I have to click "save as" to download anything
If I click a link to download anything from Firefox (which I use) or even Safari it will just continuously load the page without starting to download it. For instance if I try to download a .zip file it will try to load the page in the browser with the web address ending in .zip. I can get around this most of the time by clicking "save as" and downloading it to my desktop but sometimes this doesn't work (for instance if the download button brings you to another page and then tries to automatically download it from that ie. Adobe Flash)
Any help would be much appreciated. MacBook Pro 10.6.7

I had Firefox 4 for a while but I found it to bring up the waiting symbol (the beachball thing) for a few seconds every time I tried to open a new link. It would go away and open the link eventually but it got kind of annoying. The downloading problem came after I went back to Firefox 3, but not straight away. I'll try Firefox 4 again later this afternoon and let you know how I get on.

Why do I have to click the cloud to download podcasts?
While my podcasts are updating, they appear to automatically download only to icloud. Now, I am forced to click on the cloud icon to the right of each episode of every podcasts in order to download the podcasts into itunes before they will sync to my ipod. What is up with that?
I think this is the same issue as I had - I had almost 1000 episodes to download and they all only had the cloud symbol next to them.
If you go to the 'My Podcast' tab, and then right click on the podcast name in the left hand pane, a 'download all' option shows up. Click that and it will start downloading all those episodes that have a cloud icon next to them. -
when i used to download a game or a programme i use to have a tab that used to ask if i allow the programme or an extension to download. now i cannot find it any more with the new firefox. can you tell me where to look?
You can check if you see a download action for that file tab in Tools > Options > Applications
You can delete the mimeTypes.rdf file in the Firefox Profile Folder to reset all file actions.

I just downloaded IOS6 and now I can't seem to save pictures from Facebook to my iPhone. I click on the picture as I always have and click "save photo", however I can't find where these pictures are being saved. They are not showing up in my photos folder as they once did. Please help!
I was having the same issue and just figured it out. There's a setting you have to turn on to allow Facebook to access your photos. One it's turned on it starts working. Here is the location:
Settings > Privacy > Photos > turn facebook to ON -
HT1491 can't download anything
I have tried everything and still cannot download anything from the itunes store. I have tried on my iphone 5 my wifes 4 our ipad as well as our computer and they are all giving me the same error. The error i'm receiving is 8003, it says the download couldn't be completed but the download never starts. Is anyone else having this issue? we have tried to download on and off wifi, with no avail. Also i have ran the diagnostic in itunes and it says everything is working perfectly.
Depending on why it's been disabled, you might be able to re-enable it via this page : http://appleid.apple.com, then 'reset your password'

My Firefox v6.02 browser always open *.csv (comma delimited) file in another tab rather than downloading a file? I do not have right click option to save this file. My OP is windows XP sp2.

Select any Index type and from dates select just one day or any number of days. Click "Get Details" button. This will open tabular data on loaded page (with link CSV file link at bottom).
When I click this link, it opens CSV file in new tab (in Firefox browser) and does not open download window (just as in case of other file formats like *.zip, *.rar or *.xls).
Right-click of link does not give "save as" or "save file" option.
Firefox is my preferred and default browser.

In Firefox Options / Privacy be sure "Remember download history" is checked. To see all of the options on that panel, "Firefox will" must be set to "Use custom settings for history".

Whenever I click on iTunes store, it just takes me to this huge add to download the new version of iTunes. I have tried clicking the download box and downloading it, but it still will not let me past the add so I can buy music. What gives
this is a follow up from the profane post earlier....
i have done this twice in two other posts..
here is my problem.. i started off trying to update itunes, it failed twice and said i needed to install manually via tools.
the only place to get to tools is the pop up box that appears when you click check for updates.. if there is an available update then the pop up shows up with the quick time and itunes files to download. so i finally figured that out. i clicked on tools and manual update, four files were saved to a file. Apple mobile device support, another one similar, itunes, and another one i cant remember. I only downloaded the itunes file seeing as though thats all i needed to accomplish in the first place.
so then i restarted my computer bc you need to reboot and then reopen itunes for update to take effect. once i have itunes back open i plugged in my new 5s which i am trying to sync to my computer to get all my stuff back bc i lost my previous phone over the weekend.. once i plugged the phone in an error stating i needed to unistall the apple mobile device support and itunes and then reinstall. well i dont know where those files were originally stored on my computer AND since my itunes was updated, just not the other 3 associated files, when i click check for updates it says its up to date and then pop up containing the quick time and itunes does not pop up thus i cant get back to the tools tab to manually save the 4 files again.
so i was just going to uninstall itunes all together and then i thought well what happens if it erases all my photos apps songs etc... which would defeat the whole purpose in the first place of me trying to sync my new phone to get all my stuff back.
so i literally have no idea what to do at this point.. if you have read this you are probably just as confused as me... -
Since downloading Security Update 2012, Word for Mac 2004 is no longer able to Save or Save As documents. After clicking Save or Save As, the program ceases to respond and must be Force Quit. Any tips on making Word functional again?
There was a second Security Update (v1.1). Did you download that one. It was supposed to have fixed the problems created by the prior update. At least is solved my problems with Quicken 2007 for Mac and AppleWorks 6.

i recently updated my macbook, i don't know if that has any effect to my recent problem, but when i try to download and save .mp3 files from the internet, like i have done in the past, it downloads but not as an mp3 file, its "blank" and when i try to open it, i can't? I NEED HELP !

Since downloading Firefox 4, I am having problems archiving gmail conversations from my inbox view (either one or several conversations) as it says "No Conversations Selected" when I have selected one or several. Also, when I go to enter a new event in google calendar, I have to click the cursor in the box to type the event (it used to let me just start typing) or else it flips out and starts jumping to day view or another month. Does anyone know how to fix either of these?

In adobe reader app on iPad, I have a PDF document that added notes and comments to. Once I left the document and returned to it, the notes and comments were gone. Where are they? I clicked "save" and "done" buttons after I entered text.
The application auto-saves your input when you close the document. If you left the document, as you state, the notes/comments should have been saved and should have been visible the next time you opened the document with the Mobile Reader (note that if you are opening the document with another app such as Apple's built in PDF Viewer, things like notes/comments may not be visible). Also note that if you are doing an Open In... from another app (like Dropbox), the version of the document in Dropbox does not update; only the version of the document in the Mobile Reader is updated.

I'm new to iPad mini and uv I'm trying to get a movie I purchased to where I can watch it offline but when I click the option to download and watch offline it keeps giving me and error with download try again later I have a good wifi connection ??
You have a "good WiFi connection". What does that mean exactly? Can you send and receive email and are other internet related activities working OK for you? Have you tried restarting or rebooting your iPad? Sometimes that helps. If nothing else, it's a good place to start.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up. -
Problem: There is 1 website which I had downloaded a pdf from in the past, now this download window continues to popup every couple minutes with a window for me to download again. When this download windows opens I have to click "cancel" repeatedly to get it to close.
I use to have this issue about a year ago, but I found the problem with a program and uninstalled it. But I am not finding anything like that this time.If this happens when you click the Home button then check if you haven't included an automatic download page as one of the home pages.<br />

If you reset Firefox then a new profile is created and some of your data (bookmarks, passwords, cookies, form data) is automatically imported and your current profile will be moved to the desktop (Old Firefox Data).
