I have to get a new logic board, will this effect the memory on my 4s?

My iPhone came back with major problems when I let someone borrow it. I went and had it looked at by a genius at the apple store, and he said the logic board was messed up or something and it was probably put through the washer. I forgot to ask a lot of questions. If I get this 'logicboard' or whatever replaced will my memory on the iPhone still be the same? Like, will all of my contacts and apps be there like before? I had very important documents on there and I had no backup. I also want to know if the apple store can do this for me. Thanks in advance.

Thry will replace, not repair, it.

  • What will it cost to get a new logic board in my 17" macbook pro 2.2 i7

Water was spilled on a 17" macbook pro 2.2 i7 early 2011 model and now it won't power up. What will Apple charge me to replace the logic board, which I assume is the problem. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

Only Apple can give you a definitive answer.  Take it in for a diagnosis and you will be told what are the exact costs.
    Ciao.

  • I got my logic board replaced along with the memory but I just realized I no longer have Microsoft Word. I pair for it and now I no longer have it. What do I do because obviously Apple won't do anything about it.

Going to type things up for school and just realized that I no longer have Microsoft Word (along with Excel, Powerpoint etc.)
I paid for Microsoft word when I first bought my Mac.

    Reinstall it.

  • Why did I have to get a new username to use this forum?

I have been a .mac subscriber for what seems like centuries (got my first SE in 89), and I've used the discussion forums elsewhere on the mac site a lot. Yet, today, even though the site properly identified me by name when I logged in, it forced me to choose a new username (my old one was "taken") and create a new account. What gives??

    Hi mariaangela!
Are you sure that you entered the exact Apple ID and Password, that you formerly used, to access  Discussions?
The Apple IDs were usually an Email address. And not the same as an Alias used in  Discussions.
What is the Alias of your original account?

  • I have iphone 4 and put on IOS 5 and ICloud and now my battery is doing what everyone else's is doing.  I noticed that the music icon seems to be in the background and I can't get rid of it.  Is this effecting the battery?

My battery is draining too quickly since I installed icloud. I successfully moved everything from mobile me to icloud.  I notice that the music icon and playing the music is still in the background after I close all of the other apps that I have opened in the past. Can you help me identify how to rectify this problem?

  • Do I need a new logic board?

    Hi
I recently acquired a broken 12" ibook G4 1.33GHz which I intend to repair and use as a second home computer. When the machine is booted I get a chime and black screen. That is as far as it gets - it will not even power down properly.
Very occasionally and seemingly randomly it will boot without "cmdopt+OF" to an Open Firmware prompt with an "Illegal Instruction at xxxxxxx" error message. When I continue to try to boot with the "mac-boot" command I eventually get the "No hard drive" screen (with the flashing folder icon). I have already swapped out the broken hard drive that was in there with one I know to work and contain a bootable OSX.
I have tried resetting the PRAM and NVRAM, although I'm not sure it's actually taking effect as I don't get the second chime on the PRAM reset; for what is probably a similar reason none of the boot options seem to work and I can't boot into Open Firmware using cmdopt+OF.
I'm not sure what's left to try. I don't mind getting a new logic board if that's the problem but I would like rule out all other options first. Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance

Try booting from the install disk then run Repair Disk
Insert Installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger) and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel, and report if it says anything but Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
If DU reports errors it cannot repair you will need to use a utility like Tech Tool Pro or Disk Warrior

  • Where Can i buy a Brand New Logic Board for my Macbook Pro?

My Macbook Pro (Mid 2010 13") logic board got fried, so i was just wondering if possible, where i could get a new logic board. Also, would the new 2011 i7 logic board (if purchasable), for the 13" as well be compatible with the chassis/body of my mac?

Apple would be the main supplier of any replacement parts.

  • I have reached the limit on iTunes authorisations because I have had 3 new logic boards under Applecare

I have a had 3 new logic boards for my 2009 Mac Book under Apple care but immediately following each repair, when I run iTunes I have to re-authorise my computer for Itunes.  I am now at my limit - can this number be reset to zero?
    thanks
    Dave

Yes, if you select "Deauthorize all", all your computers and former logic boards will be deauthorized. You can only "deauthorize all" once a year.
Once deauthorized, authorize each computer again.

  • Keys 5-9 no longer work after water damage. Do I need a new logic board?

I had the smallest amount of water on my fingers when I typed something on my keyboard and now keys 5-9 no longer work. Will I need a whole new logic board for this? I've been into two Apple stores and both say I need to book an appointment online. I've been online and tried to book in at three different Apole stores within my area and I just get 'there are no slots available' how am I supposed to get this fixed if I can't book a session to see some!?! Sort it out Apply, it's why your products cost so bl**dy much isn't it!?

thanks, but I really don't think its the logic board since I can still plug in head phones and i can hear movies, etc.
also when i don't have my magicJack plugged in to make calls they now give you a magictalk dial pad to make calls and when i plug in the headphones again i can talk through the speakers and be heard and I can hear them too. Is there something I can used to maybe pull out the connection. I think it thinks the headphones are plugged  in all the time.

