  • How to sync when you have too much music

I have too much music on my computer to sync onto my IPAD.  How do I make lists only and where do I change the settings?

You can create playlists on your computer's iTunes via File > New Playlist or File > New Smart Playlist . Smart playlists can be updated automatically by iTunes e.g. you can create smart playlists that contain a particular music genre and they will be updated automatically if you add music of that genre to iTunes, or you might have a smart playlist of 5* rated tracks etc
When you the sync music to the iPad, then on the device's Music tab you can select which playlist(s) to sync to the iPad

  • Can someone tell me if there is a way to sync address book, calendar and mail ONLY, no music from Itunes to Iphone 4s from my Imac G5, OS 10.5.8? I bought a 16 GB and have too much music and no icloud on my machine (or my ipod 5th gen)

I was told I CANNOT only sync part of my music from  my Imac Itunes, and since I have an ipod and itunes with the music, I don't really need it on my iphone, but if I sync all the rest, is it going to sync the music too! It is too much data if it does!!  And did Icloud take the place of "mobile me". If so can that be used to get some music if I want to from my hard drive mac or ipod?

You were told wrong. You can sync only what you want to sync.
Yes, iCloud is taking place of Mobile Me over time. MM will be turned off in June of next year.
With iCloud, you can store the music in the cloud and download the tracks that you want to listen to without having to sync to your iTunes.

  • Too much music?

    Hi.
I've been trying to import all the music I have stored on my computer to iTunes, but somehow iTunes select only a part of it. Sometimes an error shows too, saying iTunes failed importing/copying :C-disc or something. Could it be that I have too much music for iTunes to handle? I've got all my music in the My Music-folder, and it's grown to about 12GB... A lot, but should that really be a problem?
I've tried importing files not choosing the 'import folder' but the other option, and I've read in this forum that in the old versions you could import several files in one go that way. I can only import one at a time. iTunes seems screwed up...
I could really need some help with this, because as it is now, my iPod is empty...

12 gigs is not too much for iTunes.
By any chance, if you look in Edit > Preferences > Advanced > General, do you have "Copy files to iTunes Music Folder..." checked? If so, uncheck it and try again. (If you are short of free hard drive space, that option will have trouble operating.)

  • Not getting all my music from iTunes I might have too much stored like ebooks how do I delete

I have a iPod touch but have noticed I am not getting new music I purchased from iTunes onto my touch. Not sure if I have too much other things like books etc using storage, how can I correct this

What exactly happens when you try to sync?
    Does iTunes see the iPod?
Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
If so have you done anything like update iTunes on the computer since it last successfully synced?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Does any media now sync to the iPod?

  • How much is too much music on itunes?

im uploading a lot of music onto my itunes, for two different ipods, and i dont know if i put too much music on if there will be a lag or anything
can someone please tell me how much music a computer can take before significantly slowing down?

As long as there's at least 1GB of space free on the hard disk at all times and the iTunes library isn't stored on the Finder's desktop, you shouldn't experience a major slowdown regardless of how big the iTunes library gets.

  • Can you overload iTunes w/too much music?

I have over 21000 tracks in my iTunes library, and I'm wondering if there is an upper limit of how many tracks iTunes can handle? My question is not regarding storage - I have an external drive with tons of space. My question is regarding the program itself - in recent months I have noticed that the program is running more and more slowly. It does not crash, but it tends to "think" more. Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm also trying to determine how large of a library iTunes can handle and how large some of the largest libraries out there are. I am currently running 46,000 items in my main library on the internal drive (total size around 340Gigs) and am having no problems at all with it. I have a couple of other separate libraries totaling around another 150GB that I'd like to combine with my main one currently at 340GB which would bring me up to about 500GB but have some concerns about how a library that big would perform.
I recently upgraded my 5 year old 1GHz iMac to a new 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Extreme iMac with 2GB ram, mostly because my growing iTunes library was too much of a drag on the slower processor. Clearly the bigger the library the more processor power and ram you need.
I run my library off my internal 750GB drive and use Apple Backup to back up the entire internal drive weekly to a 1TB external drive, so I always have a recent copy in case of drive failure.
I'd like to know anecdotally how large other people's extra large libraries are -- is anyone successfully running libraries bigger than 500GB, 700GB, 1TB?? I imagine there are mega users out there or possibly people using iTunes for commercial or professional applications that require jumbo libraries.

  • Too much music, too little ipod

    Hi,
I have about 140 gig of music on my imac. I have a big ipod classic and have no problems. My husband has an 8g ipod touch. Is there any other way to pick and save music for this little bugger other than going through the entire library and checking each song? This can take days with this much music.
    Thanks!

It's easier to use playlists and select to sync only selected playlists to your husband's iPod (in the Music tab). You can use playlists you already have, or make a new playlist just for him. You can drag whole albums or individual songs to his playlists. You can easily change his playlists by adding or deleting songs at will without affecting your library. This avoids problems with unchecked songs not playing in iTunes or on your iPod Classic.
