I have several calendars including Outlook and Google. I cannot seem to get outlook to sync to the cloud from my Iphone 3 g whoi can help me? I actually want to take the calendars and outlook contacts across to my PC, which has a new hard drive.

how do I take my outlook calendar phone no etc and transfer them to outlook on my PC? My hard drive crashed and I am rebuilding. Also, I cannot seem to get my outlook calendar from my phone to the icloud although my google works fine. Thanks

Apologies for not replying back sooner - I've been away.
Although your suggestion helped me in getting a copy of Lion that I could use, it didn't help with the restore from Time Capsule issue. I had to download the Lion app onto my MacBook & then transfer it across but it wouldn't let me upgrade my OS for some reason, so I ended up wiping the iMac completely and restoring via my Snow Leopard install disk. For some reason, this time, it let me have the option of using Setup Assistant to access the Time Capsule for a complete restore.
Now, over a week later, with various bits of tweaking and reinstalling some apps that didn't seem to come across, I have my system back.

Just installed a new hard drive, I'm trying to reinstall Lion from internet recovery. The issue I'm having is when I try to install the OS it gives me an error message. According to the log, this is because it can't find the Mountain Lion install file from the app store. How do I reinstall OSX lion without any discs? I have a bunch of blank cd-rs and dvd-rs, as well as an external hd at my disposal...

Internet Recovery is only an option on more recent systems: Those that shipped with Lion, and a few that shipped shortly before Lion (so, mid 2010 or newer Macs):

There are ways to burn the Mac App Store installer to flash media or optical media, Google for "create OS X Lion DVD."

What is the best order to upgrade to Lion after putting in a brand new hard drive in my MacBook Pro? Restore first? or install Lion First?

I have a 2008 macbook pro with brand new 500GB hard drive and 6GB new RAM. My old hard drive is backed up on external drive, via time machine. When the shop put in the new hard drive (there was nothing wrong with old one, it was just stuffed to the brim), they loaded snow leopard from a disk, but I haven't put anything from the old drive back on yet....I haven't even configured my mail and am just reading mail from ipad and phone these days.
Question: Should I install Lion before I restore all the old backed-up stuff, or is it important to have anything, ( like maybe preferences) already on the computer when I download Lion. I want to be selective when restoring from time machine, because my old hard drive had a lot of ancient software and junk on it that had migrated from every computer we've ever owned, and that is many, many.
So, I'm just stuck on the best way to proceed. Also, should I install the latest update for 10.6.8 before I download Lion? I see today that some new updates have become available; java, security, safari, and apple software installer.

Are you recommending to do the back up BEFORE I install Lion, so that there are some preferences and information about old passwords and certain information that Lion will want to know about? Will it make my life easier to back up BEFORE I install Lion?
What changed my mind was your second post. You don't want to carry over everything to the new drive and the install of Lion. You only want selective things and of course your personal files.
For that I "feel" it best to install SL, Update SL to the most current version, Then selectively restore the parts you want and then install Lion on top of that newest install of SL with the selectively restored parts on the new Hard drive.
That should give you as clean an upgrade as you can get.
Of course you could go a completely different route. Make the Lion install USB, Save all your program Install files you want to be installed in Lion along with your personal files. Then Wipe the drive and install Lion clean. Then RE-Install your programs and copy over your personal files.
That is what I would do as I do not like upgrading to a new OS over the top of an older one. I have never found that to be as clean and it always seems to carry over stuff from the older OS to the new one. But that is me.

Your purchased music is availble for download again at no cost. If you have iTunes match service, you can download your matched music.

I have an Imac. On startup I get the blue screen. An apple Tech told me I need a new hard drive? Is he right?

My Imac has the dreaded blue screen on start up. To avoid this, I unplug the machine each night which solves the problem. I have contacted an Apple service rep who says I need to replace the hard drive. Nothing I have read indicates this. I have not added new hardware, not changed anything. You could try a few things (if you haven't already) before giving up on the HD. You could try a Safe Boot:
Restart holding down the shift key until you see the grey progress bar. When the Mac has finished booting, restart as normal from the Apple menu.
Boot from your install disk and verify/repair the disk using Disk Utility (let us know if you're unsure how to do this).
Try an SMC reset and a PRAM reset:
SMC Reset
Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and disconnect attached devices.
Wait fifteen seconds.
Attach the computer's power cord.
Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.
Reset PRAM
Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P and R.
You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.
Try these things one at a time, and test the machine after each step.

I pasted my entire music folder, including itunes and itunes media into my skydrive foler which has now backed them all up in the cloud. Now when I open my itunes client, it can't see my music. What do I do now?

I've recently bought a new computer with windows 8.1 and copied all my files across from my old PC, including all my music. I signed up for Skydrive (now Onedrive) and in order to back up my music, I cut and pasted my entire music folder into the Skydrive folder of my PC. All the music has now backed up to the cloud and I've made it available online and offline. Problem is, when I came to open itunes, it couldn't find my music. I've changed the location of my music folder by going to advanced preferences and specifying the itunes media folder in my skydrive folder and still no sign of my music in itunes. I'm in a mess. Yes, provided all the media is inside the iTunes Media folder, which is in turn inside the main iTunes folder (which is the standard arrangement) you should be able to move the iTunes folder from <User's Music> to any other path and shift-start-Tunes (option-start-iTunes on a Mac) to reconnect to it.
If the media folder has split out to another drive in the past, or media is stored outside of the iTunes Media folder, then things get a bit more complicated. I can go into details should it be necessary.

This indicates that there is a problem in the iPhoto database - a possible solution to try is Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - rebuild your iPhoto library

Not sure what you purchased as a "family pack", but Lion does not have that option available. However, if you purchase it from the app store, then the license authorizes you to download it as often as needed on any computer YOU own and control. Since it is tied to your Apple ID (the ID used to purchase it), no one else can download it. Even if you gave other family members your Apple ID to use, it would be violating the licensing requirements and be considered software piracy.
If you installed a new hard drive on your computer or another computer you own, it should be available. Since this is a new blank hard drive, you may need to reinstall the original system (Snow Leopard?) and then go back to the app store as you need to have SL installed to download Lion. If you made a bootable clone of the old drive, you could simply clone that back.

I have a new hard drive, can I pull my contacts and ical from my iphone?

I have a new hard drive and I would like to pull my ical and contacts from my iphone to replace what I lost but when I sync my phone it doesn't bring the data onto my computer and if I choose sync calendar and contacts it seems to want to erase the phone and replace with the blank computer data.
