I have the top of the range MacBook Pro. Yet every time I open iPhoto it grinds to a halt with iPhoto crashing 1 out of every 4 times I open it. Is this normal? And if not how can I fix it?

No it's not normal. What version of iPhoto? Post the first 50 lines only of the crash report

Time needed can depend on several things.
• less than 5 GB free space on Start-up (Mac OS) hard disk = Redicolous long times AND a DVD that most probably will not work OK
Medicine - I never go under 25GB free space
• Use of strange file formats into iDVD - can force it to de-code first then re-encode - this can take long long times
I use
Video - StreamingDV as from miniDV tape Cameras - or QuickTime Movies Converted to StreamingDV
Audio - .aiff 16-bit 48 kHz - (no .mp3, .wma etc)
• Use of old Mac - My G4 600MHz took about 24 hour per hour movie. my dG5 - about 2 hours per hour (I use Pro Quality encoding)
• Pro Quality encoding - takes about x2 to process a movie

My MacBook Pro shows the "Macintosh HD" icon on the desktop but my MacBook Air does NOT show the icon on it's desktop. Is this normal? If not, how do I remount the MacBook Air "Macintosh HD" icon on it's desktop?
Is it showing in the Finder?
If so, then this is normal.

I fainted and fell while holding my iPad and the screen cracked; it still works fine. It's just cracked. I feel horrible, it was a gift from my brother. have had this iPad for less than a year so it is still covered under warranties. Does this apply? If not how much to fix the screen? Please help

I recently got my iphone from AT&T which came with a charger and know the charger says "this cable is incompatible with this iphone and is not reliable" can anyone tell me how I can fix this or what to do?

Sharing to DVD I get the following alert " There was an error burning your disc. Not enough Disk Space in Target Folder" I have 700GB free. Where is this target folder located? How can I fix this problem? This is definitely not a space problem.
Since starting with FCP X, there has been tons of issues, now that the product actually works with the exception above, makes it impossible to share the production. Has Apple fixed this problem. is there a knowledge base article on this?
On another note, One reason I have not purchased support on FCP X is because you sold a product that never worked for almost an entire year or more. Now I can finally finish my project, I cannot share it.....Really. This has to be fixed now, I am loosing money as I typed this.

Rob HarrisJust curious, why would repairing permissions, rebooting ( rebooted 2 times already today) or creating a new user possibly fix this.
I cannot create a new user, that is way too much work. I will repair permissions again, I repaired permissions just a few days ago. Then I will reboot, login and turn off App Nap and rerun the Share DVD.
There must be something seriously wrong with the OS if your are suggesting creating another user. WOW!

Hello everyone, My iphone 5 runs IOS7. It can only rotate when the iphone is already in the sideways, but can not rotate up itself when I turn iphone up. I must tap the assistive touch button to rotate it. This is inconvernient for me.How can I fix?
Took my phone to the Apple store this week and they told me it was a hardware/screen malfunction. They replaced the screen for free since it was under warranty. Now it works fine again!

Something is gone in Indesign menu. I dont know why, but the «textwrap» is gone and «stroke». How can I fix this?
When you switch active Extension Set or enable/disable extension(s), Extension Manager will create/update PluginConfig.txt. InDesign will read this file at launch to determine which extensions (plug-ins) should be loaded or not. If this file doesn't exist, InDesign will load all extensions. Also complicated dependency relationship exists among extensions. I am not sure how these extensions ran into incorrect state.
If sometime you have to use Extension Manager, you have to reset the state BEFORE launch it. Otherwise Extension Manager will recreate this file based on incorrect database records and file state.
1. Delete "Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Extension Manager CS6/Configuration/DB/ExMan.db".
2. Delete all files in "Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Extension Manager CS6/EM Store/InDesign CS6"
3. Delete all files in "Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Extension Manager CS6/Mxi Flag/InDesign CS6"
4. Move all files in "Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/InDesign/Version 8.0/nb_NO/Extensions/REMOVED" to the parent folder "Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/InDesign/Version 8.0/nb_NO/Extensions". -
QUESTIONS: I have an iphone 3gs.just updating to ios5. am at the stage where I chose to restore iphone via itunes. sync seems stuck at step 7 of 7: syncing artwork. Is this necessary and if not how do I get around it?
When I use find file http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/30073/find-file (which does tend to find files that "Finder" can't), it's not coming up with any other itunes library files that have been modified in the past week, which I know it would have been - unfortunately, I don't have a very recent backup of the hard drive. It would be a few months old so it wouldn't have the complete library on it....any ideas? I'm wondering if restarting the computer might help but have been afraid to do so in case it would make it harder to recover anything...I was looking at this thread https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4211589?start=0&tstart=0 in the hopes that it might have a helpful suggestion but it's definitely a different scenario.

The pre-2006 iMacs this forum covers cannot run any higher than OS10.5.8, and Apple pretty much stopped pushing out any updates for anything other than the current version.
If your iMac is a newer model (covered here: iMac (Intel) forum) you can run at least 10.6.8, available for purchase rather cheaply here:

and it's possible you can run higher depending on your iMac variant. So find your iMac variant, please do "About this Mac" from your Apple menu and, in the resulting window, click the "More Info" button to get this screen:
Please tell us the code name ans number for your computer in the line I've indicated with the red arrow. For an iMac, it will either be in the format, "PowerMacX,X" or "iMacX,X" depending on the age of your iMac. The trailing numbers where I put Xs will help us help you determine what exact variant you have and what upgrade options are available.
Also tell us how much RAM is installed. Newer OS versions often need more RAM that older iMacs shipped with. -

Please follow the link: CC desktop lists applications as "Up to Date" when not installed and this will help you to fix the issue.

I'd try a hard reset, you have nothing to lose. If that doesn't help and you can shut off the iPod (i.e. the white screen becomes black) you can try to recover it: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
If that still does not fix the problem and it was Apple that replaced the iPod, return it to them, you have a 90 Day Warranty. If you replaced the screen yourself, I have no idea if you did something wrong in the repair or if the replacement screen was defective. That is the main risk of a self repair. I doubt whether Apple will do an out-of-warranty repair on an iPod that has been opened, but you can try. -
