Look... I don't have my crystal ball handy. I don't know how or if you had your backup set up. You don't adequately describe what you're missing. Stating that "All I am left with is the content I had before I upgraded to iOS" doesn't tell me anything at all... When did you upgrade? Apparently, you had a backup from that time, and when you restored, you restored from that backup. If you had no other backups in between then and now, then anything since that time is gone. Permanently.

I have updated my iPad and lost everything because my only option on iTunes was to update and restore. The update was very strange because I pressed install, I had enough space for the update and I agreed to the terms and conditions. My iPad turned to a black page with a picture of connecting to iTunes, I couldn't get it off my screen even when I plugged it into iTunes. to update and restore my iPad was my only option and if I plugged my iPad out my screen would still say plug into iTunes. You should be able to see all your Purchased Music in your iTunes Account and you can download that Music to your iPhone during a Sync. First step look under Purchases in iTunes.

You should be storing everything on your computer and you should always backup your computer. Have you failed to do these things?
If so, not good, then you can redownload some iTunes purchases in some countries. Open iTunes store, click Purchased under Quick links -

Photo album pics should still be on your computer, as that's where they came from in the first place.
Camera Roll pics (taken with iphone) should be imported to you computer on a regular basis (particularly before a restore) so they should be on your computer as well.
If you have failed to do this, you should be able to restore from back up, as camera roll photos are part of the automatic itunes backup:

I have restored my IPHONE and the problem still continues. No photo is save in camera roll since the new IOS6!
The built in camera app. But all the apps do not allow me to save any photos as well.

after there being an error in trying to update the software it said i have to restore my phone which i have done but says time remaining is about 24 hours . can you please help ? i just want to switch my phone on again .

From what I can gather, it sounds like you're having issues restoring your device. After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help in this situation. It contains helpful advice concerning recovery mode:
If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Use recovery mode
You might need to use recovery mode to restore your device in these cases:
iTunes doesn't recognize your device or says it's in recovery mode.
You see the Apple logo onscreen for several minutes with no progress bar.
You see the Connect to iTunes screen.
Learn what to do if you see the progress bar onscreen for several minutes.
To put your device into recovery mode, follow these steps:
Turn off your device and leave it off.
Plug in your device's USB cable to a computer with iTunes.
Hold down the Home button on your device as you connect the USB cable. Keep holding down the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
When you see this screen, release the Home button. If you don't see this screen, try steps 1 through 3 again.
When your device is connected, iTunes will open. You'll see a message saying that iTunes has detected an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch in recovery mode.
Use iTunes to restore your device. Restoring in recovery mode will erase your device. If you previously synced with iTunes or iCloud, you might be able to restore from your backup.

Learn what to do if you don't see your device in iTunes for OS X, or in iTunes for Windows.
If you put your device into recovery mode by mistake, restart it. Or you can wait 15 minutes and your device will exit recovery mode by itself.

it's all good, no need to apologize for your english. Now what you want to do is go to settings> General> make sure 3G is on, then go back to settings> turn airplane mode on for 2-3 seconds and turn it off again. This should make the 3G symbol show up. However, if that does not work; then just reset your iPhone by holding the top button and the home button until it turns off but keep holding it until the apple logo shows up then release the button. Hopes it helps

The only consoltation id if he used iCloud to synch, his contacts might still be "on the cloud". -

Yes, I have the exact same problem with my 4s! Updated to iOS 7 and can't sync. It's extremely frustrating, as music is crucial in my daily life. I was able to remove all songs from my iPhone...and now when I try to sync the 4,000 or so I've selected, it will sync maybe 11 or 12 (if it gets past the "Waiting for changes to be applied" screen), and then just completely stop. I need help, I couldnt get into my iphone because I forgot the password and I couldnt hook my iphone up to the computer with all my music on it. So im wondering how to redownload that music from another computer that had already had someone elses account programed into it. I can almost get my purchased music but it says im not authorized. If your music was purcansed from the iTunes Store and your country allow is you can redownload it
Login to itunes as yourself on this computer then

Store > Authorise this Computer...
Type in your Apple ID and password and authorise. -

If you backup now nothing will be erased from your iPhone, however, the backup will only contain what is currently on your iPhone.
If you mean "do a restore now" then the content of your iPhone will be reset to exactly what is in the backup. Anything on your iPhone now but not in the backup that you restore to will be gone. -
