I have several gmail ids that I deleted with gmail. How do I stop Firefox from showing them when I go to log into surviving gmail ids?

I have 5 or 6 Gmail account IDs. Several have been deleted via Gmail so no longer exist. However, every time I want to log into one of my remaining Gmail IDs, Firefox shows a list of every Gmail ID I've had in the past. How do I delete the ones I no longer use??
Related question: How do I export my bookmarks so that I can completely eliminate Firefox and start fresh with a new Firefox that hopefully doesn't remember all my Gmail IDs???

On the logins, you can try clearing the obsolete ones here:
orange Firefox button > Options > Security > "Saved Passwords"
''or''
Tools menu > Options > Security > "Saved Passwords"
On bookmarks, there are several methods to import. You can export to an HTML file and store that outside of the Mozilla folders (e.g., in your Documents folder) or you can copy the bookmark backups folder.
Before making changes, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Then, see:
[https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Exporting%20bookmarks%20to%20an%20HTML%20file Exporting bookmarks to an HTML file | How to | Firefox Help]
[https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Lost%20Bookmarks#w_restoring-bookmark-backups Lost Bookmarks - Restoring Bookmark Backups]
Finally, rather than uninstall/reinstall, you could create a new Firefox profile. It will look as though you just installed Firefox, and then you can copy important settings to the new profile at your leisure.
To create a new (blank) profile: [https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles Managing profiles]
To move key settings to the new profile: [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Recovering+important+data+from+an+old+profile Recovering important data from an old profile].
Hope this helps.

  • How do I stop Firefox from suggesting usernames when I am logging into Gmail?

How do I turn off the suggestions for usernames and other fields? When I log into an email account or enter information into a form, Firefox will suggest information based on what I've entered in the past. How do I turn this off?

Note if you do not wish to turn this feature off but only remove outdated or incorrect suggestions: then when you see the dropdown list, highlight the item, and use the keyboard delete key.

  • How do I stop Firefox from showing that little box at the bottom of every page every time I go from item to item on the screen. It is annoying and reminds me of Bing and all of those other interfering and annoying so called help features.

No matter what site I am on Firefox wants to provide me information about the page or features. I do not want that. I just want to be able to look and move on. Although it is a little thing, I find it annoying and very controlling. I realize that there is no sense of privacy on the internet, but at least let me have that illusion. Furthermore, I hate things popping up while I am reading something. Let me make that choice, I do not need you to make that choice for me. Thanks.

The easiest way is to use the Status-4-Evar add-on. With it you can choose to not display any of the status messages, or display them in the add-ons bar or location bar instead.

  • I have asked this once now I ask again. How do I stop Firefox from being my home page? I have my homepage set but Firefox starts first with my home page and I cant stop it. If I cant stop it then I will just have to uninstall.

When I start Firefox my home page does not start first, it is set as my home page but Firefox starts first. This is since upgrading to the newest version,

It's not a good idea to allow websites to redirect to another site until you know for sure the original site is trustworthy.
But if you still want to do it (again not a good idea).
Tools>Options>Advanced>General - In Accessibility, uncheck "warn me when web sites try to redirect..." option.

  • How do I stop Firefox from thinking it crashed and doing a recovery when forced to use Windows Task manager to close a bad URL that I never want to go back to?

Long question, I know :~) There are web sites that I may visit that will not allow me to exit the site, so I use Alt-Ctrl-Del in Windows to start the Task Manager and force the site to close by ending the program. The new version of Firefox (31.0) thinks that Firefox crashed and send me right back to the source of my problem.
Your documentation for this process is as follows:
    After a crash
Due to unexpected issues such as problems with a website, software errors, or an accidental loss of power, Firefox may unexpectedly close. In these situations, Firefox can restore the pages that you were visiting when it is restarted. Firefox will automatically restore your previous session, the first time you launch it after a crash.
If Firefox crashes a second time, the Restore Session (i.e. "Well, this is embarrassing") page will appear when you next launch Firefox.
...and this is what I found trying to stop this process. Next, when I am forced to use Task Manager to close Firefox a second time to stop a badware site, then the 'Well this is embarrassing' dialog appears and I am finally safely away from the URL.
I do not want Firefox automatically sending me back to a problem site.
Thank you for any procedure you can suggest to stop Firefox from restoring problem web pages, Art Clapton

I am unwilling to attempt navigation away from these sites. The pop-ups that occur on the attempt to leave a site or to close the browser are exit traps offering incentive to stay.
Once upon a time, when the internet was less dangerous, I would be willing to close the exit pop-ups. Now, after twice being infected with malware trying to close the pop-ups, I now force close whichever browser I am using.
Recently, I clicked on the red X to close one pop-up, and it installed a trojan that I had to pay to be removed. When I clicked on 'Leave' in another exit pop, it didn't exit and it turned out I was giving permission to run a script file. Now that criminals have learned these exit pop-ups can be used to force a click action, the sites using them have become dangerous.
If I force the browser to close using Task manager, Please tell me how to stop FireFox from sending me directly back to the same site because it mistakenly believes it crashed when it did not. I forced it to close because I was on a site that had taken control of my browser and was not allowing me to leave the site.
No other browser sends me back to the potentially dangerous sites. I prefer Firefox, but the new version must have a setting that allows me to get safely away from a problem site?

  • How can I stop Firefox from deleting my cache?

Whenever I close a tab, after a while, Firefox deletes the cache of that tab. How can I stop it from doing this?

