I have several iPhones - on the last update I update a 3G and it now thinks that it's my iPad

One of my iPhones thinks its my iPad

Sounds like you might have done a restore from an ipad backup during the update process or maybe you synced the iphone to the ipad's library.
You will have to restore the iphone from its own backup, if available. Or you'll have to restore as new and sync content back to it.
