I have time capsule and I am unable to connect to the internet using static public IP
I have been using my Time Capsule on my company network for some time.
Recently I removed the time capsule and connected the TC Wan port directly to the firewall. We have got block of static IPs provided to us from our ISP.
Im confused in filling up the internet tap on the Airport Utility (Lion Version)
If Im using a static public IP to connect to the internet should I use
Static, DHCP or PPoe?
IP Address: is this the IP address of the public IP address given to Us from ISP?
Subnetmask. ..no problem
Router Address: what should I type here: IP address of my firewall or my ISP's GateWay IP?
DNS servrs are clear...
Please guide me.
Normally you would just set this up with dhcp to the firewall.. if the firewall is setup correctly it will simply pass you one of the block of static IP addresses.. if it doesn't or get a NAT address you should be able to allocate a static IP to the TC in the firewall to its MAC address.
I am not sure that the static IP will work if you just type it in.

Try static only if dhcp doesn't work because the firewall is not setup.

Yes, a free IP from the block.

Either should work if the firewall is setup correctly.. otherwise just try ISP gateway.

Ive just switched to a "Motorola SURFboard eXtreme Cable Modem" which is connected to a time capsule.
I am unable to connect to my internet via. wifi on my Playstation.
I have already tried many different attempts to connect to the internet. I have tried to directly connect to the internet using an ethernet cable as well as restarting my mac laptop and playstation. I am only able to connect to the internet on my main computer.

What IP does your main computer get.. ?? Post a screenshot if you can as it helps to see the details.
When you open the airport utility on the main computer.. click on the TC what errors does it show?
They will list in the summary.
What mode is the TC in? If the setup went wrong it might be bridged when it should be in router mode..
Remember any time to change things around with cable modems you MUST shut down the modem as well.. it cannot change the MAC address of the first item easily so need to be off.. a few minutes at least.. sometimes up to 20min or longer. Make sure the TC captures the public IP on the wan interface.. which is the only way this will work with a pure modem.
The most recent TC can still have issues.. new AC version TC and AE have the Max amount of issues with SB6121 and 6141.. there seems to be some ethernet issue between them..
What model TC do you have??
You can slow the LAN port down or specify the actual speed in the Gen1-4. -
Unable to Connect to the internet using airport extrteme
I am unable to connect to the internet using airport extreme It was working fine with my G3 & G4 iBooks but now I am unable to connect. I am able to connect directly to my Desktop connecting directly using ethernet. I am also receiving a strong signal from the airport base station. Please help. Thank you.
Try the following, in order, until resolved:
1. If the modem has a reset switch, use it to reset the modem. Wait at least 5-10 minutes for the modem to initialize.
2. Remove power from the modem. If it has a backup battery, remove this as well. Wait 5-10 minutes. Replace the battery, and add power back to the modem.
3. Perform a complete power recycle of your network components as follows:
Modem/Router Power Recycling - Quick
o Power-off the modem, AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS), & computer(s); Wait at least 5 minutes.
o Power-on the modem; Wait at least 5 minutes.
o Power-on the AEBS; Wait at least 5 minutes.
o Power-on the computer(s)
If this fails to get the modem to "recognize" the Internet router, then try the "Full" version.
Modem/Router Power ReCycling - Full
o Power-off the modem, AEBS, & computer(s). (Wait at least 30 minutes. If possible, leave the modem off overnight.)
o Power-on the modem; Wait at least 15 minutes.
o Power-on the AEBS; Wait at least 5 minutes.
o Power-on the computer(s)
4. Contact your ISP to have them perform a "modem reset." -
I just downloaded the latest iOS.7 upgrade on my ipad2, and since I can not connect to the internet using my cellular data plan. I have checked my data plan and it's both current and over 2GB remaining. However the indicator shows no service, thus would be the best steps to recover. I am unable to connect to the internet because to log in i need to put in a password and to do that i need to get to a internet page. helppp
There is no web browser on the ATV, as a result, it cannot be used with such Internet connections.
Contact whomever provides support for the Wi-Fi service, they may be able to add the ATV to a whitelist to allow it to connect. -
I tried to update my browser from 3.6 to4.0. On restarting the computer I found I could no longer connect to the internet. I then connected to the internet using Internet Explorer and removed the mozilla browser and reinstall Mozilla firefox 4.0. Again the browser using this updated version didn't work. So reinstalled Mozilla firefox 3.6 and it worked.

