I have to login when starting my Mac

Everytime when I start my computer I have to login with my password. Never had that before.
How can I change that?
Regards

Open Users & Groups preferences. Click on the lock icon and authenticate with your admin password. Click on the Login Options button below the users list. At the top enable Automatic Login. You will need to select the user and then provide the password for that user.

  • I have a problem when starting my Macbook. A message saying /Library/StartupItems/Icon has not been started due to not having the right security settings. So far it is not under HD og system folder, nor can't find via terminal. Any good suggestions?

I have tried to delete it via terminal but no luck, have also run a disk permissions repair but no luck.
I still shows when starting the mac or restarting it.
Any of you have a good suggestion of what do??
Just hate when it appears every time I start the Mac

What items do you have in the Startup Items of your System Preference for your present login user?  Maybe removing and adding them back in will help?
    /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/Resources
includes the iTunes Helper application in case you need to reconnect it later.

  • When starting my mac air a lot os utilities opens, I would like to change the start up, how?

when starting my mac air a lot os utilities opens, I would like to change the start up, how?

System Preferences - Users and Groups - Login Items - remove any that you don't want on startup.
Don't forget also that Lion will automatically restart any apps you had open when you shut down, unless you untick the "Reopen windows when logging back in" tickbox that appears.

Which model MacBook Pro do you have (e.g., "15-inch Late 2011") and which version of OS X are you running?
You may want to try resetting your SMC -> Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC).
If no joy there, call back with th requested information.

  • ITunes 11.4 crashes immediately when started on Mac OS 10.6.

We have an old Macbook running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and started iTunes to move our Library to a new Macbook Air. iTunes suggested to upgrade, which we did. When starting iTunes it crashes immediately. Any suggestions?

I am having the exact same problem in my work environment. I have not yet found a solution to to the issue myself. At the moment with the workstations in my office I am going to have to install Acrobat 9 until the is an update provided... Which is going to be hard because Reader crashes becfore I even get a chance to check for updates.
I do agree that it could be a permissions issue because a user who is a local administrator to one of the workstations has been using it no problems... But as soon as a user without aministrator permissions gets on it crashes. Does seem like a bit of an amateur problem. Could an organisation like Adobe really make a mistake like this?

  • "Stop Sign" when starting the mac after reinstallation...

    Hello,
I had a problem with my mac mini OS X Lion, the  problem was that some symbols started to change places and dissapear. so i called the apple support and they tryed to help me for 1.5h on phone without success, the last thing they told me to do was to erase the disk and totaly reinstall the OS, so i did.
it was downloading for about 5h and when i checked it the day after it was a "stop sign" on the screen so i waited for another day and the sign was still there,so i hold in the start buttom to force it to turn of and started again, the apple sign showed up for about 30sec - 1 min and then the stop sign appeared again....
i also tryed to start it with holding in the mac buttom and R, and also D when clicking on the start buttom without success..
did anyone else experience this ****?
If so please give me some tips so my lovely mac can come back to life.
    Kind Regards
    Ompaa

OK, sounds like things aren't as bad as I feared. Could be a problem with your internet connection. In any case, start again.
    Follow this guideline EXACTLY (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718):
    The short version:
Restart your Mac and hold down the Command key and the R key (Command-R), and keep holding them until the Apple icon appears.
After the Recovery HD has finished starting up, you should see a desktop with a Mac OS X menu bar and a "Mac OS X Utilities" application window.
In order to reinstall OS X Lion, you will need to be connected to an Ethernet or Wi-Fi network. The Wi-Fi menu item is in the upper-right corner of the screen. Click the icon to display all available Wi-Fi networks. Click your preferred network name and, if needed, enter a username and/or password for your wifi.

  • Help with FLASHING QUESTION mark when starting the mac

    Hi All,
My mac just froze,i had to do force shut down, when i restarted it i had the flashing question mark.Did all the instruction that are given in the site:restarting with the installation CD and then using the *disc utility*-BUT i could not find the hard drive that i need to do the "repair disc " on.So i did what the document said and i reset the PRAM-still my hard drive does not show up in the disc utility.I also tried to reset the SMC but again -same result.
please please try and help me,is my HD doomed? is there anything else i should try?

I have the exact same problem.
Today, when I turned my macbook on, it was so slow, that I decided to restart it. When I turned it on again, I got the folder with a questionmark in it on the display. Tried to put the installer CD in, but it couldn't find the HDD. Ran the Disk Utility, which said: "Invalid node structure" and "Invalid record count".
I think the HDD is "destroyed", because it makes strange sounds. But how? And why?
The Macbook isn't even a year old.
    Any help?

