I have the ipod nano (3rd gen.), Instead of updating my songs, it resetted my ipod to factory setting but when I reconnected the ipod it said to format but it won't format because the ipod is showing that it is syncing. what do i need to do?

I went to update my songs but instead of updates, i lost everything. I didn't know that I lost everything until I unplugged and went into my ipod. It had been resetted to factory setting. Well I reconnected to try again,, it tells me to format but it won't cause the ipod shows that it is trying to sync but it's not. What should I do or is my ipod nano finally saying it's goodbye.

Can you play the song in iTunes?
If you can't the song file is probably corrupt and needs to be replaced.

Are you referring to @mac.com, @me.com or @icloud.com emails? Or some other email providers emails?
If the former, it should do that automatically. If the latter, no. iCloud does not (nor is it supposed to) sync non-Apple provided emails.

I want to reset my iMac to factory settings but want to save my iTunes library first. Is that possible?

I have an older iMac (first of the Intel Duo Core) that is running extremely slowly - the rainbow ball spins for 30 seconds between most clicks. I think it's just overloaded with too much old stuff. I have most of my files stored on Dropbox. I want to restore it to the factory settings before giving up and buying a new computer. i was able to restart my ipod several times because of this problem but it doesn't really show any update in its music playlist.

Are you checking the items you want synced to the iPod?
Have yu tried resetting the iPod. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

My iPod nano 3rd gen won't sync to my iTunes.

I was charging my iPod when it ended up going to a white screen. I reset it like I was suppose to and that didn't help, so I connected it to my laptop and restored it via iTunes like another post on this forum had suggested. I went back through the setup and did everything the way I had the first time and now it won't sync to my iTunes library. When I go to the iPod tab and select sync, it loads for maybe half a second and stops on my computer screen, then the iPod will show that it's syncing for a few more seconds and then it stops and there is no media on the iPod. Can anyone maybe help me figure this out? Thanks in advance.

I am trying to sync my 3rd gen nano as well with itunes 10 but in my case I can see the removable drive in the Finder. I can eve write files to this mounted drive.
When I connect the same nano to my Windows XP which also has itunes 10 it shows up with the starting config screen.

I don't have a large library of music on my iPhone 4s since I've only had it since Oct 2012, but since the update to iTunes 11 in early December, my album artwork has been all messed up. Everytime I would try to add new music, it would assign the wrong album artwork to anything new coming in. And in addition to that, it would also mess up album artwork of music already on my phone. Everything looked correct in iTunes, but on my phone, not so much. After trying to unsynch, then synching again, my frustration level was at an all-time high. This problem seems to be everywhere online, but no concrete solution for everyone.
I finally came across your simple solution (at least for me because of my small inventory of music) of just deleting all the music through the settings, and then re-synching to add back my music. Now all of the album artwork is correct again. I'm almost afraid to add new music for fear the artwork will get mixed up all over again! I still think my issue is somehow connected to the iTunes 11 update because up until then I had no issues whatsoever. Anyway, thanks for an easy solution that worked for me.

The volume in my ipod nano 3rd gen goes up and down on its own

I notice lately my nano 3rd gen adjust its volume on its own! Also the clicky wheel doesn't work some of the time.
I've tried resetting it and syncing it with my pc but it did not help.
Should I bring this in the store to fix???

Upeace, it's so long ago I can't remember now… But I do know that my newer MBP's volume can be affected by someone tinkering with the Apple TV remote. Is that a possibility? If so you can turn this off in System Preferences. It's not at all easy to find though—you have to go into 'Security Privacy > Firewall > Advanced' and then tick 'Disable remote control infrared receiver'.

Are you sure you have a 4g/3g iPod? If you don't have a camera, it's definitely not 4G. If it has no camera and is 8 or 16 Gb it is a 2G and can't go beyond 4.2.1.
