This ''sounds'' like a Windows 8.1 user permissions issue. I've installed Lightning into TB on Windows XP, 7 and various flavours of Linux with no trouble at all. I don't use Windows 8.
Has it asked for permission to make changes to the computer? Have you tried doing this installation with admin privileges? When I do bump into installation issues, and that's any program, not just TB, it's because I'm trying it on the computer at work where the IT department control what mere end-users are allowed to do.

Am using OpenSUSE with a shared .default file for Linux and Mint, where it works. Originally the file loaded but the calendat was unresponsive. Removed and tried to reinstall and now get the above message.
What file does it need and how do I get it to be modifiable while using a common .default file?Check the file ownership, i.e. the user id which owns the file. There is a numeric value behind a user name. My best guess is that the numeric user ids are different for your OpenSUSE and Ubuntu installations.
Start in the extensions directory for Lightning of your Thunderbird profile. This should be something like:
/home/<user id>/.thunderbird/<profile name>/extensions/{e2fda1a4-762b-4020-b5ad-a41df1933103} -
How do I download Adobe Flash Player on my MacBook Pro? It says that I have to disable my antivirus software but I never installed one. Does it come with the Mac in the first place? If so, how can I disable it or get Adobe Flash Player?
That message is just a standard one issued, mainly for Windows users, you can disregard it if you didn't install any anti-virus. (OS X has one installed by Apple that doesn't interfere)
It's just some forms of anti-malware are really paranoid and lock the entire machine down. (like Norton)

I have bought an iMAC second hand but when updates to purchased (not by me) Apps I cannot download the updates as it is asking for the original owners password. How can I amend this or could I delete the Apps and download new ones in place under my email
If the machine was upgraded to Lion 10.7.x by the original owner then you bought an illegal license of Lion and also of any other applications that the seller said came pre-installed, this assumes the seller did not include original install media. In that case you need to contact the seller for the original install DVDs that came with the machine re-install up to Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and then purchase Mountain Lion ($20) and the applications you want or need. If the seller cannot come up with the original install discs then you can buy them from a nominal cost from AppleCare..

Get a free copy of MPEG Streamclip and convert them to QuickTime .mov using the H.264 codec if you are presumably editing in iMovie.
Note that your list of video codecs won't look like mine as I have Final Cut Pro, but H.264 is definitely an option for you. -
In Illustrator, I have a saved artwork, then I'm saving a copy as PDF, as usual.
After I keep the AI file open, making some modifications which I don't want to save, so I close the file and click "Don't Save".
Even though I clicked that, the file's modification time is changing.
(The modifications I made are not there, so it's not really saving but why the date is changing then?)
Please find the cause of it! Thank you!All I can suggest is that you open that file on the MBA and save it as a new file, then see if you can open the new one on the iMac.

I have Macromedia Fireworks 3.0 and the install process doesn´t run! After the installation the message is: fireworks cannot run. the resource files are missing or damaged. I use Windows 8.1. Antworten auf Deutsch wären super!
As far as I know there is no download resource for older Macromedia programs and it is highly unlikely that one as old as version 3 of Fireworks will be able to work on a Windows 8.1 system. I was unable to get a Studio 8 version installation on a Vista system, and likely even an XP system (cannot remember that far back).

MarkYou probably can open the Keynote '06 files with Keynote for iOS but not the other way around. Files created by the iOS iWork apps can only be opened by iWork '09 apps on the Mac.

Can anyone provide instructions regarding downloading Thunderbird on an Apple iPad 2? I attempted to download on the iPad through Google and when the download attempted to start it gave a message that Safari could not download this file.
You can only install apps from the iTunes App Store. That's why Safari won't download it. Even if it did download it, you couldn't install it as iOS wouldn't recognize it as an iOS app (which Thunderbird isn't).

I can print the open file directly to the hp by selecting it in 'wifi' but cannot open a further file without resetting the wifi to that of my modem and then downloading a new item.
