I have several pgs to my Numbers spreadsheet. The first sheet to the spreadsheet is Safety & Ed 1, page 1, the second Safety & Ed 1 doesn't show a page, then the third won't let me change the name from Safety & Ed 3 to Safety & Ed 1. What am I doing wrong?
Also I wanted the date to format 00/00/00. I set up a Custom Date Format using that layout, but I had to actually enter the date 00/00/00. If I just entered the date using just the numbers it wouldn't put in the /. What am I doing wrong?

In a Numbers document there can be several Sheets (each Sheet is a "canvas" drawing area) and each Sheet can hold objects such as several Tables, Charts (graphs), Text Boxes and Shapes.
Each Sheet has its own Page Header and Page Footer where you can insert text such as Safety & Ed 1 and automatic page numbers. The page numbers will update with each page of paper from the printer.
If your document contains several Sheets, you can print them all, or one at a time.
Menu > File Print... (to see Print Preview)
The left field of the Footer is selected and ready to type a descriptive sheet name. The centre field of the Footer has "Page " (entered by me) before the automatic page number.

Album Shuffle Doesn't Work Properly When Albums Have The Same Name

I'm using the latest versions of iTunes 7.0.2 and 5.5G iPod v1.2.1, but this problem has existed in (as far as I know) all iPods to date. It certainly still continues to occur on the latest iPod.
Example of the problem: I have many Albums by different Artists. I listen to them on my iPod by using "Album Shuffle" which plays the contents of an album in sequential order, but successive albums in random order. This is good when it works. However, iTunes and iPod have a problem when more than 1 album has the same name. So, let's say you have 3 albums by 3 different groups (Band A, B, and C), all called "Greatest Hits". The expected behaviour is that "Greatest Hits by Band A will play tracks 1-10, then another random album, and then sometime later, the album "Greatest Hits" by Band C will play tracks 1-15. That would be good, but this does not happen. Here's what actually happens:
Some Album / Band X / Track 14
Some Album / Band X / Track 15
Some Album / Band X / Track 16
Greatest Hits / Band A / Track 1
Greatest Hits / Band B / Track 1
Greatest Hits / Band C / Track 1
Greatest Hits / Band B / Track 2
Greatest Hits / Band A / Track 2
Greatest Hits / Band C / Track 2
Greatest Hits / Band B / Track 3
Greatest Hits / Band C / Track 3
Greatest Hits / Band A / Track 3
... (until all "Greatest Hits" tracks by Bands A, B, and C have finished)

As you can see, the iPod treats all 3 "Greatest Hits" as one humungous album. Now, until version 7, even iTunes appeared to be pretty confused about this, but with the latest version added the "Album Artist" tag (which I've applied correctly to all tracks in my Library), so that it can identify albums as separate entities properly, even if they have the same name. (This was necessary for Cover Flow to work.) Sadly, this logic has not made it to the iPod, and we still have the crazy playback situation above.
Since the first day I bought my first iPod back in 2002, I've always used Album Shuffle, and this has always been a problem. I was surprised to find that even the latest iPod still hasn't fixed this, even though iTunes seems to have. Apple, please could you fix this?

There is no key because that is an important dialog. Why would you want it to go away?

How to import images that have the same name as images already imported

I am trying to import images into LR3. I have a number of images with duplicate names. Some of them are duplicate images that I simply have stored in different directories and some are images that are not duplicates but have the same name. LR3 refuses to import any images that has the name of an image that has already been imported. Is there anything I can do about this. If not, it kind of makes the softwares useless to me.

Thanks. I'm sure making sure all file names are discrete makes sense. I guess I need to find some kind of bulk re-name utility.
Additionally, I am dealing with a very large set of unorganized images and one of the uses I would like to put LR3 to is to organize the images into directories and get rid of duplicates while inspecting them to make sure that I don't trash differing images with the same names. One of the challenges is identifying these images so I can re-name them.
I have been working with Apple's Aperture, which doesn't rely simply on the name to identify images since it uses a more complicated algorithm to differentiate images from each other. It is one thing I really like about Aperture. What I like about LR3 is that it lets me use actually file directories to store images rather than moving them into its own file system like Aperture does. I don't like having files locked into a system that is software dependent.
Also, I finally found the checkbox that tells LR to import "duplicates." I couldn't find it before. I don't find LR3 as intuitive as I'd like. I've always had to spend more time figuring out how Adobe software does things than I would like. I've had little luck with Adobe's support site, aside from this forum.

Have many image maps on a page, and they all have the same name. When i change one, they all change, When I add a new one, w a new name, all the rest change.

We have three Apple devices. They are all have the same name and are on the same apple ID. We would like to back up our Notes to the cloud. If we each create our own Apple email address will they create two separate Notes flies on the cloud or merge?

Separate Apple ID's will result in separate notes. However when you first start with separate ID's unless one of you erases the notes you have, you will both start off with the same set of notes, but from then onwards each set won't sync with each other.

Iphoto seems to be deleting old (several years old) images that hav the same name as new images being loaded. how can i fix this?

