Do the following, then try again:
1.     Close all open apps: Double click on the Home key and then swipe up on each of the thumbnails that appear above the open app icons
2.     Sign out of the iTunes store: Settings>iTunes & App Store, click on your Apple/iTunes ID, then sign out
3.     Check Settings>Safari, and make sure that "Block Cookies" is not set to "Always". If it is, change it to either of the other two options
4.     Make sure you do not have Restrictions turned on. If they are turned on, make sure that access is allowed for Safari, iTunes Store, Installing Apps, and Deleting Apps
5.     Reset your device (nothing will be lost): Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Silver Apple appears (up to 30 seconds). Once the Home screen redisplays sign back into iTunes and try again

I have had a problem with the compatibility of Firefox running with the games I play online. I don't want to attempt an upgrade again, only to have to turn around and degrade so my activities can work. Furthermore, I'm not sure where to save the Firefox file in my system, since for some reason it doesn't take me right to where it should save.

if itunes can no longer pickup your ipod, and you cant even do anything to your ipod, your best option is to either call apple care, or just take it to the nearest apple shop. i had a similar problem, mines currently at apple care repairs and they might just end up giving me a replacement.

I have been on the phone twice today with my carrier. They reset it the first time, it worked for an hour then messed up again. They reset it a SECOND time.. I would like to know the answer to that one. I realized this was happening just after upgradeing my iOS to 6. Then when I looked up my purchase date, I was about 5 days past my one year warranty. So I'm dead in the water. Apple will replace the battery, but it will be about $80+. I took it to the Apple store, and they checked a bunch of stuff, but said that it seemed ok. I'm debating getting a battery for a more reasonable price off of ebay. But if it's the iOS thats draining the battery, then I'm not going to be able to help it. I wish I knew a better way to tell if its the battery, the phone, or the iOS.

It sounds like you are unable to turn on Wi-Fi because the option is grayed out in Settings. Use these steps from the following article named:
iOS: Wi-Fi settings grayed out or dim
http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1559
Restart your iOS device.
Make sure that airplane mode is off by tapping Settings > Airplane Mode.
Reset the network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
This will reset all network settings, including Bluetooth pairing records, Wi-Fi passwords, VPN, and APN settings.
Make sure that your device is using the latest software. To do so, connect your device to your computer and check for updates in iTunes.
If you still can't turn Wi-Fi on, please contact Apple for support and service options. If you can turn Wi-Fi on but are experiencing other issues with Wi-Fi, please see these steps.
