I have suddenly started getting "A Bluetooth Serial Failure Has Occurred" message suggesting the computer failed to open an RFCOMM serial channel: what do I do? This "opens" multiple times: three or four 'tiles.' It seems like the computer is looking for something, but can't find it. I'm not sure why this would start all of a sudden, but it concerns me. What should I do or what should I look for? Are there settings that need to be changed?

After playing around for a while, I finally got my Nokia N82 to work as a modem on my MacBook Pro using scripts from http://www.taniwha.org.uk
But after 30mins online I was disconnected and now if I try to connect again I get the following dialogue:
A bluetooth serial failure has occurred.
Failed to open an RFCOMM serial channel. Check if authentication needs to be enabled in your device.
The only thing I understand about this is the authentication part. My phone is set to automatically allow all connections from my computer.
Any idea what is going on?

I'll take a shot. Who is your cell phone provider? Did you look at the modem scripts in /Library/Modem\ Scripts for Nokia one(s). There are some. Possibly generic that would work. To make this simple, since it is late, #1 here is system log of my Panther and LG phone using one of above mentioned scripts.#2 And the link is an older one about doing the same type connection and the problems with Verizon. But then I never had same error message you got. I searched on that error and it appears that rfcomm can loop and the way to fix that is to bind to more channels which I am not sure how, since the only thing to change , it appears is in bluetooth preferences. I would not touch that, yet. The problem on configs, I believe, is the property is propriotory(spelling?). Or the channel is in the phone settings. Anyway I would try a different modem script in the Library and also check out the other links in #2.

I am trying to download mountain lion on to a mac pro but the message I get is just an error has occurred. any suggestions are very welcome.

I was having this problem - I assumed it was the Apple server being overloaded, so I just kept retrying over the last couple of days. All my apps were upto date, so was Software Update. i tried logging out of the App Store, restarting and so on. No joy.
Anyway, eventually I did this, and it seems to have solved the problem.
Sign out of the App Store (in the Store menu)
Quit the App Store
In Finder - Go>Go to folder... (or Apple-shift-G)
Paste in the following "~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore"
It will take you to a folder. Delete the whole folder and empty the trash.
Launch the App Store. Sign in and then reclick the Mountain Lion buy. It won't charge you again. It then started downloading. I'm currently 5% downloaded - but I never got this far before.

This can occur if you bought the machine used and iLife was reinstalled with another AppleID.
This also can occur if the "free apps" you downloaded have paid upgraded versions and/or are now payware and you can't get updates.
All software from MAS is copy protected, it might be free as in "no charge" but it's not free in the sense you can share it with others.

Ha! Solved my own problem. Appointments bluetoothed into phone when phone is using WiFi disappear, whereas appointments bluetoothed when phone using 3G do not! Maybe everyone knows this but I would like to know why (if there is anyone out there) please .....

Me and my team member suddenly started getting following error when try to execute SSIS Package in SSDT (VS 2010)
I searched everywhere but virtually no information available about this Error. Anyone has suggestion on how to fix this error?
NOTE: Tried to execute package from command line and it works...
Error starting debugging.

According to your description, the SSIS package works fine when you execute it with command line, when you execute it in SSDT, you got the error message: Unable to start program 'DTS'.
To troubleshoot the problem, I would suggest you to upgrade SSDT to latest patch. Please refer to the following steps:
Download and install the latest Microsoft SQL Server Service Pack.
Cumulative Update package SQL Server Service Pack.
Download and install Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Feature Pack 2.

Go to the Apple website and your support profile. It should list that iMac and the serial number for it. You'll need your Apple ID and password for that Apple ID.

Open the Time Machine pane in System Preferences. If it shows that Time Machine is ON, click the padlock icon in the lower left corner, if necessary, to unlock it. Scroll to the bottom of the list of backup drives and click Add or Remove Backup Disk. Remove all the disks, then add them back. Quit System Preferences. Test.

I suddenly started getting hard disk error on my compaq laptop and some software called file recovery start running scans showing all sorts of errors and hiding all my files. Sure-glad to help you. You will not lose any data by changing synching to MacBook Pro from imac. You have set up Time Machine, right? that's how you'd do your backup, so I was told, and how I do my backup on my mac. You should be able to set a password for it. Save it. Your stuff should be saved there. So if you want to make your MacBook Pro your primary computer, I suppose, back up your stuff with Time machine, turn off Time machine on the iMac, turn it on on the new MacBook Pro, select the hard drive in your Time Capsule, enter your password, and do a backup from there. It might work, and it might take a while, but it should go. As for clogging the hard drive, I can't say. Depends how much stuff you have, and the hard drive's capacity. As for moving syncing from your iMac to your macbook pro, should be the same. Your phone uses iTunes to sync and so that data should be in the cloud. You can move your iTunes Library to your new Macbook pro
you should be able to sync your phone on your new MacBook Pro. Don't know if you can move the older backups yet-maybe try someone else, anyways,

don't forget to de-authorize your iMac if you don't want to play purchased stuff there
and re-authorize your new macBook Pro
time machine is an application, and should be found in the Applications folder. it is built in to OS X, so there is nothing else to buy. double click on it, get it going, choose the Hard drive in your Time capsule/Airport as your backup Time Machine and go for it. You should see a circle with an arrow on the top right hand of your screen (the Desktop), next to the bluetooth icon, and just after the wifi and eject key (looks sorta like a clock face). This will do automatic backups of your stuff.

Here is the screen shot, just the top half, there are another 10 pages, but I guess this should enough for you to have an idea of waht is going on, bit small I am afraid. No, I don't have any apps setup to run when I open my computer, the kernel, varies between 290 and 305 per cent ish.
Would that PRAM thing help ? I think it may be the computer itself, well something inside, as this the first time that the fan has ever started running since I have this computer, even when I have 3 or 4 apps running.
