I have scratches on my iPad.

Okay, so I have a screen protector on my iPad and I had it for about 3 and a half months but if I look carefully, I can see a huge scratch on my iPad, why is that?
Reminder: I'm also using a smart case and I have never drop my iPad, not once.

Since you have a screen protector, it's most likely a scratch on the protector, not your iPad screen.  I've had my iPad nearly two years now, without a screen protector and there are no scratches on my screen. With the Oleophobic coating on the glass, it's VERY difficult to scratch.

The iPad was sealed in the box when I got it. It had the plastic screen protector wrapped all around it and when I powered it on for the first time it displayed the "connect to iTunes for setup" message displayed. The only other thing I can think of is if the person I bought it from had ordered it through Verizon on and the iPad was set up on a number on his pre-existing verizon account. My question is should I just keep using it and consider myself lucky? Since there is no way for Verizon to charge me for the usage because I never signed a contract. I realize that if it is on the account belonging to the person I bought it from, they will eventually figure this out and shut it off. But I might as well use it in the meantime right?

My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now.  About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!

  • Scratched screen on iPad

I have had an iPad 2 for about 18 weeks, and during those 4 and a half months the screen on it has cracked 4 times. So total I have only had my iPad, with me, for about a month. I use it for school so that hasn't helped me a lot. The first three times it occurred in the same spot (Upper right hand side, next to the volume control and the mute/lock rotation switch). It wasn't a crack but more of a under the screen scratch.
I had to pay $20.00 for the first repair. After I received the iPad back, it cracked with in 2 days. So I had to pay $50.00 for the second repair. After about 3 weeks of waiting I received it back again, and this time, within 2 hours of handling it, it cracked while I was putting on my case (and the cracked occurred in the same exact spot again, all 3 times). So I told them what happened and the reduced my price to $50.00 again instead of paying full price for it which would be $400.00. So far I have paid $120.00 in repairs, and quite frankly I can't afford to pay anymore as high school student.
I got my iPad back sometime last week, and when I received it back it was broken in the bottom left corner. It had this wrap around it that said "Do Not Remove". Within a week there was another crack on the iPad, but this time it was connected to the bottom left corner where the iPad was previously broken. It would cost $400.00 for this repair. I can not afford to pay $520.00 in repairs. I had a OutterBox on my iPad all 4 times.
So my question is there anyway I can get a reduced price on my repair? Like I said I've had the OutterBox on it all 4 times. Doesn't their company repair it for free it it's breaks while using their products? I need help. Thank you.

we can't speak on behalf of either company.  You need to ask them directly as each occurence is on a case by case basis.

  • I have just got an iPad and I want the music to be transferred through my iPod touch using iCloud but I didn't get the music from iTunes so I don't think it will let me do it. Do you have any tips that could help me?

Only photos taken with the iPad, copied onto it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites etc can be deleted directly on the iPad - either via the trashcan icon in the top right corner if viewing the photo in full screen, or via the icon of the box with the arrow coming out of it in thumbnail view.
Photos that were synced from a computer are deleted by moving/removing/de-selecting them from where they were synced from and then re-syncing. If you want to remove them all then normally you could just sync an empty folder (in terms of photos) to the iPad, but as you don't want to sync at the moment you can't do that.
You can reset the iPad back to factory settings and start from scratch with it : Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content And Settings

  • Scratches on my iPad Air?

I have these scratches on my IPad air that I think I got from using a Adonit Jot pro stylus. It freaks me out so bad because I've never had scratches on anything else, and I have a android tablet with no scratches, android smartphone with no scratches and an iPod touch 5th generation which I've had for 2 year with no scratches. You can't see them if you look directly but if you turn it (when the screen has been cleaned) you can clearly see them they don't indent the screen but I can see them and I'm worried that if I ever drop it that it would shatter because of them, I hope it isn't anything serious because I don't have the money to replace the screen and I absolutely HATE screen protectors and only if he's absolutely mandatory that I would EVER Get a screen protector..so what are your thoughts guys?

You hate screen protectors and can't abide by scratches. If the Adonit Jot scratched the screen of your iPad, it's hard to figure what would remedy the issue - except a screen protector, which you hate. You've backed yourself into a corner on that one.
I only see a few options (which you have do doubt considered):
    1. Get a new iPad screen - about $100+, before installation; install isn't easy
    2. Get a new iPad - you know the price on these
    3. Get a screen protector - and here's my question: Why are you so absolutely opposed to getting a screen protector? Are you aware that, with a good installation, a screen protector is completely invisible?
    4. Deal wtih it - a scratched screen won't crack or shatter any differently than a new one. This is the cheapest solution.
Also, be sure to sell the Adonit Jot on eBay. It's unmatched for fineness of line, but I'd only get one if it came with a screen protector.
Post with your thoughts. I'm sure you aren't the first to ask.

