I have taken backup of my phone ; not able to restore it back

i have taken backup of my phone ; not able to restore it back

Encrypted backup?
Read here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5162
If the backup you're trying to restore from is encrypted, you will not be able to use that backup if you can't remember the encrypted backup passcode.
If on a Mac, & you elected to save the passcode to your Keychain, you can recover the passcode from your Keychain. Otherwise, your backup data is unrecoverable.
While you can continue to sync/backup, if you can't remember it & want to remove it, you'll have to delete your existing backups, & restore your phone as a new device.
You delete your existing backups here: iTunes>Preferences>Devices.

  • Updated iOS 7.1.2 not able to restore from back up?

backed up to iTunes. Updated 7.1.2. Then said had to reset to factory, now it won't restore the backup, saying that it can't. Getting sick of these apple iOS updates that don't work. It killed the wifi on my iphone with the last update of iOS. thinking apple is slipping and should go to other non apple devices that are more reliable. Or can someone restore my faith in apple by telling me how to get the backup to work. Lost 2 months if Uni work to this and pretty frustrated with apple.

Does it say "why" the backup won't restore?

iMessages are backed up in the normal backup of your phone so it will be restored when you restore the backup.

Icloud or itunes backup, only backs up app data, not the app itself.
so if you restore as new, then there is no app data on your phone, you start out new...

  • Where is my pictures? I have a new Iphone 4s, because the old broke down. Now I am not able to restore my pictures via iCloud

Where are my photos? I have a new iPhone because the old broke down. Now I am not able to restore them from my iCloud. What can I do

you could try restoring from the backup again. It's possible that your restore got interrupted, so it would be a good idea to attempt another restore. if that doesn't fix it, like if you restore and see that all of your settings were the same as they were on the old device, but the pictures still aren't there, it's possible the photos were never stored in the backup in the first place

Have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the iPod and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound. Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and its the icon; press home again to exit the taskbar. The function that isn't on the side switch is set via the taskbar instead : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085
If that doesn't solve it then try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
