That file could be set as a Launch Agent or Daemon in your ~/Library or /Library, You could try to look for it or Safeboot your computer and then empty the trash.     * Mac computer with an Intel, PowerPC G5, or PowerPC G4 (867MHz or faster) processor
minimum system requirements
    * 512MB of memory (I say 1.5GB for PPC at least, 2-3GB minimum for IntelMacs)
    * DVD drive for installation
    * 9GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)
Classic/OS9 Apps no longer supported.

No, nothing will prevent the computer from going to sleep when you close its display except third-party hacks that are designed to do exactly that. I strongly advise against using any of those, as they may interfere with successful entry into clamshell mode (and they carry other downside risks as well). Just wait until the computer is asleep (with its sleep light pulsing), then press any key on the keyboard. It sounds as though your setup is working as it's designed to do.

I found an article from Apple that specifically outlines how to try and troubleshoot this issue. It's called iPhone: Troubleshooting activation issues found here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3424.
Resolution
Perform the following steps if you receive one of the messages above:
Restart the iPhone.
Try another means of reaching the activation server and attempt to activate.
Try connecting to Wi-Fi if you're unable to activate using a cellular data connection.
Try connecting to iTunes if you're unable to activate using Wi-Fi.
Restore the iPhone.
If you receive an alert message when you attempt to activate your iPhone, try to place the iPhone in recovery mode and perform a restore. If you're still unable to complete the setup assistant due to an activation error, contact Applefor assistance.

If your phone (plus syncing) is the only place you keep your pictures you are asking for trouble, theft or not. Back up onto an external hard disk which is only mounted when you need it, then nothing external can erase them. Then make use of Apple's facilities for protecting your phone:

Your hard drive is dead and you'll need a new one. If you're the least bit handy, you can replace the drive yourself. You need to decide what capacity and speed you want out of a new drive.
I'm hoping that you had backup schemes in place? If not, there's a chance that, with a tool such as DiskWarrior, you MIGHT be able to grab some data from your dead/dying drive.

There haven't been any problems with the computer, apart from a sticky curser,I have run a permissions programme from disk utility, there were a lot of different ones, but it seem to be able to fix them.

First backup your users files off the machine to a external storage drive (not TimeMachine!)
Most commonly used backup methods
Next to startup from the disk, have it inserted, hold c or option/alt (wired or built in keyboard) and then boot the computer and or select the disk when it appears and click the arrow.
Disk Utility is under the Utilities menu on the second screen.
Step by Step to fix your Mac
If you used the wrong 10.6 disk, it will spit it out or have issues, use the one that came with that machine or if it's defective, call Apple for a new one.

You can't sign in because there is nothing to sign in to. For PSE 10 the only sign in was to photoshop.com, which has been dead and gone for a year and half. Just skip the sign in. Reinstalling will not change this.

In Acrobat Reduction is a two-step process.
1. Tools->Protection->Mark for Reduction. In this step you mark all content that you want to reduct out.
2. Tools->Protection->Apply Reduction. Then save the reducted PDF (with a different name/location if you want to have the original available).
The Reduction tool in Acrobat permanently removes the reducted content from the saved PDF, so that it is not there. Because of that anyone who opens saved reducted PDF cannot undo reduction because the reducted content is not even in the file.
Make sure that you performed step 2. If you just performed step1 and saved the file, the to be reducted content is still there. This is useful wgen several people reduct the same PDF and want to see what has been already reducted.

Depending on how the app is programmed, generally to force close an app, double tap the home button. You'll see the app icons and previews on the screen. Scroll sideways if needed to bring up the app in question. Flick the preview for that app up and off the screen. then single tap the home button or the home page preview to exit the mode
The app should then reboot from closed instead of just reopening

The support for that camera was added in the very latest release of Lightroom, version 5.7.1. Having downloaded Camera Raw 8.7.1 will have no effect on Lightroom because Lightroom doesn't use the Camera Raw plug-in. You need to make sure you have updated Lightroom to the very latest release in order to have support for that camera.
