Could you please share the screen shot of the error message so that we can check and troubleshoot accordingly .
Is there any error number or code associated with the error message or it just says "unexpected error" ?
I would recommend you to try and install the Acrobat DC trial referring the following links .You could choose any of the following .Also make sure you disable all the third party software before you commence the installation .

When you have downloaded it, then clean out the old adobe reader and then try to install the latest one, i had to do this about a week ago and it solved the problem.

What version exactly did you buy? If you bought CS6, then the license is perpetual and doesn't need any extension. If you bought CC, then you need to renew your plan every year. You can install each Adobe software on 2 machines with a single license for non-concurrent use.

Then, make sure you're logged in as an administrator and disable any anti-virus software before you install.

Haven't seen this. Have you tried: exporting other documents? closing Numbers and relaunching? restarting your Mac?

Because the Adobe help manager essentially ceased functioning as part of my Adobe CS6 installation I had to uninstall it. Now I am having great difficulty to locate the Adobe Help Manager on any of the Adobe download sites. Although I have the Adobe media disks for CS6, I don't want to reinstall the entire suit just to get back the Help manager

There is no other way. AHM only comes with teh suite install.

I have tried downloading firefox but the icon now has a 'no entry' sign over the firefox icon and it won't open. whats wrong!!!

I have been using firefox and was recently prompted to upgrade to a new firefox. I followed the instructions and dragged the icon into my apps folder. It had a 'no entry' sign on top of it which I didn't really understand. Now it won't start up and gives me a message saying 'You cannot open the application “Firefox” because it is not supported on this architecture'.

If you are on Windows, I would go to Control Panel>Programs & Features and do a repair.
