it was called work path too. I guess what I want to do is that images and make clean sharp line and then enlarge that. I think that's it. Thanks Ken.

Apparently it's related to the Firefox plug in.
This isn't exactly a solution but more of a way to avoid opening PDFs with Firefox's plug in.
1. Highlight "Tools" from the Menu Bar in the top left of the screen (or click "Options" if using the Firefox Compact Menu)
2. Select to "Options
3. Select "Applications"
4. Look for "Adobe Acrobat Document" under Content Type and to the right under Action select "Use Adobe Reader (default)" instead of the using Adobe Acrobat in Firefox
5. Open a test PDF. It should open in it's own window now.
Again, not a complete solution but something that'll at least let you scroll with PDFs open.

You are doing 2 things wrong:
1. you are trying to run EXE file(installer) on MAC
2. You are trying to run a very old application on latest configuration which is not compatible and may not fulfill the appropriate requirement.

I have Photoshop Elements 12 and the new Canon 7D mark II. My RAW files will not open.

I have already downloaded the plugin 8.7. I ran the exe file, an it still doesn't work. Am I am going to have to buy Photoshop elements 13 to get my RAW files to open? If that's the answer, I'll do that, but I just want to know for sure before I buy it.

Hi,
Camera raw 8.7.1 is not supported by Photoshop Elements 12.
You need to upgrade to Photoshop Elements 13 or you could use the Adobe DNG converter.
The DNG converter is a standalone application which can take the CR2 files and convert them toDNG files. The DNG files can then be processed by Photoshop Elements 12. This does add an extra step to your workflow though.

I have Photoshop Elements 13. My laptop does great with opening JPEG pictures, but now I want to start working with RAW photo's which are 20meg. They open very slowly with Elements 13 even with 8 gig of RAM. So now it is time to look at buying another computer. I am on a shoe string budget but want to be able get the job done. Can someone make a recommendation?
Also, can I run Photoshop Elements 13 on Windows 7? I am currently using Windows 8.

Elements 10 does not have a direct interface with Revel. You can upload from your computer to revel via adoberevel.com, via the revel app if you use Win8 or Mac, or via an upgrade to Elements 11 or 12. (Elements 11 has upload/download ability, Elements 12 has mobile albums that stay in sync)

You are right.
Before HiDpi displays became available three years ago, you could find advice about what was the good resolution for displays, depending on their size in in/cm and viewing distance.
- For relatively big displays (22" to 30") a pixel resolution of 1920 x 1200 or 1920 x 1080 was considered optimal.
- For big laptops or small desktop, 1680 x 1050 or 1640 x 900 were good.
In Windows, you could set the size of fonts to full resolution or 25% or 50% bigger... if the software supports this feature, which was not the case with Photoshop, Elements... The size of the fonts was deternined and fixed in the software itself, with no way to scale the fonts. The solution needed Microsoft to provide developpers with new programming interfaces and the solution for developpers was to rewrite a substantial part of the code.
Anyway, to enable good viewing of characters on common 12 or 13" HiDpi displays, you need to use the fonts at 200%.
And that makes sense. To see the same characters on a 12" display the same as on a 24", they must be twice the size... good rule of thumbs.

That depends. If you bought the disc version, you're good to go, since your serial number works on both platforms, so just install the mac version. If you lost the discs or your mac doesn't have a disc drive, you can download it here:

However, if you bought the windows version as a download, you're out of luck. Adobe does do a crossgrade, but for older versions you have to pay to upgrade to current version on the new platform, and that's more expensive than just buying it, if you search around for a good price.
