I have to reinstall Flash player on my Mac whenever I restart it, as I cannot play videos in Safari.

This has gone on for a while now - I can't play videos on You Tube or embedded videos in Facebook on Safari - there is either a blank box, or a message comes up to say 'Plug in failure'.  this is getting very frustrating!  Please help.

If that fails to resolve it, you may need to also delete the Flash Player folder from your  [User]/Library/Preferences folder
Toaccess it from Finder, hold the "Option" key and click Go>Library

I have to reinstall Flash Player (latest ver) everytime I start or restart my system (Win7, x64, IE10). • I am using Windows 7 and using IE 10, I have to reinstall Flash Player each time I start my computer

Hi I am using Windows 7 and IE 10 and I have to reinstall Flash Player each time I start my computer, even with a fresh install. The same thing is happening on my laptop and is driving me crazy. Does anyone have any suggestions to fix this problem. I have tried some suggested fixes from this forum with still no results. Thanks.

Make sure that you allow Firefox in your security software (firewall).
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.
    See:
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Firewalls
Try a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before reinstalling a fresh copy of Firefox.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    *Firefox 19.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible, to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
*Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you will also lose your personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.
If you keep having problems then also create a new profile.

Could you do the following please.
Click "Start" and then in the search box at the bottom of the menu, type: CMD
When you get the link, right click it and choose "Run As Administrator".
At the prompt, type CD\ and hit Enter. This will take you to the root.
Next, type: net user administrator /active:yes and hit Enter to enable the hidden Administrator account.
Type: EXIT to close the command prompt.
Reboot the machine and you'll see an additional logon option called Administrator. Choose that and then hit Enter to boot to the desktop (the Aministrator account doesn't have a password by default).
Disable your antivirus to prevent it interfering with the installation. If you have AVAST antivirus, right click the orange icon in systray, go to Avast Shields Control and disable all shields for 1 hour. Otherwise consult this list for instructions on how to disable it: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic114351.html
Next, download Flash for Internet Explorer from here: http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax_64bit.exe
When you see the prompt, click "Run" to install it immediately.
After the installation completes, open a command prompt again and type: net user administrator /active:no to disable the Administrator account.
Reboot the machine and then open Internet Explorer.
    Click "Tools", then "Manage Add-ons".
In the dropdown menu on the left near the bottom (see screenshot), choose "Run without permission".
Scroll down to "Adobe Systems Incorporated" and verify that "Shockwave Flash Object" is installed and enabled. If it's present, but disabled, click the "Enable" button bottom left of that menu.
Finally, re-enable you antivirus and reboot again. Check the "Manage Add-ons" menu to verify that Flash is still present.

  • HT2506 After updating my system to Mountain Lion 10.8.2 I can no longer view videos on Facebook or other sites. The only one I can view videos on is youtube. I have downloaded Adobe Flash player and still no luck. I cannot even open Preview on my computer

After updating my system to Mountain Lion 10.8.2 I can no longer view videos on Facebook or other sites. The only one I can view videos on is youtube. I have downloaded Adobe Flash player and still no luck. I cannot even open Preview on my computer anymore. Any ideas would be helpful thanks

Merely clicking the Preview icon in the Dock doesn't cause it to open anything, unless you had one or more windows open the last time it quit.
If you're sure you've installed the latest version of Flash, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test.
    1. If you're getting a "blocked plug-in" error, triple-click the line below to select it:
/Library/Internet Plug-Ins Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
    Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu. A folder should open. If there is more than one item in the folder with the words "Flash Player" (not "flashplayer") in the name, open the respective Info windows, check the version numbers, and delete all except the latest. You may be prompted for your login password. If you get the same error after doing that, re-download and reinstall Flash. Download it from this page:
Adobe - Install Adobe Flash Player
Never download a Flash update from anywhere else.
    2. If you get a "missing plug-in" error, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
from the Safari menu bar and check the box marked Enable plug-ins.
    3. Select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them.
    4. In the Safari preference window, select
Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
    Close the window. Then select
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.

  • Have to reinstall Flash after every reboot.

