With iTunes 11 you can enable the left-hand sidebar via control-S on a PC, option-command-S on a Mac. It sounds like you are unable to connect your iOS devices without it becoming unresponsive. That would frustrate me too. I would use the following article about that very issue to help you resolve that:

Start with these 3 steps to make sure the other devices are up to date as well, and there is additional troubleshooting to be done in the article if needed:
Install any available software updates for your computer.
For Mac OS X: Click the Apple () menu, choose Software Update, and follow the on-screen instructions.
For Windows: Refer to the documentation for your computer for instructions on using Windows Update to update your computer.
Update iTunes to the latest version.
For Mac OS X: Click the Apple () menu, choose Software Update, and follow the on-screen instructions. You can also download iTunes from the Apple website.
For Windows: Use Apple Software Update, or download iTunes from the Apple website.
Test with automatic syncing disabled.

Do this by deselecting all syncing options under each of the syncing tabs and then sync. After that, re-enable your sync options one at a time until the issue returns.
Note: If the issue only occurs when syncing data from the Info tab is enabled (For example: Contact, Calendar, Mail account or Bookmark syncing), reset the Sync History (for Mac OS X instructions see this article, for Windows see this article).

My iPhone 4 alert volume keeps turning its self down even though the volume is turned up. The only way to correct is to turn the phone off and then back on.
YES! This is really killing me and you're the only one to bring it up in discussions! I constantly have to turn it off and on to get it back to norm, and this other reply about clean wiping in/resetting it is just too much of a pain in the @#*. I don't have the apple warranty, but do have verizon as a carrier with insurance. I wonder if they'll have a clue as to what to do, or just default to the idiocy that is the norm. The alarm doesn't sound a second time though the snooze IS enabled
Whether I pick up my phone 10 min later or an hour later it shows the alarm screen where it says tap to hit snooze or slide to shut off (or whatever it is). Like it's still set and the alarm is going off and it's waiting for me to shut it off (though there's no alarm sounding). It goes off the first time and that's it. The snooze is enabled, the volume is up. I have fallen back to sleep multiple times as I rely on my phone alarm. I have gone through the settings of the alarm and everything is set perfectly.
Submit a "bug report" on the Apple Feedback page. Sounds like something they should fix.

My question is how do I watch music videos while my iPad is connected to the cd player in my car? I haveva new cd player. I get sound but screen just says accessory connected and I canted anything to the touch screen. Any tips?

Ok, thanks for clarifying your modem model. Per your input, this would be the correct configuration (physically) for both the modem and the AirPort Express. By default, the Express would broadcast an unsecured Wi-Fi network with a network name of something like: Apple Network NNNNNN. A switch connected to the Express' LAN (opposing arrows) ports, as you have it, would provide additional Ethernet connections beyond the single one provided by the Express. The key here is that the Express, by default, would have NAT & DHCP services enabled. You would NOT want the Express to be in Bridge mode (both of those services disabled.)

My MacBook Pro is stuck on the loading screen and sounds as if its about the take off?!
Hi everyone. About 3 hours ago my laptop suddenly became very unresponsive and began freezing a lot. I cleared the cookies on Firefox, but the problem carried on so I tried rebooting. Now it has been stuck on the loading screen for about half an hour, sounding like a rocket ready to take off.. I brought it second hand and I don't have an installation CD, at least if I do it's not here at uni with me anyway.. Any ideas?! Thanks
Not knowing what your os is very difficult regarding offering troubleshooting solutions. Most if not all the system discs are machine specific.
Replacement System Discs can be obtained from Apple's Customer Support - US (800) 767-2775 for a nominal fee. You'll need to have the model and serial number of your Mac available.

For all you who have problems here is the fix for your phone.
Most of you on here don't understand that 3.x or if you have jailbreak your pass software and set it up from back up you are going to have problems. That can be from drop calls to not having the phone working right.
The 4.0 software has been rewritten completed for the new and old phones. So if you were on 3.x and update to 4.0 then you are bring in a bugs into 4.0. You have to set up as NEW PHONE not from back up. This clean your phone with a fresh software then you add your stuff from your computer. Then you have to go to general and go and reset your network settings. That reset your carrier account with the new 4.0. That because the new 4.0 is now looking to find the tower which has the less people on the tower not which tower is close to you. This way you get a better service and sound of it.
If you still have problems all of you with your iPhone 4 then it a hardware problem. You have to go to the Apple store and replace the phone. Apple will be happy to replace the phone. If not you have 30 days to get your full refund from Apple.
That is it. Nothing hard about it. It's a software problem of a hardware problem. BTW my new iPhone 4 is much better in sound and not having any drop calls than my old 3GS. If you have problems with drop calls is because you are in area which has a week tower which is so busy and can't keep up with the system. That a ATT problem which ATT is working hard to fix it but it can't get the equipment from their supplies fast enough to fix the problem with the network.

If you've upgraded to the new iPhone 4 and have restored your old software, you may see what appears to be a signal drop-off. Let's stay away from the whole iPhone 4 "death grip" controversy; that aside, no matter what you do, you're not seeing as many bars or getting reception that's as good as what you had with your older iPhone.
Here's something to try. On your iPhone preferences, navigate to "General," and then scroll down to the bottom where it says "Reset." Tap that, and then tap "Reset Network Settings." You'll get a warning, and the phone will reset to factory defaults. You'll likely lose some Wi-Fi passwords, but you may also find that your cellular reception gets a lot better.
I have two friends who tried this, and they went from one or two bars to four or five at the same locations. This is the same trick they are doing at the Genius Bar, and my research shows that it can help in many (but not all) cases. We've talked about this fix before, but we have a lot of new readers, and some old ones, who may have missed it. There are also some discussions about this on the Apple support board. If you have seen a drop-off in reception, it's certainly worth a try. If it doesn't work, we're sorry. If it does, well, the price is right for the fix. I am trying to get audio to play through the soundbar attached to the TV for great sound. Works fine with Apple TV, but on the MacBook Air, system preferences will only find the TV speakers. If I change the settings on the TV to external speakers (the soundbar), then I get no sound at all. The HDMI connection does what it is supposed to do, providing video and audio, but the audio can only go to the TV. I don't know if you can go backward and send only video through HDMI and then connect to the soundbar through the mini jack ports on the computer and the soundbar. Any solutions will be appreciated.
its important to do this in the correct order so the camera will be senced by the Mac and to prevent the Firewire connection from electrical damage:
power down your Mac
connect firewire from camera to Mac
power on camera and insert tape in camera and play back
power up Mac
start QuickTime
File > Preferences > record tab
video source - select the camera you have
sound source - select the camera you have
quality - select device native
the video should show in the QuicTime window
a green line below video will show presence of sound-it will play through the speakers if they are selected in system prefernces
rewind tape and playback
click on red button to start recording -

I make a new event, I set the Alert = Message (NOT "message with sound"). When event happens on the iMac there is no sound. Same event, syched to the iPhone, has sound.
I have deleted events, recreated, synched. Absolutly certain Alert is "message only." No change in behavior.
I have checked all preferences. iCal is set to automatically add an alert but I make sure I add the alert myself without sound.
I just found the iPhone settings/sounds/calendar.alerts and I set this to "vibrate only." I assume this will shut off the sound on ALL calendar alerts. That's not really what I want to do (I want sound on some events, just not on every event) but if that's the only option available I'll take it.
Can I get the iPhone to do what I tell it to do instead of overriding my settings?If it is not in Airplane mode then look here:
