I have problems with my email and Lion.
When a message comes into my in-box, I can't open it. I get the 'busy' icon and the system hangs until I close it. If I move the message to a folder, I can sometimes open it, sometimes not. I get error messages after the move and the original is left in the in-box until I manually delete it. The problem seems worse when there is a photo attached. I am working with the 1&1 mail server. After consulting the Apple support (which was very friendly) I reinstalled Lion so I am working with a completely new installation and still having trouble.

While the exact reason is still obscure, some suggest that the third party company that licensed Rosetta to Apple is no longer willing to do so. Also, after five years, Apple could just be saying that their support for PPC applications will not longer be supported in OS X updates, starting with Lion; it's time has run its course.

Are you using the latest version of Silverkeeper? - v.2.0.2 is stated to be compatible with Snow Leopard.

I am using iPhoto 11 and my library has 736.5mb on disk. I have problems with iPhoto stalling and needing to force quit. I have rebuilt my library. Can you suggest anything else? Thanks, Rose
Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.

3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
NOTE 2: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
If that does'nt help log into another user account on your Mac and try iPhoto from there. -
After upgrading to firefox 3.6 I have problem with hotmail email service

Also, I have two computers and the other is running the exact same version of Firefox, and the exact same theme, but it does not have this problem.
To make sure I'm being clear: there is an "x" on each tab that allows me to close it when I have multiple tabs open. When I have only one tab open, there is no "x"; so in order to close the webpage I have to open another empty tab, and then close the first. My other computer has the "x" to close the tab visible even when there is only one tab so that I can close the page and have an empty (marked "(untitled)" tab). Please help! -

You should be able to link your phone number by following the steps in the article below. From your iPhone, sign out of FaceTime and iMessage and then sign back in and it should link. Check in the Start Conversation With and I Can Be Reached at section in iMessage and FaceTime respectively.

I have pop up from adobe that tell me they have problem with my paiement and billing information and to go in my account or my lisence will stop working in 25 days again... I can't find anything wrong in my account infos. What do I need to check and change? Adobe takes the money directly on my credit card since almost 2 years and I haven't change anything sicne then. The expiration date is good. Also, I'm not able to contact the Adobe support, it's not available.

Problem with outgoing email and 1.0.1
Outgoing email seems slower, especially with SSL enabled. I am configured with IMAP to exchange, BUT use smtp.dslextreme.com for outgoing. The email will send out but it will take over a minute. I did not have this problem with 1.0 and I had the same configuration with 1.0.
Well, i decided to use my gmail account for my outgoing smtp configuration and that works great, and with ssl. So i am going to say my problem is with dslextreme and use google for outgoing now. Thanks Apple, this phone kicks ***.

Downloaded latest update for iphone 4 ios 5.1.1. last night - now having problems with my emails - all show being sent - but not being received also no b.c.c. to myself coming up on iphone. Any ideas??
The passcode settings simply give you the option of having the passcode lock immediately you lock the screen, or after a delay period. If you set a delay the passcode lock will not activate for the period of the delay. I have mine set to one minute. It is a "convenience" measure to save me having to re-enter the passcode if I lock the screen then immediately remember that there was something else I wanted to do. Obviously this entails a small compromise on security and if you are at all concerned then you should set the passcode to "Immediately". It really has nothing to do with the camera short-cut (though loads of users seem to have run away with this notion). It would be the same if you just did "slide to unlock" during the delay period.

Please help I have problems with songs,podcasts,and just general media play
hey guys, I'll get straight into it. My problem is that many of the songs and podcasts in my library come up with the little exclamation mark when I havn't changed anything or deleted anything, so I have to find the original files, which occasisionally just dissapear for no apparent reason. Also I have problems with d/l podcasts as sometimes it wont d/l the newest edition etc but comes up with the little '!' mark. I have just upgraded to iTunes 7 and although the problem was occuring before the upgrade just aggravated it, and messed up my library files causing me to revert to an older library.
Now last and most importantly, my audio has suddenly become choppy since I upgraded. This is similar to the problem I have with the sound in Quicktime only working properly if I keep all other apps and tasks to a bare minimum (even if they take up barely any system resources). This seems strange as my system is not exactly poor performance.

