I have photoshop elements 9. what's the best to move the application to a new PC?
I have photoshop element 9. I will be getting a new PC. Would a software migration tool like Laplink's PC Mover work? Or, is there a better way
to move program and settings?
I'll be going from Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit to Windows 8,1 if that matters.
thx
I would use the pse 9 installer to install pse 9 on your new computer
If you don't have a dvd or download of pse 9 you can get it from here:
http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/photoshop-elements-7-8-9-downloads.html
Also, if you don't plan to use pse 9 on your old computer, deactivate it on your old computer before installing on your new computer

I presently have Photoshop Element 6. what is the best to upgrade to?
I presently have Photoshop Element 6. What should I upgrade to and why?
Did you intend to post this in the Photoshop General Discussion forum?
In any case, I use to use Photoshop Elements 9 myself and wanted more than what Elements offered so I ultimately decided on Photoshop CC.
Yes, it's a subscription. It's pretty cheap enough at $10 USD/month via the Creative Cloud Photography Program. You get Lightroom on top of it and any and all updates and new features to both as they're announced.
The alternatives are the latest version of Photoshop Elements (version 13 now, if I recall) and Photoshop CS6. Both are "permanent" licenses; no subscriptions needed. However, in CS6's case, it's permanent in the sense of "no more updates/new features other than critical updates." Take into account CS6's cost and what I just typed. -
Photoshop Elements Organizer:
For example : I have pictures taken on 6 continents all stored in the same catalog and I want to create one catalog for each continent (Africa, Asia, etc).
How to proceed?
ThanksUse tags instead of splitting the catalog. There is no built-in procedure to split catalogs.

?
Did it work in previous sessions? If so, suggest that you reset the tool.
To do that, there should be a little arrow on the tool's option bar, top left. Click on it, then reset. -

Dear Ankush,
Thank you for your help. I followed the directions on the link and tried to change the security settings (there were some that I had missed, like the 'sites' on my own), but I still can't get AIR to download. I'm still getting security errors for some reason.
Sincerely,

Have Photoshop Elements from 2001. Got new computer with Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. It won't run on my new computer. What version is MOST SIMILAR to the old version I have, that will run on W7P-64? Thanks for any help. Popjer
You should probably just download the trial version of pse 12 and see if you can live with it.
Download a free trial or buy Adobe products | Adobe downloads
That being said, have you tried to install pse 1 on your computer?
How much free space is on your hard drive?
Do you have Internet Explorer 10 or 11?
Pse 1 can run on windows 7 x64, provided certain conditions are met. -
I cannot install Photoshop Elements 2.0 on the iMac I got last year. I have been using the PSElements on my PC OK. What should I do besides getting the latest PSElements?
I think PE 2 only worked as far OS 10.3 Panther. There is no alternative but to get the version that works on your 10.7 Lion Machine, which I think is PE 6 or higher.

The display resolution allows a user to set according to pixels I think, eg 3200 x 1800. So which setting is considered normal? It does not have a "normal field.
You are right.
Before HiDpi displays became available three years ago, you could find advice about what was the good resolution for displays, depending on their size in in/cm and viewing distance.
- For relatively big displays (22" to 30") a pixel resolution of 1920 x 1200 or 1920 x 1080 was considered optimal.
- For big laptops or small desktop, 1680 x 1050 or 1640 x 900 were good.
In Windows, you could set the size of fonts to full resolution or 25% or 50% bigger... if the software supports this feature, which was not the case with Photoshop, Elements... The size of the fonts was deternined and fixed in the software itself, with no way to scale the fonts. The solution needed Microsoft to provide developpers with new programming interfaces and the solution for developpers was to rewrite a substantial part of the code.
Anyway, to enable good viewing of characters on common 12 or 13" HiDpi displays, you need to use the fonts at 200%.
And that makes sense. To see the same characters on a 12" display the same as on a 24", they must be twice the size... good rule of thumbs. -
I have Photoshop Elements 12. When I open the organizer, click on a picture, then want to use the Editor, I get an error message. If I click on the Editor from the Welcome screen, error message. What happened to my Editor?
I would suggest un-installing via the Windows control panel and then download again and re-install. Try an alternative link and validate with your 24 digit serial number - click here for PSE downloads

I have Photoshop Elements 12 for both PC and Mac (I use both). I have a new camera, Nikon D810. I downloaded the latest version of Camera Raw, 8.8. My D810 is listed as a supported camera model. However, when I try to open a raw photo in Photoshop Elements, I keep getting the message "Could not complete your request because the file appears to be from a camera model which is not supported by the installed version of Camera Raw. I have tried reinstalling Camera Raw many times, and have tried to open many different raw files in Elements, and still get the same error message. Please help.
How did you try to install ACR 8.8. The only way I know of that works with Elements is to use the Updates Choice on the Help menu.
There are two charts supplied by Adobe that explain your RAW dilemma. This one tells you what your camera needs: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html This one tells you what version of software you need: http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/camera-raw-compatible-applications.html
In your case, the Nikon D810 needs Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) 8.6 or Lightroom 5.6. (Congratulations on buying a new camera!)
To get to that level with Photoshop Elements, you will need to replace your Photoshop Elements 12 with version 13. Adobe caps ACR updates on version 12 at 8.5.
The most convenient way to get around it without spending any money is to use the FREE from Adobe DNG Converter. Download and install it from here for FREE: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/thankyou.jsp?ftpID=5855&fileID=5890 Once it is installed you can convert your D810 raw files to an Adobe RAW version with the .DNG file extension that most, if not all, versions of the various Adobe software programs can use. That includes old versions of Photoshop, Elements and Lightroom. DNG converter can be used as the tool to move your files from your memory card to your computer, is efficient, will convert in batches and is completely lossless. There is no risk of any image quality degradation or RAW functionality. -
After re-installing Win 7 64 on my computer, and attempting to install my copy of Adobe Photoshop Elements, I now get the following message: "This version of Photoshop Elements requires MS Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher to be installed". Does anyone have an idea of what the problem is? It has always worked in the past.
I have found a temporary solution, allowing the previous version of iTunes (v. 11.1.3 (x64) in my case) to be re-installed. It will allow you to re-establish use of iTunes until the Apple software engineers fix the most recent disasterous upgrade (v. 11.1.4). Please see and follow the procedure in the following article:http://smallbusiness.chron.com/reverting-previous-version-itunes-32590.html The previous version works beautifully.

I have Photoshop Elements 7.0 and when I go to sort the photos in order (from oldest date) I keep getting the message "Photoshop Elements 7.0 has stopped working" and then the program closes. Sometimes, eventually it has sorted as I request but today this has been rejected over 15 times. What is wrong?
Try the licensing service update:
http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-licensing-stopped-windows.html
EDIT I see that maybe you did (is that the patch you mean? ); if so, try the other suggestions there. -
I have photoshop elements 11 installed on my desktop pc, I want to install it on my laptop as well, I read that it can be installed on two systems, but I get a message taht the redemption code has been used by another ID, please help
A redemption code can only be redeemed once. It is used to acquire a serial number. The serial number is what you need to activate the installed software. If you did not keep the serial number when you first installed, you might still be able to find it in your Adobe account online if you registered the software.

1) Apps are not part of the backup, only data stored by 3rd party apps. But you can redownload the apps for free again if you use the same account you did when you bought them the first time. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
2) See this article http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766 and find out what's in your backup.
3) Backup your itunes+ library (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1382 and http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1751), which will copy your Mobile Applications folder, and save your iphone backup folder as well
In other words, maintaining a backup of your computer is essential.
When you resync your apps from your computer to the phone, make sure your computer is authorized again. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1420 -
