Thanks for that. Much more constructive than the last comment. It's only the restriction code I can't recall, not the access passcode. So I can currently access the device, just not age restricted content. Does that's make a difference? I also wondered if anyone knew how many attempts you get to try to get it right. Now tried 21 times and so far nothing bad has happened but I am concerned I'll eventually be completely locked out of the device. That doesn't seem in the spirit of things though. Surely it's foreseeable that a child could repeatedly try to guess the code so I can't see that it would be right to lock the device down completely in that circumstance, particularly if the access code is being typed in correctly every time.

First thing coming to mind:
do you double-click on the zip files on the CD ?
Maybe the "unzip" tries to write in-place to the CD which of course is not possible.
Have you tried to copy one of them to your OSX volume/harddisk and thhen double-click the copy ?

HT1363 i have an 8GB ipod touch, it's pretty old now. I've recently tried to reset the whole device as it is being given to someone else and it only comes up with the apple logo and then the screen turns off again. none of the above is helping?

I've recently tried reseting the whole Ipod and it came up with an on-screen message saying ''are you sure you want to reset the device? it will take up to an hour and no music or pictures will be restored'' so i clicked ''Yes, Rest'' (or what ever it said). I am now sitting here 24 hours later with an ipod that won't turn on.

When was the last time you did a backup with iTunes? If your latest backup has all of the material you have been using you can recover by connecting to the computer you sync with and restore the content via iTunes. Attach to your computer, open iTunes and do a backup restore.

I have a ipod touch 4 generation 32 gigs running on 6.1.3 and it lags really bad and a lot of my apps for some reason quit when opened up even though they are up dated my iPod has had this problem for a while it was jailbroken at one but time not any more

Get rid of the newsstand app or put parental controls on it. Apple is being irresponsible. I want my kids to be able to read books with their iPod but not be exposed to ****.Even though they can't download it I don't want them to search or browse on **** topics.

If you've set parental controls up for the app store then you've done all you can to prevent your children from finding/viewing content you dont want them to see in newsstand. Here is some information about newsstand:
Newsstand is a folder that organizes your subscription apps. While it does appear in Recent Apps like an app, you cannot place Newsstand in another folder.
Each publication is a standalone app. For additional assistance or information for that publication, refer to the app's built-in help or App Store listing.
Newsstand-compatible apps automatically move to Newsstand. Tap and hold apps to arrange them in Newsstand.
Note: You cannot drag other publications into Newsstand.
If a subscription app or publication does not appear in Newsstand, verify that the app supports the Newsstand feature.
So all the parental controls you've placed on the app store are effectively placed on newsstand.

I have to manually reset the iPod for the iTunes to run correctly, but then my music isn't added and iTunes tells me I have to restore the iPod... I've done this numerous times only to no avail... Someone please help!!!

Here is what worked for me:
My usb hub, being usb2, was too fast. I moved the wire to a usb port directory on my pc. That is a usb1 port which is slow enough to run your snyc.

After I downloaded and installed the latest iTunes upgrade (to 10.5.1), I am no longer able to download free app upgrades for the apps I have on my iPad/iPhone/iMac which i had previously purchased. Itunes tells me I "don't own the major versions".

Actually It doesn't. It says he's on a MacBook. I don't know all the different types of Macs. I was having a ton of problems with iChat. I opened DMZ to my computer, knocked down all firewalls etc and left everything exposed, still with bad results. A few weeks ago my power supply went out on my D-Link. I bought a linksys. Since I'd left all firewalls off I figured it couldn't be the router. I power cycled everything n the netork, still no luck. Today I bought a universal Power supply and started up my D-Link Router. Everything worked perfectly. My wifes computer - a laptop running Tiger worked fine with the Linksys and did my machine before the Leopard upgrade. Now that I've got the D-Link online everythings working.

Why does iTunes delete my library every time I turn my computer on? All my music is still on my computer but when I open iTunes it comes up with the scan media page. I have to redo my playlists and it takes forever. Can someone help??

Every time I turn my computer on and open iTunes all my music is gone, if comes up with the scan media page, all my playlists have been deleted. All my music is still on the computer and in the files. I don't know why it keeps doing this, it's really annoying as I have loads of music and then have to do my playlists again just to sync my phone. Can someone please help??

Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. Note that in iTunes 11 an "empty" library may show your past purchases with links to stream or download them.
In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
Alternatively, depending on exactly when and why the library went missing, there may be a more recent .tmp file in the main iTunes folder that can be copied and renamed asiTunes Library.itl to restore the library to an earlier state. Look for a recent .tmp file that is similar in size to the .itl files in the Previous iTunes Libraries folder. If it has happened repeatedly you may want the earliest such file generated since the last iTunes upgrade.
If applicable, see iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device. Even if you have the media you can use selected steps from the tip to ensure that you don't lose settings and data from the device as a result of switching libraries.
A large number of users with this issue have been using AVG Anti-Virus which appears to be implicated in the problem. AVG have released a patch which might help, so if you use AVG then I would update that first. I'd also be interested to know which AV you use in case others may cause similar issues. I recommend excluding the iTunes folder from any real-time and scheduled AV scanning process. Another possible cause could be automatic backup tools.

i had this problem and finally figured it out. all that you need to do is go to your start menu and click on computer. select your main drive, (local drive) c usually. Next open the users file follow by your user name file, which is just like it sound it is a file labled as whatever your name is as you have it on your computer. Then you open up the AppData file. Next open the Roaming file. After that open the Apple Computer file followed by the iTunes file. Now you should see the folder labled iTunes Plug-ins folder. Now just Delete that folder. After that go to your iTunes and play your music.
If for some reason you don't see the AppData file you need to go to the upper left of your screen on select organize. a drop down menu will appear and you need to select folder and searc options. a small folder options window will appear. in this window you need to select the view tab. you need to select the show hidden files, folders, and drives bubble. now hit apply and then ok. that will allow the AppData folder to be seen.
