I have to login to sync every time I restart Firefox

I use Firefox Sync (in Firefox 4.0.1) on two deskcomputers (Apple Mac). I succeeded in setting up an account and syncing everything.
But each time I close and re-open Firefox I have to set up Sync again. This includes filling out my sync key.
This doesn't seem normal to me. Is this due to the Firefox preferences where I tell Firefox to delete its history (except cookies)?
And if this is the case, what information must Firefox keep in order to make Sync work?

Sounds that the server sends the page with the wrong encoding because if the server sends an encoding then that prevails and you need to use the "Firefox > Web Developer" menu or on XP possibly "View > Character Encoding" in the menu bar is visible to change the encoding to Unicode.<br />
If you have the orange Firefox menu button then you can set the browser.menu.showCharacterEncoding pref to true on the <b>about:config</b> page for easier access.
I don't know if there are still extensions to set the encoding that work properly in current Firefox releases, but you can have a look on the Add-ons site.

• Why do I have to reinstall add-ons every time I restart firefox?

Every time I restart Firefox, all my add-ons have disappeared and I have to reinstall them again. Any idea what I can do about that? Thanks!

There is software like Advanced SystemCare with its Surfing Protection feature that can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes.
If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.
It is possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.
Delete the extensions.* files (e.g. extensions.json, extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.
New files will be created when required.
See "Corrupt extension files":
*https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Unable+to+install+add-ons
If you see disabled or not compatible extensions in "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the Tools button at the left end of the Search bar to check if there is a compatibility update available.
If this hasn't helped then also delete possible addons.json and addons.sqlite files.

• Why do I have to reload Flashplayer 11 every time I restart Firefox?

I am running Firefox 10.0.2 I have flashplayer11-2_p6_install_win_pi32_022712 dot exe installed and can watch all videos that I encounter. BUT, every time I shut down Firefox, flashplayer is dumped and has to be reloaded the next time I start up! Symptoms are a black screen where the video should be on a web page. I understand that there is a possibility of a conflict with real player. I have tried to remove the real player plug ins but they come back every time I start firefox. I am stumped! Any suggestions gratefully received.

Thanks Cor-el, I have tried your suggestion of deleting the pluginreg.dat without affecting the problem.
In the Plugins tab I see Shockwave Flash 11.2.202.221. But it does not work. If I wish to use any Flash site including You Tube and many others then, before starting Firefox, I have to install Flash. If I start Firefox and then visit a Flash site I have to shut down Firefox and reload Flash before restarting Firefox. This is true on every occasion after the computer has been shut down.
Notes: I CAN watch a very few you tube videos in Firefox. Internet Explorer also shows a similar fault telling me to load the latest version of Flash Player. Apple Safari allows viewing of most youTube videos. Google Chrome allows viewing of all youTube videos!
Any other thoughts would be gratefully received!

• I have installed a theme, why every time I restart firefox do I have to manually enable it?

Okay i have a few different themes that I have downloaded from the add on site. They all work. The problem is that I enable the theme I want, it works while I'm on firefox, but when I sign off and sign back on, the theme isn't on there anymore. I have to go enable it. It has nothing to do that I have a few of them downloaded, once I deleted all but one and got the same problem. How can I keep my theme to stay on firefox permantly(or until i disable it)? The other problem is with persona's. I have downloaded several of those and none of them work. Oh and yes the themes and persona's all say they are compatible with this newest version of firefox. Please help me. I have never used this question site before. <!-- Here is my email if you need it *@yahoo.com --> Thank You, Chris McConnell

• How do I stop my toolbar buttons disappearing every time I restart Firefox?