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
You can open the <b>about:config</b> page via the location bar and do a search for <i>jzip</i> via the Filter at the top of the about:config page.<br />
You can reset all <i>jzip</i> related prefs that appear bold (user set) via the right-click context menu to their default values.

  • How can I stop Firefox from blocking sites that do not supply ownership information?

I am trying to access a website and I get a 400 Bad Request message. Further "research" leads to the "This website does not supply ownership information" message. I have cleared history and cookies, reloaded the page and followed all the answers given in relevant support pages but nothing works. All other browsers allow me to see the page, but I do not want to keep switching to chrome or IE. There must be a security setting somewhere that must be switched off. I find it extremely annoying to be saddled with settings I have not asked for, have no information on have no way to control. This is what Microsoft does and why I use Mozilla.

It would help if you could provide the address for an example of such a site so others may check it. Give as an example something publicly accessible and not needing registration.
    Is any other software interfering?

Have you tried clearing site cookies, reloading using Ctrl+F5 and maybe clearing the Firefox cache.
If you have problems with only one site and only in Firefox, the problem is often outdated or corrupt files relating to that web page. I suggest you try the following.

#Clear the cache, and cookies only from problem websites.
##<u>Remove the cookies </u>for a single problem website <br />Use: FirefoxButton / Tools → Options → |Privacy| → "Remove individual cookies"<br /> See: [[Delete cookies to remove the information websites have stored on your computer#w_delete-cookies-for-a-single-site]]'''_delete-cookies-for-a-single-site'''

  • How do i stop iChat from showing that i'm idle?

I don't want iChat to show others that i'm "Idle for 10 mins, 17 mins, 1hr10 mins" etc - I just want it to keep showing Available when I'm not actually working on the computer. - I don't particularly like others to see that I'm idle anyway, so how can i make this auto-idle function stop?

    Hi,
Also in the General Section of the Preferences tick the box that reads:-
"When iChat is Quit, Set my Status to Off Line."
If this is not set then iChat will leave sort of Partial Login so that you can get Off Line IMs (which will start iChat up if the computer is On)
If you have iChat allowing Off-Line IMs these will still be saved at the Server until you Log in again.
Off Line IMs can be stopped if you reply to the AIMSysMessage Buddy text with a "no"
They can only be reinstated by changing the setting here https://settings.aim.com/
You need to Login first and this can be also done with an @mac.com or @me.com name

Please, if posting Logs, do not post any Log info after the line "Binary Images for iChat"

  • How can I stop Foxfire from automatically loading when I turn on my computer that runs on Windows Vista?

Foxfire automatically loads when I boot up my computer after all the other essential programs boot up. I'd like to know how to disable the start-up menu link that allows the program to load up when the computer first starts up because the Foxfire browser isn't needed when I first start the computer. Besides, when I first start my computer, it's inevitably not hooked to the internet and it's just a bit annoying to see foxfire load when it's not needed. Furthermore, it takes up precious memory in the RAM when it's running, thus slowing down my machine. Please, someone show me how to keep this program from booting when I start up my computer. By the way, my system is Windows Vista and Foxfire does not show up in the start-up folder. Only by going to the default program page and clicking on Foxfire does it show that Foxfire has a hidden default that makes it start when the computer starts. All I'm looking for is to not see it when I boot my computer.

Thanks for pointing me to the link about the startup programs changes. I found the solution there. Foxfire was hiding in the hidden startup menu. Once I found it using msconfig, I was able to stop it from loading when I started my computer. Again, thanks for the help.

  • How can I stop firefox from auto saving user ids for various websites? I do not want them to be remembered for security reseasons

I do not wish to start typing my user id for a website and it automatically coming up as a choice since it has been remembered from a previous attempt. How can I delete firefox from remembering it so I just always type it myself?

  • How can I stop Firefox from telling me "Plugins not up to date"? I have all latest plugins that run under PPC 10.4 and Firefox 3.6.28

Problem: a yellow message saying "Plugins are not up to date" (translated from German) keeps coming up filling the very first line of every webpage. This is ok for every page, but in GMX (my email online account provider) they load advertisings at the bottom of the page (allthough I have the Firefox Add-Blocker installed and activated) and everytime the advertising is loaded new, the yellow message come again. That disturbs me writing an email, because the letters stop appearing on the page and I have to wait.
I have a PowerPC Mac with Mac OS X 10.4 and Firefox 3.6.28 which is the last German version as far as I know. I alsso have all plugins at the latest version. So the plugin-message isn't helpful at all, because I jsut can't update.

Go to '''Tools->Options->Advanced->Update''' and uncheck the box that says '''Firefox''' and click OK

    Hi,
Troubleshooting a start up script can be difficult. There are some third party programs that also keep logs of start up programs, however for Firefox this may be different.
Is Firefox a startup program? [http://www.winxptutor.com/msinfo32.htm]
Its also possible to check the Web developer tools for any scripts in a page: [https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Tools/Debugger]
In the control panel there is also Administrative tools to view event logs, but this may be something a local technician can walk you through.

    Hi Marcos140,
I would like to help, but is very hard to diagnose with so little information...
Do you know why you needed the bridge in the first place?
Is your laptop connecting via wireless or a wired connection?
    Please try this:
    #Click start
    #Type cmd
    # Push Enter
    #A black box will open
    # type in "ipconfig /all"
    # Screenshot the output
    # type "ping google.com"

If you can post the output of those commands it will help.
    Thanks,
