"Clear the Cache": Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now" "Remove the Cookies" from sites that cause problems: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
If this doesn't help, try ending any Firefox processes and completely restart it. If none of this helps you might consider you could have Malware or something nastier. Connection issues can also cause that error message. I remember having the same issue a couple of years ago and had to completely restart my PC for some reason to get the new Firefox to install. Sorry I don't have any more in depth answer.

I have checked the Add-ons manager and the website for information about this problem, but there is no new information. It just says that this extension is not supported.

I recently purchased an old iMac G3 Macintosh. I was wondering, is there a way where I can update it without using an external disc? I've seen the newer Apple products with the dock, if I update my iMac G3, will it have that, and if so, how can I do that?

If you mean the iMac does not have an internal optical drive capable of reading DVDs, the only option requires another Mac with a DVD-capable drive and FireWire ports. Your iMac G3 will also require FireWire ports. Not all G3 iMacs have Firewire. FW started with the Summer 2000 models with 400mHz and faster processors.
With FireWire, you can use FireWire Target Disk mode to install from a retail OS install DVD in another Mac. If you supplemental info info tells us if you have another Mac with a DVD reader and the FW ports, we can walk you through the process.
If the iMac has a tray-loading drive, I'd forget it. They are very limited not only in the OS max (10.3.9) but also in RAM capability. Starting with the slot-loading iMac G3s, the max RAM increased to 1 GB (2 X 512MB modlules). Tiger likes 1GB RAM.
Understand that pre-Intel Macs are getting harder to use. Even with 10.4.11, your choice of browsers is limited (TenFourFox is the most viable option) and the G3s rudimentary video hardware means web browsing will be choppy at best.
If you are in the USA, you can try calling the Apple Store (1-800-MY-APPLE) for an OS disk. As recently as Jan 20, someone posted here that they were able to buy Tiger by calling. It was not clear whether the disks were replacement system install/restore disks or full retail install, but it's a free call.
When you do "About this Mac" to check teh OS verion, also look at the processor speed and tell us what that says. That can help with recommendations for an upgrade path. -
I know many have this issue but i can't find a solution to the problem. i get message saying insuffisiant disk space in the volume iPhoto library and i have plenty of space available. i have the new macbook pro with retina display. i have never seen this message before and i have 2 other macbooks and have had many other also. i am assuming this is a problem with the new macbook retina. does anyone know the exact fix to this issue? i have seen many sugestions to try to fix this issue but none have solved the issue for anyone that i can find in the Apple Support Community. thank for looking into this in advance.
******A true apple fan********Actually your suggestions are the ones that i have tried. i have seen that you have tried to help others with this issue and the only one that i could find that said they found the problem said that it was an ilife update issue and it fixed it and i have no available updates. i know it has to do with something in photo stream because it happens when i create a new library and it is loading the photos but i get the message before i reach the maximum 1000 photos. so i've tried updating, new library(first backing up photos and then deleting them from iPhoto), reinstalling OSX many times, running disc utilities. I called Apple the first day i had this issue and i was the first person to call them for support with the retina display and i actually had it escalated to a senior advisor and we thought we fixed the problem but we did not. i am pretty fluent in dealing with troubleshooting these type of issues and this is the first time i'm reaching out to the community. i figured now that the retina has been out some time now that there would be an obvious answer to this issue. thanks for the quick reply.

I recently downloaded the new Firefox (Firefox 4, I think - you can tell I'm very tech savvy!) and it constantly freezes, I can't do anything with it at all - I can't even close it from the icon in my Mac dock bar.
I have tried restarting my computer - though I have to turn it off by using the power button as as Firefox is open and totally unresponsive it won't let me shut down. About a minute after re-starting Firefox, restoring my tabs or starting afresh, it freezes again.
This is obviously very annoying and I'm not sure what I can do about it. Firefox is my preferred browser, and I'd really like to be able to use it again!This is not a reply. I just want to elaborate on this problem.
My computer freezes occasionally when it is used after being sleep for a while. The spinning ball appears and everything is totally disabled. Nothing on the keyboard works.
The mouse moves, but does not work.
The only solution is to turn the power off and on (losing all data in open applications.)
I kept the System monitor running on the side to find out which program was running when the computer froze. The Monitor as well as all other applications froze, but the data showed:
Firefox 18.4%
Activity Monitor 0.9%
Firefox Plugin 0.2%
This is all the information I have. By the way, I am using iMac with OS 10.6. -
I have just agreed to software updates on my imac and now can't open my mail. There is a message saying this version of mail isn't compatible with this latest software. I have located the updated mail in the applications folder but it won't open. I don't have the original operating software disk. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Your reply suggests that you have moved Mail to a different location, which (as I said) will prevent it from being properly updated. You cannot use Mail 4.5 with any recent version of Mac OS X. Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) included Mail 5 and Mac OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion) includes Mail 6. I'm assuming that you have either Lion or Mountain Lion, but if that is incorrect, you will need to provide that information.
At this point, you will need to reinstall your system. Hold down command-R at startup and reinstall the system right on top of the old one. This should not disturb any of your documents or applications, though you should have backups beforehand in case something goes wrong. And at this point, with your system in an uncertain state (I don't entirely know what you have done to it), something could go wrong.
You will also want to delete the old copy of Mail 4.5, wherever that is. You can't use it.
In the future, do not move any of the preinstalled applications. Leave them where they are. -
My old mac was requested to upgrade Firefox to 14.0.1. After the sucessfully installation, I received a message saying my old Mac couldn't use the new Firefox and Safari crashes. I have NO browser now! Any help would be appreciated.
Hmmm... So you upgraded Firefox and now neither Firefox or Safari will work? Very weird. I have no idea what might have gone wrong. That said, when things start acting wierd, I always try a bit of maintenance first. About 95% of the time, I luck out and it works.
I use the free program Onyx. I run all the clean up routines. Then I boot to the recovery partition (Lion) or the OS X Install Disc and repair permissions and verify/repair the hard disk.

I have an iMac11.2 and am running Mac OS 10.6.8. I have not had a problem viewing videos until the past week or so. Now I cannot view videos on my news, facebook or in email messages at all. A message pops up in the window that says "Blocked plug-in". I have downloaded the latest version of Flash Player for which it asks and still no luck. Can anyone here help me with this? Thank you. Enable iCloud on both, and Calendars on the iPhone should sync with iCal on the Mac wirelessly.

I am an Aperture user and I am tired of managing my old iphoto library seperately. In order to use the new combined aperture/iphoto abilities i need a newer version of iphoto. Apple says that the new iphoto is free, however my iphoto (version 8.1.2) did not update. How do i update iphoto so that i can use the library with Aperture?iPhoto, iMovie and Garageband are free. I have PSE13 on my system, Windows 8.1, 64-bit. It was functioning properly after installation and now I get these messages when I go to print: "The saved printer information is not compatible with this version of Photoshop Elements, or the saved printer is no longer available. You need to check your printer settings before printing." and then this statement: "Default printer could not be opened." I have reloaded drivers for both printers and made any upgrades possible. It was working fine before and now all of a sudden, nothing. Would prefer to have old PSE v.12 back, it worked with no problems.