I was browsing some old photos in iPhoto11 and started getting 'image not found' errors. After much investigation, rebuilding thumbnails and extracting photos using fatface iphoto library manager it seems that newer photos with the same name as very old photos (Canon camera naming scheme IMG_nnnn.jpg) have caused the old photos to be deleted? I thought iphoto handled this situation but it seems not.
I never got any error or warning messages on importing the newer photos. Naturally the old ones have been in there for years and were originally imported using older versions of iphoto.
As it happens I do have all these old photos stored elsewhere so its not a case of panicking but I could do with a solution going forwards.
Has anyone else encountered this (and of course if so how did you resolve it?)

Every new import to iPhoto goes into a new folder on the HD, so no, iPhoto doesn't overwrite older images with the same filename.
Are you running a Managed or a Referenced Library?
A Managed Library, is the default setting, and iPhoto copies files into the iPhoto Library when Importing. The files are then stored in the Library package
A Referenced Library is when iPhoto is NOT copying the files into the iPhoto Library when importing because you made a change at iPhoto -> Preferences -> Advanced. (You unchecked the option to copy files into the Library on import) The files are then stored where ever you put them and not in the Library package. In this scenario you are responsible for the File Management.

Automation plugin: how to select a spot channel when 2 channels have the same name?

I have a CMYK document opened in photoshop. In "CHANNELS" panel, I just added 2 spot colors with the same name "Sport Color 1".
As I click any of the spot channel to select it, the "Listener" plugin will output some c++ code like below:

You can see "PutName" add the channel name "Spot Color 1" to reference, and I think it will not work correctly if I add such code to my project since PS cannot differentiate the 2 channels only by name. Can anyone tell me if there's any other method for selecting spot channel? Thanks in advance.

Puts an index into a reference (formIndex) along with the desired class for the reference.
Unfortunately I dont have C++ here to try i just used definition from docs.

Can 2 different podcasts have the same name?

My friends and I have recently created a podcast and posted it to Itunes

Is it possible for both podcasts to exist? Will one of us have to change our name? Can they force us to change our name? I'm hoping neither one of us will have to do that. Any and all help in this matter will be greatly appreciated.

It could be confusion if someone is looking for your podcast and finds one of the others. Also, if one of you Get A Lifers gets famous (and I hope it is you), there will be legal action for sure.
You may want to consider adopting a more unique name. Just my opinion.

Separating albums that have the same name by the same artist?

I have two albums by the group The Small Faces and both are entitled "Small Faces." One came out in 1966 and the next in 1967. They are different albums, just on different labels which may be why they used the same name twice. Anyway, i can't figure out how to separate them in my iTunes without intentionally mis-labeling one of the albums. Even by doing "Small Faces" and "The Small Faces" the two albums just form together as one and i can't figure out how to keep them both seperate while maintaining the correct album titles.

You can't.
You could add the label to the album name.

Need help my contact are merging together if they have the same name

If I enter in a new contact with the same first name my phone automatically links to another person with the same name in my contact. This happens even if I put a different company name so I know the difference between Jeff at car dealer and Jeff landscaper. Can anyone guide me how to fix this please.

1. Objects don't have names. The only name a <tt>JButton</tt> might have is the '<tt>name</tt>' property which is set using <tt>setName(...)</tt>
2. Add an anonymous <tt>ActionListener</tt> to the <tt>JButton</tt> in the same method that you create it. In general, and unless hugely justified by the program design, avoid 'switchboard' listeners that require to identify the source of the event.

I just bought a second mac, should/can both macs have the same "name"?????

Hi, I just bought a second mac and need to know what I should do regarding the "naming" of the new one. Should the name be different.....or just the "short' name? Will the files I migrate over not open if it's not the same name as my first mac? when it comes to the new "mobileme", shouldn't my macs have different names in order for it to 'sync' properly? I'm very confused over the entire issue....

It shouldn't. After migrating files from the old computer to the new one, repair disk permissions. If you're using Mac OS X 10.5.4 or 10.5.3, you might get permission errors, but you don't need to worry about them unless you're having problems running a particular application. I consistently get a "cups" error with 10.5.3 and 10.5.4 but it doesn't affect the computer's performance. It seems to be a bug in the operating system.

How to check if two or more controls/indicators have the same name/label in LabView?

LabView does not show any rror if I name two controls with exactly the same name. It can be confusing. I am using LabView 6.1.

Some people like the fact that you can name things the same. Some even want to be able to have two VIs with the same name in memory at the same time. (Scoping rules to follow in future LabVIEWs.) You can write a small program that lists out the names of all the controls and indicators in a VI using the VI server property nodes. Oh, OK I'll give you an example. (See attached)

I forgot to eject camera before disconnecting, and somehow left five file folders on the desktop that have the same name as the device, can't open, delete,eject, or move.

Forgot to eject device(camera) before diconnect, now have five file folders on desktop(same name as camera) which cannot be opened, moved, ejected or deleted.

Where do you stand now regarding those folders? Are the photos still on the camera's memory card ( the SD card or Compact Flash)? If so, you could reconnect the camera and use your usual transfer software to perform the action once again. Do you transfer the photos straight to iPhoto? Use Image Capture? The camera's bundled software? We can start the hunt for the files by doing a Spotlight search by typing in the name of the folders (or even just the camera) to see what is already on the internal drive after the unsuccessful disconnect.

ITunes auto changed a bunch of albums to have the same name and art. Any easy fix?

So iTunes randomly changed a bunch of albums to be The Frozen Borderline by Nico with the album art (the artist names and song names are still the same though).