Windows 7 - IE9 - Flash version 11.0.1.152 - Plugins and OS up to date - ESET Smart Securty 4
I get prompted to install new version of Flash after a reboot, so it happens at least once a day.
I install Flash and it installs just fine and works until the PC boots up again.
I tried some of the following:
    - Use Adobe Flash Uninstall program before installing
    - Using standalone install program
    - Checked ActiveX Filter and it was off...turning it on causes
this same behavior, but the problem I have has nothing to do with the filter
Not sure when this started, but the user didn't have this problem until recently.
I am using ESET Smart Security 4. On all our systems, and his PC is the only
one that is having a problem. Need some pretty hard evidence before I bother
with uninstalling ESET just to see if that would help.
The part that is really strange...if I go to manage add-on's while it is working,
I see the Flash player there and Adobe's name there and that it is enabled.
After I reboot and go into the add-on manager, Flash is still there and still
enabled, but it now says "Unknown" instead of "Adobe" and is no longer
listed near the other Adobe programs. But then, when I reinstall it, that gets
"fixed" and now says Adobe again. So it almost seems like an IE9 problem
and possibly a corruption problem. No known problems with the PC. I suppose
that reloading the PC from scratch would fix the problem...at least I hope it would,
but I'm also not ready to do major surgery if there is an easier fix.

    sorry no hablo ingless

I also downloaded that Nirsoft tool, and on my (64-bit) system I also only see the ocx and exe registered.  But everything works well on my system. So I currently have no other ideas.  Hopefully someone from the Adobe team will have a look at this topic.

I have installed adobe flash player on my computer and this is not working please help

  • Trying to uninstall and reinstall Flash Player.

    32bit IE on WinXP
Trying to do a fresh install of my Flash Player.  I use the Adobe uninstaller on ver 10.2.  Check the Adobe page and it shows that I have no Flash player installed.  I then restart my computer and go to the Adobe page which shows the Flash player version and it says I have ver 10.1.102.64. I was under the assumption that the uninstaller would remove all versions of flash.  Searches on Adobe's page always bring me back to the same uninstaller.
Any clues on how to make this go away? The end result is it is affecting my ability to use my PlayOn media server through my Roku device.
    Thanks!

This is very weird; you only have the new Flash Player files in the install folder.
On IE, Tools, Add-ons, can you see Shockwave Flash Object, and what version does it show?  Also, does it have a path to that object?
Use Windows Search to look for any old Flash files on your C: drive - look for flash*.ocx

  • How can I install Adobe flash player on my Mac using Safari OR Chrome? I have gone through every step on all of the help pages. The installation process always stops with the black box that briefly says, "Retrieving Install . . . ", then nothing.

I have followed every step in the various help pages I was directed to when troubleshooting the inability to install Adobe Flash Player on my Mac using either Safari or Chrome. Everything has failed. I always get the black box that says briefly, "Retrieving instal. . . " and then goes blank. When I close that window, I get the message, "Adobe Flash Player could not be installed." Then it gives some links to follow for troubleshooting. I have followed ALL of the links there and on other help pages, to no avail. I've run into problems installing Adobe before, but it's never been this bad. Would someone please develop another format besides Adobe? Trying to get help from Adobe feels a little like trying to find a building in New York City with no map or GPS. The time required is voluminous, the emotional energy a/k/a frustration is overwhelming, and long before I get anything resolved, I wish the earth would open up and swallow all things Adobe@. Absence that miraculous intervention, I have to figure out what to do next. Does anyone know? Anyone?

Same question, same answer: use the offline installer http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/latest/help/install_flash_player_osx.dmg

  • I have been trying for days to upgrade Flash Player on my Mac (Mac OS 10.8.3, Safari 6.0.4

I have been trying for days to upgrade Flash Player on my Mac (Mac OS 10.8.3, Safari 6.0.4, current Flash Player version 11.6.602.180), but each time that I download the installer and run it, there is a "General installation error" soon after starting the "Installing" phase.
Each time, the installer completes the "Creating Install" and "Downloading" phases, but soon after starting the "Installing" phase, an error occurs "Error: General installation error" and Safari is opened tohttp://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/completion/aih/?exitcode=30&type=inst all&appid=500
Is it unusual for another "Install Adobe Flash Player" app to open?  When the "Installing" phase begins, a second flash installer box icon appears in the dock, but then closes immediately and then the first installer shows the "Error: General installation error" page.

    Try this installer http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/mac/install_flash_playe r_11_osx.dmg