My toolbar buttons disappear every time I restart Firefox 4.0.1. They used to disappear only every week or so. Then I tried the recommended fix at "http://kb.mozillazine.org/Bookmarks_history_and_toolbar_buttons_not_working_-_Firefox" dealing with file places.sqlite. Now they disappear every time I start, which is several times a day due to RAM usage sometimes approaching 1GB after a few hours. I am on Win 7 and have customized with tabs on bottom and to display the menu bar and put my buttons at top to save space. This is driving me insane. I have to re-customize the toolbars every time I open the browser. I did not have this problem with Ff 3.6. I have tried the safe mode and checked add-ons 1 at a time. Nothing changes except now it's every time instead of every week or so. I cannot switch to Chrome full time because they don't have all the add-ons I need for work. Please help.

If you lose the toolbar customization then you do not have a problem with places.sqlite, but with the file localstore.rdf in the Profile folder.

• Why is it that every time I restart Firefox it deletes my quick links that are located right under the address bar?

This is a recent problem and it has happened 4 consecutive times now. Every time I restart Firefox it has removed my quick links to the websites I visit most often. I didn't have a problem like this for over a year, and then it seemed to start right after some recent Firefox updates.

This is a Community-Driven Support Web Site for Firefox.
The community are volunteers; just ordinary users like yourself who use the Firefox browser and try to offer other users free support. Please remember this and moderate your language to show some respect. I know you are frustrated, but venting this on people who do their best to help others in their free time is not likely to be well received.

I want to setup my computer sync automatically every time I start Firefox. Is there any way to do this?
Thanks for any reply..

That is the way Mac OS X 10.8 (aka Mountain Lion) works by default. Are you actually running that system? (See About This Mac in the Apple menu.) If so, make sure the check box in the shut down alert is checked:

• Flash uninstalls every time I restart firefox

Every time I close Firefox, Flash uninstalls. Every time. I am getting tired of reinstalling manually every time I want to view a site that uses Flash. Please help!

Did you try creating a new Firefox profile ?
Did you succeed in getting a new clean profile running, one with no add-ons, and only the default bookmarks lists ?
* open the new profile in Firefox's safe mode, check it has no plugins listed, or if it has uninstall them whilst in safe mode
* restart firefox again using this new profile and check it shows no add-ons or plugins.
* just to be sure restart your computer and check again
If so did you then try to open that new profile and install the Flash player plugin into it.
May also need to consider
* http://kb.mozillazine.org/Preferences_not_saved
A clean reinstall may solve the problem but do not try that yet, because you could loose information. You are mentioning multiple profiles by this I guess you are referring to having multiple Windows accounts on your computer
* is that correct ?
** or are you for instance using multiple Firefox profiles already from a single Windows account
* do all users have bookmarks and/or passwords that you may like to retain ?

• I have to sign in into firefox sync every time i start firefox

I'm using Firefox 34.0.5 and everytime i start it sync isn't working. It either says session expired, you need to sign in to continue or asks me to re-sign in with a password in order to work. None the less when i manage to sign in sync doesn't save my bookmarks and other stuff.

I have to troubleshooting questions:
Do you have cookies enabled for accounts.firefox.com?
*
Do you have dom storage enabled as well? Firefox Sync troubleshooting and tips (go to the end of the article)
Does this happen on all or one device, and does this happen with all of your other sites that require logins?
If changing the cookie settings does not help, try it in Firefox Safe Mode to make sure its not an add on: Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode
Then we can take a look at the logs to see if there are any errors: * How do I turn on sync logs:
# Open about:config and turn on: services.sync.log.appender.file.logOnSuccess and services.sync.log.logger.engine.bookmarks
# Restart Firefox and look at: about:sync-log
# Logs and error messages will be located here
Please also use pastebin.mozilla.org for sharing any errors that relate to this issue.

• Apple TV Completely Re-syncing Every Time I restart iTunes

After the last patch to iTunes (via Software Update), every time that I stop and start iTunes it does a full wipe of the Apple TV's hard drive and a full re-sync. Which takes almost an hour since I have over 3,000 songs.
Any ideas what might be causing this new "feature"? It's REALLY annoying!