If you right click a file, and do getinfo on the summary page this will give a file location, is this matching the file location on your hard disk? If not that might explain the exclamation marks?

Partition problem with Win 7 and Lion
I have a 2011 Mac Mini with two hard drives - the original 500GB drive and a SSD. The SSD is laid out as follows:

3) Original recovery partition 650M
4) Space set aside for OSX HFS+ 160G (has some big files in it)
5) Space set aside for Windows NTFS 300G (no files in it yet)
I think there is a problem with MBR vs GPT and Disk Utility vs Disk Management.
Disk Utility or fdisk calls it

Windows Disk Management is happy to see inside the HFS partitions, so I know all my files are at least still there. I had a 5th NTFS partition formatted, but upon going into Lion and back, it disappeared.
I think ideally what I would like to have is a spare Lion + recovery partition on this drive in case my SSD barfs, then a big NTFS partition to hold my Windows files. I guess merging the 40G OSX and 160G HFS+ partitions will be ok. Could the problem be related to MBR having a limit of 4 partitions? There isn't any data on this drive that isn't backed up, but I would rather do this partition fixing shuffle without having to restore big files. Any suggestions on how to proceed?I managed to fix the problem. First I used Disk Utility to delete the NTFS partition. It hung during the process, so I quit it, and the partition was deleted anyway. Next, I used gdisk to change the partition type from 0700 to AF00 and AB00 for the Lion and Recovery partitions respectively. It worked and I can access the partitions under OSX again. TS1424 Anyone have problems with iTune purchases and functions when overseas?
I am in Israel, been here for three weeks and had no problems with apps updates, purchases,etc.
suddenly it says that I cannot coplete transactions because PayPal is declining payments.
However a quick check with PayPal shows that my account is in order and it should NOT be a problem.
There is a suggestion that being in another country is related to the problem.
Is this Possible ?I have this exact problem. Also affects any app that is using map services (like foursquare). I've had Apple replace the phone (didn't help), had Verizon replace the SIM card (didn't help), and so I am still trying to solve this while Apple and Verizon point at each other and say that the other one is the problem.

Have problems with Only Search and McKeeper

I made a big mistake: I 've downloaded the "MacKeeper".
When I'm on Safari, I can't start through google, because there is always a mysterious "Only Search" that starts my researches even if I've given "google" as first page in Safari. Despite this, The "MacKeeper" alway opens itself on new pages even if I canceled it.

AlexThere is no need to download anything to solve this problem.
You may have installed the "Downlite" or "VSearch" ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it.
Back up all data before making any changes.
Malware is always changing to get around the defenses against it. In addition to, or instead of, the files listed in the support article, you may need to remove the following items:
/Library/Application Support/dot
/Library/LaunchAgents/com.dot.agent.plist
/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.dot.daemon.plist
/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.dot.helper.plist
/System/Library/Frameworks/v.framework
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, then you may have one of the other kinds of adware covered by the support article. Follow the rest of the instructions in the article.
The problem may have started when you downloaded and ran an application called "MPlayerX." That's the name of a legitimate free movie player, but the name is also used fraudulently to distribute VSearch. If there is an item with that name in the Applications folder, delete it, and if you wish, replace it with the genuine article from mplayerx.org.
This malware is often found on illegal websites that traffic in pirated content such as movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Problem with Bluetooth Keyboard and Lion?
I've just purchased a 21" imac running os x lion 10.7.3 and although the mac sees the keyboard when I set up the Keyboard from system prefs, it says 'keyboard cannot be found even though the Bluetooth prefs says it's there'.
Second, there's an on/off button on the right hand side which glows green for a second when it's pushed, and ditto if you push it again, so I don't know if the keyboard is on or off! Surely it should glow grren when ON and not when OFF or is there a problem with the keyboard itself?

That is the way it is designed. When you turn the KB on, the light is on for a brief period of time. It does not stay on.

I downloaded MacKeeper last year. Today my browser is messed up and I am getting popups. MacKeeper keeps popping up to download, so I updated my subscription-still messed up. Is this malware and if so, why did it show up a year later and after I paid again to update!?
You installed a variant of the "VSearch" trojan. Remove it as follows.
This malware has many variants. Anyone else finding this comment should not expect it to be applicable.
Back up all data before proceeding.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

Flash CC is showing objects too large on my retina display?
