When you look at your iPhone, are you looking in the Music app or in the iTunes app? Be sure you are looking in the Music app, and look in the Songs category. If your songs are not here, you may want to try syncing your information again through iTunes. To do this, uncheck "Sync Music" and then click apply or sync in the bottom right corner of iTunes, and then recheck "Sync Music" and then click apply or sync again.

I have a 2nd generation iPod shuffle. Recently, after I turn switch to OFF position, it will turn on (green light flicks on) by itself periodically and obviously battery gets drained. How can I fix this?

I don't know of a way to fix an issue with the switch, if it's a hardware issue. You can try doing a Restore on the shuffle in iTunes, to see if there's some software glitch.
However, I often leave my shuffle with the power swtich in the ON position. When you are not playing music, the shuffle goes into a "sleep" mode after about a minute. You'll notice that you need to press the Play button twice to get it to play again; the first press wakes it up. In my day-to-day experience, I don't notice any difference in battery life between the shuffle being OFF and ON (and not playing), even if I leave it ON overnight. And keeping it ON avoids needing to constantly move the tiny swtich, and saves it from wear and tear.
So, you might try just keeping the power swtich in the ON position, and pausing playback to "turn it OFF."

The wifi symbol only indicates the presence/signal strength of wifi. Not that you are connected.
Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app
    •    Tap on Wi-Fi
    •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

Verification is done via your email account.
When you create an iTunes account a verification email is sent to the primary email address that you put on the account - have you logged into that email account and checked its inbox and spam folder for a verification email ? If it's not there then try logging into the account on http://appleid.apple.com and you should be able to request a new verification email

If a phone is sold from one friend to another and wants to use it on a different carrier the friend can contact the carrier it was sold by to request it unlocked. I know AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint will give you the steps to unlock it as long as the original contract it was bought under has been completed. eBay/Craigslist is really not the best place to try to get "unlocked phones" from, if it turns out the phone isn't unlocked then I'm really sorry you got stuck with that one and as stevejobsfan said above I would report them immediately and see if you can recover your money. If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect to your computer & click on the "Update your device using iTunes".
Tip - You may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily. Then download and install the iOS update. After you update to iOS 5.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).

Try running Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. If it works correctly in that configuration, then one of your add-ons is the culprit.
The most likely candidate is Adblock Plus if you have it installed. If you do, click the arrow to the right of it and choose "Disable on this page" and then either hit F5, or click Reload to refresh the page.
