I have to keep force quiting firefox, hard disc is continually spinning while using this web broser

I have downloaded the new version of firefox for my mac. When I use it the hard disc is continually running and slowing down the function of the system.
When I want to quit it also mentions that I need to force quit firefox.

What do you have open in Safari? Also, open the Spin Control utility.

My MacBookPro8,1 keeps freezing up every 5 -10 minutes and I have to hit force quit to be able to continue.  What can I do to fix this?

    Reinstall OS X:
Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
    Do the following:
    1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install the Combo Updater for the version you prefer from support.apple.com/downloads/.

  • Why do i have to keep Force quitting applications ever since i upgraded to Mountain lion. It is very annoying when applications cannot be existed normally

Why do i have to keep Force quitting applications ever since i upgraded to Mountain lion. It is very annoying when applications cannot be existed normally.

Does your system meet these Mountain Lion System Requirements?:
    General Requirements
    OS X v10.6.8 or later
    2GB of memory
    8GB of available space
Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.
    Supported
    Models
    iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
And as user macsonrisanoted above, 4 GB of RAM is the practical minimum amount of RAM that Mountain Lion really needs since the OS itself uses at least that much often by itself.

  • Firefox crashed and now won't open - it freezes and I have to keep force quitting it.

I have uninstalled and re installed firefox on my macbook. I have restarted my computer. It started crashing when a friend asked me to video chat on facebook. I tried three times and firfox wouldn't comply so I went to safari. when I came back to firefox - firefox was not working at all. I get the spinny wheel as soon as I open it and it doesn't go to any webpage. I don't even get the this is embarassing window anymore. How do I get it to work again? I prefer firefox over safari.

UPDATE:  From reading some other post I believe that my large video files in iphoto are lagging my imovie so I guess I should have never imported the thumbnails, but the question is now how can I delete them from imovie?  (so i can just import them manually when I work on a video)  I go into the iphoto folder and see a folder labeled "thumbnails" and in that are 3 folders labeled 2011 2012 2013 and one more item (not a folder, but a piece of paper icon) but its labeled imovie data.  I really dont want to delete anything  but was wondering if this has anything to do with it.

  • Why won't my imovie run properly, I have to keep force quitting it?

I have version 9.0.4 and have had imovie for 2 years now on my new imac.  When I first got it i tried making a movie by stringing together some of my video clips from iphoto, and even then the apple wheel would show up on the screen and nothing would happen so I would have to force quit.  Even now when I open it eventually all my videos and pictures from iphoto will pop up on the bottom of the screen but it takes forever, and then when I go to click on one or anywhere on the screen for that matter the apple wheel comes up again! So sufficite it to say I HAVE NEVER ever been able to utilize my imovie.   I have a wide number of pictures and videos (9,000 at least) in iphoto and am wondering if this is the reason for it being so slow because it is trying to load all of this data? (I have plentyyyy of storage left on my computer)
Yesterday I downloaded 9.0.4 update on apple website hoping that this would work, it asked me if I wanted to import my iphoto videos and I said yes and it took about 40 minutes, but I am still haveing the same problem....I wonder if I should have said "no" to this.  Is there another UPDATE that I should downlaod to replace this version of imovie or is their something different i can do?
I'm running snow leopard version 10.6.8,   2.93 GHz,    intel core i7

  • Try to print a coupon using the coupon printer and it doesn't respond. I have to force quit firefox.

Up until recently I have been able to print coupons using Firefox. Now when I try to using the coupon printer Firefox becomes unresponsive and so I have to force quit Firefox. I have a Mac OSX version 10.5.8 desktop with Firefox 8.0 beta.

Because you've continued your topic in another thread, I will lock this one.

  • The Menu bar is visible but not functional, I have to force-quit Firefox 4.0 every time I want to close the application.

This is a recurring but not constant problem I encounter while running Firefox 4.0 on my MacBook OSX10.6.7. The Menu bar across the very top of the screen will be visible, but none of the menus will work if I click on them (File, Edit, View, History, etc.) I have to force-quit Firefox and restart it to get it to work again.
Also, my pinned tabs have disappeared, for no apparent reason. And to be honest, this version is way slower and buggier than my old Firefox, and it's driving me nuts.

Hello DRAnderson100, try to delete the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Localstore.rdf localstore.rdf] in [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox profile folder] and check it again.

trying to update adobe flash player on firefox and it keeps saying "Quit Firefox" but I did.

    Hello,
    Welcome to Adobe Forums.
Do you have a MAC or Windows ?
For Windows, you can launch Windows Task Manager and go to Processes Tab, kill "Firefox.exe"
For MAC, you can launch Activity Monitor and Force Quit "Firefox"

  • Illustrator keeps force quitting

HELP! My Illustrator CC keeps force quitting. I have already  uninstalled it and reinstalled it - not working. Somebody help me please. I am using Mac Yosemite. I tried to call adobe and I can't get anyone on the phone or live chat on here. Thank you in advanced.

Okay, I'll just want to let you know that I chatted with the support.
    We did the following:
    - Quit the Creative Cloud App.
    - Deinstall Illustrator (the preferences included)
    - Make a new user and log in there
    - Download Illustrator: Adobe CC 2014 Direct Download Links: Creative Cloud 2014 Release | ProDesignTools
(and also the newest Update. You can find it on this side too)
    - Install Illustrator
    - Change the user and try if it works.
At this point I left the conversation because the problem was gone. BUT then I deleted the test account and started the Creative Cloud App again.
After this the problem appeared again!
I just rebooted my computer and with it the Creative Cloud App started automatically. Till now I don't have problems anymore. Hope that won't change.

Thanks for responding....but isn't your potential solution designed for Windows users? I have a Mac.
If it does apply to Mac, I am also hoping for something simpler as this could take weeks to isolate the problem and it would be more efficient to use another browser for mail
Also, I should have added, this problem occurs only occasionally and seemingly only when I am taking some time to compose a message

I am having problems with the Preview application.  When I try to use it to open a pdf document it gets hung-up and I have to select force quit to close it.   Any ideas on how to resolve this problem?  Thanks for any help

Can you open the Preview program without loading a file, like by itself?
If it doesn't load then I suspect a corrupt Preview preference file.
Deleting the System Preference or other .plist file
Can you open other files with Preview, like jpg's and images?
How about other PDFs? or is it just that one you have downloaded?

  • Adobe Flash CS4 keeps force quitting instantly.

When I was trying to work on an animation file (63.8 MB file), the program would force quit on me instantly without warning.  I was able to keep it open yesterday, but today it won't stay open no matter what.  I now realize my file keeps force quitting because of one of my voice files I've imported (Waveform audio).  What confuses me is that that file is no different than my other voice file I've imported (except it's a second long than 3 seconds long).  What should I do to keep my file open?

Actually, this IS the Photoshop forum. The Flash fora are HERE.
    Good luck.

I opened my Power Point program and am unable to close it.  I have tried to force quit and restart the computer but nothing seems to work.  Any suggestions?

command-option-escape.  Mind you any unsaved data will be lost unless it is stuck in wherever Powerpoint stores temporary autosave documents.

  • How do I force quit firefox?

The the tool and navigation bars are gone, I don't know why. Now I want to quit, or rather force-quit firefox. How in the world can I do it?
Methinks this browser is getting ever worse, with every new version!

Please change the title of this discussion, if you're only talking about how to make the command bar visible. Your title is misleading.
My problem is, how do you Force Firefox to QUIT when you want to shut down a session that is taking an unacceptable length of time to do whatever bulls* the programmers thought was so important that the didn't leave any exit points for Users to exit, for minutes at a time.
