Hi Maya,
Application sharing server is a dedicated server for handling application sharing processes and data streaming on the portal. This component in the overall RTC architecture is optional. It is only needed if you intend to offer application sharing as a collaborative feature for end users of the portal. Otherwise no need to install it. It can be installed on any machine in your environment. It is recommended to install it on a dedicated machine due to the heavy performance load it can generate. It can be installed on the portal server.

Error in loading Portal Content with IE

Hi,
I have some problems with customization of Sap Portal, maybe someone can help me
with some informations.
I am using Sap Netweaver Portal 7.0 with IE 6.0.2900 SP2 and Mozzila Mozilla/5.0.
When I try to display Content Administration -> Portal Catalog with IE I have one
error(after a long period of "Loading..."):
Error: Object required - and the Portal Content is not displayed at all .
In this way, I don't have acces to Portal Content with IE.
I also tried with other browsers (Opera, Netscape, Lotus) but there is the
same issue.
In Firefox, the Portal Content it's displayed, but there is another issue:
I open a Role object and I try to Edit it's properties: these aren't displayed
in the right corner of the screen. I checked in the Error Console of Firefox
and there is a JS err: event is not defined: error in roleeditor.js
In this way I am not able to handle any issue regarding Portal Content.
Maybe some of you, guys, had this problem or have any idea about solving it.

Yes, the error appears when you access the portal with the IP address which should not be the approach.
Use the domain name instead ... i.e hostname.domain.com:portnumber.

Internet exlorer 7.0 can not display crm portal content

hi gurus,
we are using crm5.0+ep7.0, we have loaded the portal content (business packages) for crm and crm high tech. the patch level is: 13 level 0 (BBPCRM is 6).
I use portal role channel manager. when we want to display some crm content in portal which runs by explorer 7.0, sap will popup another window and turn into blank with error. the ie error says: object doesn't support this property or method. and the url:http://crmdev.iecsh.com:8000/sap(ZT1PQnhTbWh6Ym01Y0R3M0JqKnQ2R1VRLS10MDlLNjhsU1Z6XzdLTmUqc2RFUjFnLS0=)/bc/bsp/sap/crm_bsp_frame/mainDH.do
while the original window is just continuing displaying the signal: loading.
with ie 6.0, it's ok.

This version (IE 7.0) "should be" supported as of SPS19 (NW '04) or SPS10(NW 2004s) and there exist several errors found in the operation on previous releases.
be supported or the SPS be released (this is mentioned on the note), please note that once the system has performed the update there is not possible to go back to IE 6.0

Give iView as link in portal content area

Dear All,
I have divided my portal content area into 4 section. In one section i got my GP process. I have created the process as iview. I have tried to give this iview link to the end-user to open the process. Is it possible to bring iview inside one section of content area. If any one did this or got knowledge on this, pls through some light on this.

not sure what do you mean by "bring iview inside one section of content area". Are you willing to show only the single iView or you want to show it with some other iViews also? For first case URL to the single iView will work. For the second type of requirement you can add the iViews inside a page and give the Page URL to the users instead of iView URL.

Right clicking on your ipod in the device list an d choosing "transfer purchases" will copy apps and bought media from iTunes to your computer. Due to the new iTunes library on your new HD, iTunes will erase your ipod during the first sync. To save your data to the computer take a look at this article about saving data from your device to a computer: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137
Basically it's backing up manually, transferring her purchases (apps and bought music), letting iTunes erase the ipod due to the new iTunes library, and restoring from the manual backup again, to get all the data and settings back.
Make sure your new computer account is authorized in iTunes. Disable autosync in itunes, connect your ipod, right click on it in the device list and choose backup.

Transfer your purchases the same way to copy all apps and bought media from the Store to your computer.
Set up at least one contact and event on your computer to be able the merge your calendars and contacts after your ipod got wiped during the first sync.

Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.

You don't need to install iTunes for the purchase history. You can see it in your iPad (iTunes > Purchased), but you need to install it if you want the order numbers

You will lose your app data unless you backup to the new computer and then restore from backup will all the app in the iTunes library of the new computer.

Javascript error in Content Admin- Portal Content

We have just installed SAP Netweaver Portal 7.0. We get an error of javascript when we navigate to Content Administration->Portal Content and due to this Portal Content Folder is not displayed. While through Super Admin role Portal Content is displayed with javascript error. Please guide us, its Urgent.

Hi there,
these days, I installed a NW710 in our team server, and try to configure its UWL to one backend system. Therefore I need to create a new system entry from "System Administration->System Configuration->Portal Content->New->System(from template)".
After a few test, I found I can't do these operations: "add folder", "open properties", "open permissions", "new system", I got following runtime error when I clicked them:

Hope you are using IE. If so,
1. Go to Tools - > Internet Options - > Advanced .
Enable " http1.1 through Proxy Connections".
2. Increase the Cache.
B. Check whether the user has permissions to access the portal content
Go to Content Administration - > Portal Content.
Select Portal Content and right click. Select Permissions and check out.

EnterPrise Portal Content Missing

Hi Friends,
I have recently Installed NW2004S (with usage types ep and pi) on Sun Solaris OS 5.10 and Oracle 10.2 for Test Environment.After Installing Facing issue with Java Engine.
I am facing 2 issues:
1)For every half an hour server0 is restarting automatically.
2)Portal content folder is missing.
Could some one please help me to resolve this.I am new to J2ee Engine.

Check the log file for the error. I think it could be some problem with JVM heap size. Check the log files using this link.

Also refer SAP Note 710146.
For Portal content folder, permissions are missing. Login with admin account. Go to System Admin -> Permissions -> Portal permissions -> Right click 'Portal content' folder and select Open Permissions. Check if the user has atleast read permission. To create iViews etc, user should have read/write permission. Also make sure end user checkbox is marked.

if i'm implementing srm-portal-mdm-r3 it's necessary?
because i'm not using all the srm catalog, and only installed the mdm portal content, i'll have some problems?

The purpose of SRM-MDM is to use MDM as the catalog. You would store the data in MDM and SRM will then reference MDM ad-hoc. As part of the implementation, SAP delivers a webdynpro application which is deployed on a Netweaver Java stack, and that's what the user uses to search the catalog. The two applications (iViews) are called SearchUI and AdminUI. If you aren't going to use these, how are you planning on searching the catalog from SRM?
