I have to delete mail twice

Can anyone please explain why suddenly I have to delete each mail twice from trash?
I highlight the mail. Click on the bin and it goes to trash.
However in Trash I highlight and click the bin: Result the mail remains in trash.
Click the second time and it is deleted.
Not a problem, but I'm curious.

It sounds like email is being delivered to two email clients - Mail & Outlook. Make sure you only have the email application open that you want to use, Mail or Outlook. You can simply quit the one you don't want to use, but it sounds like it might be launching at start-up.
To prevent this go to System Preferences>Users & Groups>Login Items tab and highlight the app you don't want to open and click on the 'minus' key to delete it from your start-up items.
Also, if Outlook is the email program you want to use as your default go to Mail>Preferences>General tab and select Outlook from the drop-down menu, then quit Mail.

  • Why do we have to delete mail twice?

I know that many, if not most, email apps put deleted email into a Trash folder, but almost all of the allow you to empty trash --- NOT go back to every message and delete it again....
Apple, it isn't like you guys to miss something this annoying and obvious....
    Please help!

Select your trash folder. Tap "Edit". Tap the red "Delete All" at the bottom left.

  • HT204022 When a photo that is included in photo stream is deleted from cameraroll it should ask whether we want to delete it from photostream too, shouldn't it? How do I delete a bad photo from camera roll and photo stream? I have to delete it twice???

80% percent of photos we take are bad photos, we delete them later when reviewing them. Now the photos are in both camerroll and photostrean. When we delete them from the camera roll they do not get deleted from photo stream, when I delete them from photo stream they do not get deleted from camera roll.
I want to keep good photos only in both photo stream and camera roll. How do I do it? Delete them twice?? What a waste of time.
When a photo is deleted from camera roll it should ask whether we want to delete it from photo stream too. Otherwise photo stream is useless.I remove bad photos from camera roll but they all stay in the photo stream ...

    Hi JM,
Even 20 days later, the answer is the same.....you have to delete photos from them individually - they are kept in separate places, so you have to delete them from both if you don't want them. However, photostream will, eventually, "delete" the bad photos, since it only keeps up to 1000, and then starts overlaying the oldest ones....
    Sorry....

  • How do you get your email to sync between apple devices?  For example,  I delete an email on iphone and it is still on ipad.  I'd rather not have to delete things twice.  Any suggestions?

    need suggestions

Your email provider must offer IMAP accounts. Then in your email client select the type of account as IMAP rather than POP. Then in your email client enter your email provider's configuration for their outgoing IMAP server and their incomming IMAP server. Just like you did for their POP server.

  • Ipad acting crazy, deleting email, or have to delete twice

Ipad 2 starting to do strange things.  Deletes email on it's own, or I have to delete it twice or empty the trash twice.  The timer sometimes goes on forever.  I have restarted, no change.

Oh, you have a very old iOS.  I'm not sure this feature was available in iOS 4, but try Settings > General > Usage (if it exists).  If it does exist, it will tell you what's hogging your iPad's space.
Note you need an absolute minimum of 10% of your iPad's total space free at all times so your iOS can run.

  • Everytime I delete Mail

Every time I delete my mail from my inbox it goes directly into my All Mail folder instead of my Trash folder like it use to. This is for my GMAIL, account. With my yahoo account the mail I delete goes straight to the rightful place. Should I try to delete my GMAIL account and redo it again? I do not want my mail archiving.. I like a clean mail box and clean all mail folder. It is really starting to get on my nerves that I have to go into my All mail folder to re-delete my mail that should go directly to the trash box but it does not. I should not have to delete Items twice. before I had iOS4 I did not have to do that the deleted mail went to the trash folder and sadly it does not do that even when I Select the mail to be deleted and I hit move to trash it does not go there it goes to my All-Mail folder.. Please fix this issue...I will give you an update and see if me deleting my account will fix this but I have a sneaking suspicion that it will not fix it.
    Thank you.
    Megan

****! I can not believe it was that easy... I am an Idiot.. I did not think to look there.. You saved me a lot of head ache from having to delete my account and redo it and all that mess..
Thank You.. Thank You... Thank you...

  • Deleting videos twice (iPad mini/iPhone 5s)

When I delete a video (meaning movie or tv show, not something taken with the camera) from my iPhone or iPad in the Videos app, it is still visible in iTunes when I connect my device (though it is gone on the device). To remove it completely I also have to delete it from within iTunes and sync. On the flip side, if I first delete the video from iTunes and sync my device, the video is still visible (and playable) on my device until I also delete it from the Videos app. Why do I have to delete videos twice?

    Hi aprild75,
To delete videos or other content from your iPad, use the steps described in this article -
How to delete content you've downloaded from the iTunes Store, App Store, iBooks Store, or Mac App Store - Apple Support
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Deleted mails "disappear"

Since a few days ago, the mails that I delete do not go to the Trash.
In the Mail preferences / Accounts / Mailbox behavior I've got this box activated where it says "Move deleted messages to a separate folder".
So far so good, but WHERE is this separate folder resp. WHERE HAVE MY DELETED MAILS GONE?
Will be happy for any fast reply!!! thanks in advance!