I'm wondering if I can use Apple TV to play movies and slide shows on my TV, play music over my sound system and print from my devices (Iphone 4S, iPad and MacBook pro 2011) by using an Airport Xtreme or Time Capsule (to back up the devices) if those devices are not connected to the internet. Can anyone advise pls? Reason for this is that I work on a moving ship and don't have an internet connection to speak of for much of the time (and if I do it's a wireless system that I need to pay by the minute and that is too slow to support the Apple TV), but would all the same like to create a wireless environment where my devices can interact with each other. I seem to get conficting info and a rep at the apple store in Honolulu told me that you cannot use Airport Xtreme or Time Capsule without an internet connection (it was busy, he may have misunderstood my question).
Looking forward to your input.Don't try to home share it.. as that is dependent on using Apple ID.
Just airplay to the ATV.. iTunes: Using AirPlay
The movie should play exactly as your doing music.. but get rid of the whole home share if that is causing issues.. there is no mention of needing home share in the above..
If you still have issues you might need to do it other ways.. like export the movie from itunes.. and play it using vlc which should allow you to stream it to the apple TV using airplay.
That is a bit tricky and I have not used that setup but it should work.

If you have a hunt around you should find it fairly easy to do.. but straight airplay should work.. there is a very recent update to ATV which might help it with airplay. -
What have my iPhone and iPad both suddenly quit connecting to the internet via wifi?
My phone quit connecting to the internet even when connected to an internet enabled wifi network and then a few days later my iPad has quit. I have taken both to other locations where there are wifi networks available and they will not connect to the internet, though they are connecting to the wifi.
Setting/General/Reset - Reset network settings is a good place to start.

Sounds like this:
iOS: Wi-Fi or Bluetooth settings grayed out or dim
One user reported that placing the iPod in the freezer fixed the problem. A trick that works frequently with iPhones:
Settings > AirPlane Mode ON, Do Not Disturb ON
Power down and wait 5-10 minutes
Power up
Settings > AirPlane Mode OFF, Do Not Disturb OFF

If this is the problem following the instruction. Frequently it is a hardware problem.

? I have done everything the tech support has said to do but I have reached a dead end. I disabled windows firewall and the AVG antivirus on my computerbut I don't think that is the problem. This is were I reach a ead end.... I go to start, click on run, type in serices.msc, then when I try to start SSDP Discovery Service and Uni'versal Plug and Play Device Host I get error messages. The message for SSDP says " Could not start on local computer....Error079: The account specified for this service is different then the account specified in other services running in the same process"
The message for Uni'versal plug says "Error 068: the dependency service or group failed to start"

I'm not sure about your second question, my guess is that the sync list is just a list of files it will copy to your player..
Centrale is known to not be very user friendly.. Do you know that you can also manage your player with Windows Explorer? You can make your own split-screen and use drag and drop to transfer files. -
I want to add airport express. I now have time capsule and I am confuse. Do I setup the express and then time capsule to the express?
Setup the Express to wirelessly extend the Time Capsule, or vice versa depending on which one is already set up. Or you could use bridge mode which involves using an Ethernet cable or Powerline plugs.

Anyone else have time capsule and BT home hub 3 problems
I have a a home home hub 3 with Bt infinity. I have a time capsule connected to it by ethernet. both are creating wireless networks but whenever the time capsule is on I can not connect to the HH wireless network. Any suggestions?
Setup the TC wireless to manual settings so you can reinforce the HH3 and not compete with it.
So
1. The TC should be in bridge. Leave the HH to do routing duties.
2. Go to the TC wireless setup page.
Change the wireless name to match the HH3.
Change the security of the TC to match the HH3 or change the HH3 to match the TC.. only WPA2 AES = WPA2 Personal should be used.
Change to the same passkey.
3. The only difference you need between the two boxes is wireless channel. I recommend you set this manually.
In the TC use 11 or 13 in UK is also fine for 2.4ghz. Use 6 or 1 in the HH. And make sure it is set for 20mhz bandwidth not 40mhz. I do not have a HH to look at but all wireless in the presence of another WAP should automatically drop back to 20mhz.. but some device allow an override.. do not use or force 40mhz wireless.. it will cause issues.
Depending on the utility you use you may also have to set a channel for 5ghz in the TC.. use one of the lower channels for example 36-40.
4. You can also change the name of the 5ghz channel to force devices to use it.. if you are close by the 5ghz in the TC offers much higher speeds.
Does it make sense? I can give screenshots but I am running Snow Leopard on this computer and it is different in v6 utility on Lion or ML.