  • HT1349 I received a new logic board and now my computer has no serial number under 'about this mac', and I need it to submit questions to apple.  What do I do?

I can't find the serial number for my mac after getting a new logic board on recall for my macbook pro.

You can open System Profiler and see if it contains your serial number.
Or have the computer near a previous connected Wifi or on a Ethernet cable to your router.
Reboot holding the D key down for like what would appear to be 10 minutes until Hardware Test appears on the screen.
You can run a test if you wish.
There is a pane at the top if selected will give you your new serial number.
    You also can use Terminal
You can quickly retrieve any Macs serial number via the command line by using the following command string:
    system_profiler |grep "r (system)"
The command results will look something like this:
    $ system_profiler |grep "r (system)"
    Serial Number (system): C24E1322XXXX
If that fails you can give them your MAC address which is unique to each machine and there are records at Apple with it.
Open Utilities > Terminal. Copy, paste and press enter:
For your computers Ethernet (wired) MAC address: ifconfig en0 | grep ether
For your computers Airport (wireless) MAC address: ifconfig en1 | grep ether

  • Is a new logic board revision confirmed? How to recognize it?

I have seen a lot of talk about a new logic board, and some sort of photo of a paper someone got describing that it required 1.0.4.6...
Is this really a new revision (which then fixes the whine and heat)?
How do you recognize it? I mean, does it have a name, or what do I tell the tech guys at my local service center here in Sweden?
Apple surely must have some stock of spare older logic boards left, and I really want to make sure that I won't receive one of those when I take my MBP in for service.

If your computer is still whining, then yes, you may absolutely be able to get your logic board replaced again. Your logic board was replaced once on March 29th but, as I now too can confirm, Apple released an even newer, revised logic board for the MacBook Pros during the last week of June.
If you are still experiencing the whine, call up AppleCare and simply be persistent and ask for a logic board replacement. If they say they don't know what you're talking about, simply tell them to look it up, as this is what I had to do. Once my Product Specialist sent an "escalation" to Engineering, he called me back within 2 business days and was able to directly confirm that there was a new logic board released recently, and we arranged to have my MBP sent in. And don't worry that your logic board was already replaced once. Mine too was replaced even more recently (end of May), but being as though this revision is very recent, it didn't matter. Just be polite but insist on getting a new logic board.
I however am still waiting on its return to verify whether or not my whine is gone. Turnaround time was amazing; MBP shipped overnight (over Thursday night, that is) and arrived at the repair depot yesterday morning and is on its way back to me as we speak! I should be able to report back on Monday afternoon...

  • Mac got new logic board

My mac had to get a new logic board. I can find my website in idisk public. I see the folder of my website. When I open Iweb my site does not appear.
How do i get Iweb to re-recognize my site?

See this Apple doc on How to back up MobileMe data. It says:
Any websites you have published with iWeb should still be available within iWeb. iWeb stores everything in a Domain file, normally located in the ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder (although it can be moved). If you no longer have this file, you can view your currently published pages and manually recreate them within iWeb, but there is no way to import published pages back into iWeb.
You can manually back up the Domain file, or use Backup to back it up.
By the way, for searching purposes it may be useful to know that an iWeb '06 Domain file is called "Domain.sites" and iWeb '08 & '09 Domain files are called "Domain.sites2" — although the “.sites” extension is usually invisible.
If you don't have a backup of your Domain file (e.g. via Time Machine), paragraph 2.3 of this FAQ page gives some tips on how to use published files, graphics, photos, etc., to help rebuild the site from scratch:

  • Will time machine do a full backup of external volume (extra storage) after new logic board?

I have a MacBook Pro running leopard, that just had the logic board replaced. I haven't picked it up yet, but I am told that my hard drive and data were not touched.
I have read Pondini's very helpfull info/site, so I know that time machine will want to start a new set of backups.
Here is my question, based on my setup:  in addition to the internal HD, I have a firewire drive for additional storage of files. Time machine backs up both volumes to another, larger, FireWire drive
Now, after the new logic board, will time machine make a whole new copy of the external storage drive as well as the internal?  Or just the internal?
Basically, I know time machine will think it's on a new machine, but will it treat the external storage as if it were new as well?
I would appreciate any help or advice you can give me.  Thanks.

Still no answer? I do have the same trouble on my iMac G5 PPC with 10.5.8: I just replaced the MOB and Time Machine insists to create a new bkup! Attempted with "tmutil" command but doesn't work on my OS...it is really impossible to tell the machine to learn the new address? I DON'T want to believe it!
    Tks for any help

  • Can I buy a new Logic Board for an iBook G3 700 12"?

The Logic Board in my iBook G3 700 12" just died. My local reseller says it doesn't qualify for the replacement program.
Anyone know where can I get a NEW Logic Board for my iBook?
I don't like the thought of buying a used on on eBay and having the same problem 6 months from now.
    Thanks!
    Awfers

Hi, and welcome to Apple Discussions.
Yes, but the best place I know actually installs it for less money than they charge you for buying one outright:
    http://www.dttservice.com/ibookg3.html#ibookrepair
They offer a six-month warranty, which is better than most places (including Apple's own 90-day warranty on repairs).