In my mail there is a sub-folder in trash for each account I have set up. I have to click the little arrow beside trash to bring them up. I was having a different problem in mail a few days ago and had to delete the com.apple.mail.plist to fix it. I have the same checkbox clicked you do.
Warning!!! if you do this your will have to set up you accounts in mail again. There is also no guarantee this will fix your problem. It is just a suggestion that has worked with other problems for me.

  • Why do I have to delete a mail message three times?

I've been meaning to ask about this for some time, so the problem is not new, but whenever I want to delete a mail from the inbox, I delete it, then I have to delete it from the Mail trash, then I have to delete it a third time from Mail- On My Mac.
I don't mind deleting twice, I understand that messages get moved into a trash folder (and it's good that they're there in case you need to reference them occasionally), but i'd really like to not have to delete the third time.
    Thanks
    Bruce

Why would it go to On my mac?do you have a rule setup so it redirects your mail from inbox to some folder residing in your On my mac?

I had the same promblem using my ipad2, I thought i was going crazy, then I noticed once when I put my user name in and checked it was right, one time it dropped the last letter of my U/N as went to hit submit so i went back put the deleted "m" back into ".com", hit enter, put in my password multiple times, tripple checked, no joy. So I hit remote on my iphone4s did the same UN/PW and it worked first time! I had the same promblem with accessing YouTube - I know I was putting the right UN/PW in but it wouldn't let me in, then miraculously one time it did... could be a letter dropping bug...

Are you referring to @mac.com, @me.com or @icloud.com emails? Or some other email providers emails?
If the former, it should do that automatically. If the latter, no. iCloud does not (nor is it supposed to) sync non-Apple provided emails.

  • I have an IMAP mailbox that seems to only show mail 7 days old on my iMac running Snow Leopard. However, all old emails that I have not deleted are showing up on my macbook pro running the next OS (Lion?).  How do I get all my old emails back on my iMac?

I have an IMAP mailbox that seems to only show mail 7 days on my iMac running Snow Leopard.  However, on my MacBook Pro I can see all old mail that I have not deleted.  It is running the next operating system (Lion?).  Does anyone know how I can get all my old mail back on my iMac.  It is my primary computer and I need some of those old messages.  I have tried to rebuild the mailbox but it has not done anything.

I have tried to rebuild the mailbox to no avail.  The mailbox behavior says:  Drafts (not checked) store draft messages on the server, Notes (checked) show not in Inbox, Sent (checked) Store sent messages on the server Delete sent messages when (option never selected), Junt (not checked) store junk messages on the server Delete junk messages when (option never selected), Trash (checked) moves deleted messages to the Trash mailbox and (checked)  store deleted messages on the server Permanently erase deleted messages when (one month old option selected).
I have not set up any rules that I know of other than a signature, in the very least I have not changed any.

  • TS4009 How do I clean up mail in my icloud?  I have already deleted old mail on all devices, and emptied the junk & deleted files, but it still shows that I am at max on my icloud. What do I do to free up space? (photos & apps do not take up that much roo

How do I clean up mail in my icloud?  I have already deleted old mail (from all my e-mail accounts) on all devices, and emptied the junk & deleted files, but it still shows that I am at max on my icloud. What do I do to free up space? (photos & apps do not take up that much room).  When I go to manage storage on any device & it will display how much room each program or app is using, it still shows that my e-mail is taking up the most room.  Is there a way to actually log on to the icloud server to manage what it stored there?  If so, how do I do it?  Also, on a related subject,  why does my mail not sync accross all devices?   ie. when I delete an email on one device, why do I still see it on all my other devices?  How can I change this?
I have an iphone5, ipad2, ipod 4th gen, ipod 3rd gen, all running on my same apple id - but I have a PC not a Mac home computer - is this part of the problem?  Looking to upgrade to a Mac sometime this year...
    Thank-you for the help!

I do have the Time Capsule and spoke to Apple Care here in Sydney about it yesterday.  They told me my mail is not backed up there unless I create a special folder. I just tried ringing them again but Apple Care is closed today...
Mail is backed up automatically. If you make backups automatically, open Mail application and then, open the Time Machine app (in /Applications/Utilities). You will access to the Time Machine interface, and you will be able to see all your mails of all the backups you have, and you will be able to restore them. It means that your mails are backed up onto the Time Capsule

You may have to try deleting all the music from your phone (by going to Settings>General>Usage>Music, swipping All Music and tapping Delete), then sync it all back on with iTunes in order to fix this.

So the answer to my question is yes - from an old Exchange account that was provided by a previous employer.
    If so, you can't.
You can't merge or transfer contacts that were synced over the air with an Exchange account with another account, and the same for syncing the contacts direct with a supported address book app on your computer. This is how most employers want it.
