I have removed my mountain lion from my mac, when i was installing windows

i made a mistake and i removed my mountain lion from my computer and installed windows, Is there any process that i will follow to recover my os.

You can try Command+R  (local Recovery from Recovery HD) or Command+Opt+R (Internet Recovery) - Please see OS X: About OS X Recovery.
Please make sure that you have backed up Windows first, if it is still bootable.
You should be able to boot windows using Alt key during power up of your Mac.

Just bought Mountain Lion from the app store on my Macbook Pro. In the middle of installion it froze up my computer saying that the installation failed,
It says my Hard Drive is damaged and cant be repaired. Has anyone had this problem? Im completely screwed...Thanks Apple!!

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities,
I had a similar issue and it was an easy fix for me. First you need to log out of your account completely in the Mac App Store. Quit the application. Re-open the Mac App Store. Click log-in, enter your Apple-ID and password. Now when the screen pops-up that has all of your billing/credit card information on it DO NOT select done. Instead select View my Account, then select View hidden purchases. There you should be able to find iPhoto. Hope this helps if not let me know. I'm still searching solutions for you.

Hello, I have mistakenly deleted all partitions on my mac while trying to install windows on my macbook pro, how do i reinstall the mac os back. I just wanted to have them both, please help. thank you in advance

Install Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Using Internet Recovery
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
    1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
    2. After DU loads select your newly installed hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion. Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

I have been downloading Mountain Lion for MAC for over 4 hrs. and it seems to be stuck about 2/3 of the way through.  I have a I mac that is only 2 yrs old has 8 GB memory and I updated all software, checked utilitie for any disc repairs andbacked up everything before I started this process.  Can someone tell me what to do  Right now the version is OSX 10.6.8.

Let it go... these DL's take forever, depending on the spped of your connection and the traffic on the servers.
If by morning it is still sitting there restart and the DL should pick up from where it left off.

  • Downloading OSX Lion & OSX Mountain Lion from the Mac AppStore.

If I ever download one software on my macbook pro, will I have to buy it twice for my macbook air or will it download as an app via iCloud?

    Hi..
If you are running v10.6.8 as your profile suggets, you do not need to upgraade to Lion before upgrading to Mountain Lion.
See Steps 1, 2, and 3, here >   Apple - Upgrade your Mac to OS X Mountain Lion.
Upgrading from one Mac OS X to another is not iCloud related.

You can pause the download as many times as you need. The download will resume when you wake up the iMac

Hello, Thought I had just downloaded Mountain Lion butcannot find any evidence that it was installed. It is not showing as an icon anywhere and is not listed in downloads and is not listed under purchased apps. Have I just sat here for two hours watching a download that didn't happen? I do have a folder of incompatible software that's all.
How do I know it has been installed?

Hello and thanks. I downloaded the upgrade again after your reply to be sure and I believe all is operating smoothly now. Your reply gave me some confidence. I suspect I should not have clicked on a 'x' symbol soon after the download which may have accidentally deleted something before the download/installation process had been completed. Oops probably all my fault.  Birdie39

  • Can I remove a CD Rom from one Mac pro and re-install it in another mac pro

One mac pro, my computer has a CD ROM that doesn't open and my brother's old Mac Pro has a CD ROM that still opens and closes how easy would it be for me to remove the CD ROM from my brother's old Mac Pro and re-install it in my Mac Pro

2008 and previous used ATA/IDE DVD Readers.
2009 and later used SATA DVD Readers.
You cannot cross the line without changing the cabling, which may be more expensive that just replacing the drive with a new one.
You both should be sure to update to 10.6.8 if you have not already done so, to provide enhanced malware protection. If you cannot do that, turn off JAVA (not javascript) in all your Browsers.

  • How to reinstall mountain lion from another mac through time machine ?

    couple of questions:

3 - i'm planning to give the MBP to my younger brother and would like none of my personal data.
    Thanks in Advance

  • Creating my own Fusion Drive: Do I need to buy Mountain Lion from the app store to reinstall the OS? Do I lose the iLife apps?

I just bought a Mac Mini (late 2012) with a 1TB HDD and I'm planning to install a second drive, an SSD (Samsung 840 evo) and create the Fusion Drive, and I have a couple of questions:
1- I've read lots of articles on how to do this but I'm not sure if I have to buy Mountain Lion from the app store (to reinstall the OS after I install the second drive) since I'm not able to see it on the "Purchased" list of apps, or if I can just reinstall OS X with OS X Utilities.
2- I read somewhere that if I make my own Fusion Drive when I reinstall OS X I will lose iLife, is this true? Or will I be able to redownload it from the store? I really don't want to lose iMovie, iPhoto and GarageBand and I'm confused about it.
Thanks in advance for any help and information you can give me!

Thankyou very much lllaass, that's exactly what I wanted to be sure about!

  • I have installed a OSX 10.7.5 and I want to install a clean copy of OS X mountain Lion on my mac.

I want to install a clean copy of Mountain Lion not an update from my current version which is 10.7.5.
I do not want to keep my old program files. I already have my personal info backed up.
    Thanks

If you don’t have it yet, get Mountain Lion from the Mac App Store but do not install it yet (orredownload it if you did install it)
Create a bootable install drive for OS X Mountain Lion, make one manually with a USB drive oruse the LionDiskMaker tool to automate the process with a USB or DVD
With the boot installer drive connected to the Mac, reboot and hold down the Option key
Choose the “Mac OS X Installer” startup volume from the boot menu
Select “Disk Utility” and choose the hard drive you wish to format, click the “Erase” tab, and then pull down the “Format” menu and select “Mac OS Extended (Journaled)” as the type, name the drive if you wish
Click the “Erase” button and let the drive format – this is the point of no return
When finished, quit out of Disk Utility and now select the “Install Mac OS X” option from the menu
Choose your freshly formatted hard drive and install Mountain Lion
When the Mac reboots you will have a clean installation of Mac OS X 10.8 to work with.
I did this last week and its working fine

  • Duplicate Mountain Lion on others Mac from the one issuded of update programme

I baught a MBair that I have update to Mountain Lion from the update programm. Is it possible to duplicate it on my others Mac without paying a new licence?
    Thanks for your response.
    jldpolux

The OS X Mountain Lion software content code must be used solely with the products that qualify for this offer.
    http://www.apple.com/osx/uptodate/
The update program is to provide a "free" update for a machine that was purchased a short period before Mountain Lion was introduced (or machines sold right at that time that still had Lion installed).  The purpose is to basically let you get the most current version of the OS on your newly purchased system.  It's not appropriate to use it on other systems as it is essentially considered the shipping version.  Other people have to pay to upgrade their machines and it's no different in your case.  If, after making the purchase, you had other machines to upgrade, you could do that for free.
