I have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 I wanted to upgrade to Lion 10.7
This started with trying to load Turbo Tax which said it couldn't load because my OS was too old. I have Snow Leopard 10.6.8. I went on line and bought Lion 10.7.8 from the Apple Store. I received the PDF file and the code to redeem the software but the instructions on where to find the download is confusing. I cannot find it. Can anyone direct me to where I can redeem my software?
I've not had occasion to do this but the process would seem to be: open the 'App Store' application in the 'Applications' folder. Under 'Quick Links' at the top of the right-hand column click 'Redeem'. Sign in and enter your code when prompted.

I have a MacBook Pro with Intel Core Duo and Snow Leopard 10.6.8. Would like to upgrade to Lion but it requires a minimum of Intel Core 2 Duo. Can I get what I need or do I have to buy new MacBok Pro?
I also have a core duo MBP with Snow Leopard and it runs perfectly. There are very few things it cannot do as compared to the faster, newer MBPs, but that is attributable to the CPU, not the OS. There are some who view Lion as downgrade rather than as an improvement. If there are important applications that reqire a fast CPU or Lion features that you find essential, by all means get a new MBP.
I have an aphorism: Obsolescence is more often a perception rather than a reality. Besides the silver keys look much classier than the black ones.

i have a Mac i5 and need to download the application 'Numbers' but everytime I try to do so, it says can't do as the ver 2.2 for the app needs new software 'Snow Leopard'. I don't want to upgrade but dont know what to do??
If your profile is correct you're already on the final version of Snow Leopard (10.6.8). Sure it wasn't Lion it was asking for?
If that's the only version available on the app store, you'll need to source a copy of the iWork '09 DVD - not cheap now - only available via Amazon or eBay etc. -

I have my iphone backed up to icloud but am having trouble then plugging it into my macbook and syncing the calendars. I need to keep my phone syncing with icloud so that my husband can access my calendar on his iphone but would like it to also sync with the calendar on my macbook. Make sense? Can I purchase Mountain Lion and make a flash drive bootable? I do not want to install it on my Macbook Pro. I have Snow Leopard on my Macbook Pro now, and due to my hard drive needing repair, I need to boot off of another source, like my flash drive. I am in Paris and my Snow Leopard DVD is in Texas.

As soon as you hear the startup tone, press and hold Command-S on the keyboard. Keep holding down those keys until you see a black screen with white lettering. This is called “booting into Single User Mode.” As the Mac boots in this mode, the screen reports each step of the process. The line should end in root#. Right after the root# prompt, enter the following: /sbin/fsck -fy
If repairing the disk in single user mode fails, it means one of two things. Either your hard drive itself is failing (a hardware failure), or the directory damage on your hard drive is beyond the capability of the built-in repair procedures in OS X. -

I have an iMAC G5 PowerPC (not Intel) running10.5.8. I sync my iphone to iTunes - but just learned I must have Snow Leopard to do so for my new iPhone 5S. Yet I can't install Snow Leopard as the G5 is not Intel. What do I do? How do I move music and pics? And keep them synced up as I purchase more?
Sorry, but that is correct. You need Snow Leopard to sync your phone and the latest version of iTunes and you old G5 cannot run that.

My iMac is connected to a Brother printer. I have Snow Leopard 10.7.3 As of yesterday, when I try to print a PDF it prints as a blank black page. Does anyone know how to correct this so that the PDF will print as I see it on screen?
If you are running Mac OS X 10.7.3 then you have Lion installed, not Snow Leopard. It's probably not important to this discussion, but something you should be aware of.
What application are you printing the PDF files from? Have you tried opening the PDF file using the Preview application that can be found in the Applications folder? Does the issue still occur? Have you tried other PDF files from a different source?
Another poster in the following discussion thread reported that this method resolved their black blank PDF issue when viewing (and presumably printing) PDF files from Safari.

There's a solution if you want to see the PDF inside Safari's window :
Go to the folder : Your Hard Drive / Library / Internet Plug-ins.
If you see a file with PDF in its name drag it to the trash.
Quit and restart Safari to test with a PDF.
If it works you can empty the trash. -

which is fine - I downloaded this dmg because it said it had Mountain Lion
The way I thought this would work is the installer would upgrade to Mountain Lion and then XCode - but I dont see anything apart from XCode

satishFirstly, you cannot get Mountain Lion as a developer for iOS. You have to become a registered OS X developer. Secondly, if you want Mountain Lion then open App Store, sign in with your Apple ID, purchase and download Mountain Lion.
XCode is not Mountain Lion and Mountain Lion was never included with XCode.