If you just bought it, contact the retailer.  If it is due to normal wear-and-tear, you'll have to get used to it.

  • I have scratch marks from the smart cover(polyurethane)

I got this APPLE iPad2 early Febuary 2012 & now it's April. I took the smart cover off only twice. When I took it off today a piece of metal came off. Also the smart cover left a 2 marks on the side of the ipad & there's a dent on the magnetic strip on the smart cover. I do not have protection for this ipad. With the one year limited warranty does anyone know if APPLE could replace this or am I out of luck? I do not like how it looks seriously.

I, i think I had the same problem as you ... I had a big scratch on the bottom of my iPad .. So I called apple and they set me an appointment at the apple store... At the apple store They did persist but they finally changed my iPad and my smart cover for new one ... I hope it helped you ...

  • I have Pages for the iPad and desktop, how can I save it besides the iCloud on my computer and not the iPad?

I have purchased Pages for my desktop iMac and Macbook Air.  I also have it on my iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch.  They are all synced through the icloud, but the space is now starting to fill up.  (I am the guy asking trivia questions and it fills up with A LOT of questions).  BUT, after each week, I can get rid of 3 documents (16 questions per document).  So, I have roughly 80 games worth of trivia and half of which I would like to save on my computer.  I can pull it up on my computer and it shows that I have that from the icloud, but not on the desktop.  I have lots of space on my desktop to save these, but the iPad is not as large for space.
How can I transfer roughly 40 documents (from pages) from the icloud to the desktop, (for permanent storage)?  do I have to do each one individually, or is there a select documents you want to move?  Then I can delete from ipad as it seems to take up space on both the ipad and the icloud.
    Thank you in advance.

Just ignore that post above. I tried to edit it but was too late. Deleting a document from iPad does delete it from iCloud.
Ignore the line 'There is no data limit on iCloud.com so you could keep all your documents on there' because of course then they will sync to your devices and that's not what you want.
    Sorry, for the confusion.

You can also move documents to your computer by opening Pages, select iCloud and all the documents you want to move, and drag them onto your desktop (or folder).

If it's an Intel Mac, you can upgrade it to Mac OS X 10.6.8.
If it's a PowerPC Mac, you need to use these instructions and/or iTunes Match to put content on the iPad.

I have iTunes on my iPad. I have a new iPod nano. How do I connect iPod to iPad to download iTunes and music library?

    Hi Divine Inspiration,
You wouldn't connect the iPod to the iPad for data transfers. Music is stored and shared either through a computer or iCloud.

I have a first generation IPad and it won't let me download unless I update to the new ios system.  When I go to do that it won't let me do that either. What advise can you offer?  Thanks

Maybe a little more info would be helpful. How are you trying to update the iPad? What model iPad it is and what version of the iOS is on it now?

  • I have a 3rd generation iPad running iOS7.0.2, and since updating to iOS7, it will not mirror to an AppleTV.  The devices will connect, but the video monitors show only a blank screen.  The AppleTV's work fine with various other iOS & OSX devices. Ideas?

I have three AppleTV's where I work.  I have two at home.  I have an iPhone 4S running iOS7.0.2 which mirrors smoothly via AirPlay.  I have a 2011 MacBook Pro and a 2011 iMac, both running Mountain Lion, both of which mirror smoothly through AirPlay.  I have a 3rd generation iPad running iOS7.0.2, and since updating to iOS7, it will not mirror.  The iPad will connect to the AppleTV, but the TV's and projectors only show a black screen when connected: the iPad screen looks as it should, except that the transitions become jumpy when connected via AirPlay.  This is true on both networks: at home and at work.  Another gentleman using the network where I work has the most recent iPad, also running iOS7.0.2, and he is having the same problem.  I have tried to "Reset All Settings."  I have tried to "Restore."  Does anyone have any suggestions?  Has anyone else experience difficulty mirroring the iPad through AirPlay since the release of iOS7.0.2?

No problems exists with the router (on either network described above) or the multiple AppleTV's which are able to mirror multiple other OSX & iOS devices seamlessly. The problem is strictly with the iPad and iOS7.

This is an iOS 7 AirPlay mirroring bug...
To make matters worse, the iPad automatically drops its mirroring session 45 seconds after it auto-locks.
3-4 mirroring sessions is all it takes for the iPad mirroring to freeze up.
After this happens, mirroring to an Apple TV only projects a blank screen.
Once the mirroring is hung, the only way to fix it is to restart the iPad.
Apple please fix this iOS 7 issue!