  • Photoshop Elements 6 lags for 10 minutes when starting in Mac OS

Recently our photoshop elements 7 starting lagging at start-up, for a very long time.  We are running Mac OS 10.5.7.   Nothing we do gets it to wake up, it says "scanning for presets"

Are you talking about PSE 6 on OS X or PSE 7 in some kind of virtualization?
If you meant PSE 6, then go to your username>library>preferences and delete:
    com.adobe.Photoshop.Elements.plist
    Adobe PSE 6.0 paths
    Adobe PSE 6.0 settings
    opera preferences
    Repair permissions and try again.

  • How can I turn off lots of failure popups when starting my mac?

    Dear community!
Everytime I change my network, I get failure popups caused by missing server connection. How can I turn these messages off?
I know the reason: at work I have lots of connections to different server and of course I don't have them at home.
It's boring to click up to 10 times at these error popups to close them.
Does anybody know how I can solve this issue?
THX in advance for your help!
    Regards, Tina

Please take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Back up all data before making any changes.
    Step 1
    Boot in safe mode.
Log in and see whether you still have the problem. If you don't, it's caused by one of your login items or a system modification that loads at startup or login. Ask if you need help identifying it. A common offender is "Adobe Synchronizer," which is a component of some Adobe products.
    Step 2
Triple-click the line below to select it, then copy the text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    ~/Library/PDF Services
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return. A folder may open. If it does, move the contents to the Desktop, or to a new folder on the Desktop. Log out and log back in. Test. If there's no change, put the items you moved back where they were and continue.
    Step 3
    Open the folder
    ~/Library/Preferences
as in Step 2 and move the following items in that folder to the Trash, if they exist:
    com.apple.recentitems.plist
    loginwindow.plist
Log out and back in again, and test.
    Step 4
Other possible causes are references in the iPhoto, iTunes, or iMovie library pointing to the server, and bookmarks in the Preview application.
    Try rebuilding the iPhoto library.

  • Family Share - Kids still have to login when picking app??

I'm in the process of changing the iPads for my children by enabling the Family Sharing option.  I've successfully setup two icloud accounts for them, and associated their appstore/itunes account with the new iCloud account.  They both show up under our list of Family members as children with Ask to Buy turned on.   How come when browsing the appstore to select an app on the kid's iPad, it still prompts them for their password to their iCloud account?  I would have assumed this would have immediately prompted the parent/organizer for their approval without the child being forced to put in the password?  This doesn't make sense to me?

I see what you mean.  The Family Sharing documentation emphasizes that they should choose a password and security questions that they can remember but at the same time you are encouraged to use a strong password and 2-step verification for your iCloud account.  You might want to share your feedback on this here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/icloud.html.  As I mentioned, I assume this is to ensure that when the ask to buy request comes to you that you know it was really from them and not just someone who found/stole their device.

  • When starting my MAC on the home page with my icons--  how do I arrange icons alphabetically left to right

How does one arrange icons from left to right ala Windows.  I would like the Mac disk icon in the upper left of the window followed by app and file icons to appear in alphabetical order from left to right.  I know it will go vertically and then to the next row.  I have been reading English like this for over 60 yrs and the default set-up gives an old man a large pain in the head.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Jim Buckley

I think they do it to be a pain in the ***. There is no reason to have people read in reverse alpha order.  Some countries read right to left but here it's reversed. You think the geniuses  here would figure out how to make allowance for that in their software.
I love the mac mini's size, etc, but using mac in general has made me nuts. I don't understand how people think it's intuitive. I find myself taking a ridiculous amount of steps to get anything done, but it may just be me. I know some people just love them.

Not that there are any real solutions but there is a thread dedicated to this exact problem:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1627678&tstart=0
It seems as though it is a hardware issue. You may try bringing the MacBook Pro to an Apple Store (depending on where you are.) Be sure to bring the picture that you have here.

  • Blue Earth Icon Blinking when starting my mac

I just installed Leopard, and I have a problem. My iMac G5 is not booting anymore, I get a blue earth icon (blinking). I have no clue what it means. But the mac will not boot.
Anybody has a clue what happening?

Restart with the X key held down; this changes the startup disk to a Mac OS X system instead of the network disk the computer was looking for.

  • When starting up my mac the dock doe´s not start so i can not reach finder. Is there some help to this problem?

Problems when starting my Mac I log in and normaly the dock comes up on my screen but it does not appere now. Maybe the problem is because my hard driver is full I have got the message that the startdisc is full.
It would be nice if someone has a help for this.
    Best regards
    Bengt

It would  be helpful if you would list the computer you have.  If the drive is too full, try using an external drive (firewire) with a larger capacity than your internal, and dragging all your music and video on to it.  That should free
    up enough space for you.
As far as the Dock is concerned, go to System Preferences>Dock
and select the way you want it to appear.
