I have trouble updating iPhoto

I have trouble updating iPhoto. My friend bought MacBook Pro Retina for me and created first account. Since then I deleted his account and created my own. Now I can't update iPhoto because it is related to his account and App Store asks me to login with his account.
Any way I can make switch to my account?
Now updated to Mavericks and it says iPhoto is not compatible (since it was not updated) and my pictures are locked in since I can't update the app.
Thanks,
Miki

I meant iPhoto 9.0, part of iLife '11.  So if I buy iLife '11 on Amazon, it will only update to 9.0 (not 9.1.x)?
After installing iPhoto 9.0 from the iLife 11 disk you can update it to the latest version that will run on your 10.6.8  system, v9.2.3, via these updaters:
update to iPhoto 2.1
update to iPhoto 9.2.1
update to iPhoto 9.2.3

  • Trouble updating iPhoto library??

    Hi everyone,
I have a new 13" MBP (Mavericks, i7, 16 GB, 256 GB) and I can't seem to update iPhoto.  It keeps telling me my library needs to be updated, despite the fact that I have only new photos on my machine.
I've downloaded the updater, installed it, and I still get the same message every time I start iPhoto.  Then the updater starts to download iPhoto's update again (now for the third time).  I had a MyBook Live (with my old library) on my network, but I've since removed it to see if that was the problem.  Still get the same results.
Anyone have any ideas what's going on here?
    Thanks, in advance....

I'm afraid that if I try to revert to iPhoto 4.0 I won't be able to view
    the older photos
My point was that iPhoto does nothing to the images to make them less viewable in another version. The warning has to do with the database structure. If you change the name of your iPhoto Library folder, it will force iPhoto to let you create a new library on the next launch. If worse came to worse, you could then quit iPhoto, drag your old iPhoto Library folder into the new one, and force iPhoto to rebuild (just don't expect any of your keyword or album assignments to survive).
Have you attempted to just rebuild the existing library database? I suspect it has corruption that's causing the hang you've observed. Again, you might lose some keyword or album information, but only as much as is already corrupt anyway.

  • I'm having trouble updating iPhoto and iMovie.

This has been an ongoing issue that I just get aggravated and stop trying for awhile.  Updated to OS X Mavericks and now I can't even access iPhoto.  It says this version can't be used with OS X.  Everytime I try to update iPhoto and iMovie, I get a message saying it was purchased using another ID.  I bought the computer brand new and set it up with the one and only ID I have.  iPhoto and iMovie were preinstalled.  Anyone have any suggestions?  I do NOT want to delete them, pay to download them and then request a refund because I don't want to lose all of my photos.  I didn't worry about it much until my husband did the OS X Mavericks update and now iPhoto isn't compatible to even open anymore.  Please help!

    Congratulations!
Everything is great---except when alerted to updates for iMovie and/or iPhoto I'm instructed: "To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it".
NO need to re-purchase. Launch the App Store from the Applications folder or dock icon. Follow as the alert instructed, i.e., sign in with your Apple ID and password. Click on the Updates icon (near the top of the App Store window). The Updates window will list iPhoto and iMovie. Click the UPDATE button for each.
Note: This is based on my experience with having iLife 11 on disk prior to getting a new MBP last July.)
    Hope this helps.

  • HT1338 I'm having trouble updating iPhoto

I have an Update for Iphoto but when I try to download it, it says an error has occurred and it won't download
    Can anyone help please?

If you meant "upgrading to" and not "upgrading from", then I find the best way is to connect the device to power, have a good wifi connection, and use the general tab, software update on the device itself.  This will download a delta update that is much smaller in size than using iTunes to do the update.
For example, when I updated to 7.0.6 it was ~50MB download.  I grew tired to downloading 1GB via the iTunes method.

  • Trouble updating iphoto

I just downloaded Mavericks and I can't access iphoto because it's not compatible. When I try to update iphoto I get the message "This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled." How do I find out what user name or Apple ID we were using back then? Thank you, Alf

  • Trouble updating iPhoto 11 v. 9.4.2 on OS X v. 10.8.5. to v. 9.4.3.

I am running iPhoto 11 v. 9.4.2 on OS X v. 10.8.5.  I am trying to update to v. 9.4.3.  I am prompted to run the update through Software Update which opens up the App Store where no update is listed.  iPhoto came with my computer when I orginally purchased it back in 2008.  I have never had a problem upgrading before.  iPhoto is not listed in the purchased apps section in the App Store.  In other words, it does not seem to have migrated over.  When I tired simply purchasing the new version from the App Store it said that the program was already installed and it would not allow a reinstall.  I have tried uninsalling and reinstalling iPhoto with the original disk, but to no avail.  I have tried downloading the file and updating to v. 9.4.3 manually, but the system prompt tells me that I have to have v. 9.1 or higher installed.  I'm already opperating v. 9.4.2.  I have even tried installing previous versions of iPhoto including v. 9.1 and it gives me the same prompt.  I have reset permissions.  I have delted the plist files.  I am pretty tech savy, but absolutely befuddeled with this one.  Any advice would be much appreciated!

    First Try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
or with Lion and Mt. Lion from the User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto/
    Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
If that doesn't help apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Why do I have trouble opening iPhoto?

I was going to check my photos in iPhoto when the app suddenly refused to open and said it needed a re-install. It said that it will send a report to Apple but so far I have received nothing. TI also happen to experience similar problems when opening Garageband.

suddenly refused to open and said it needed a re-install. It said that it will send a report to Apple but so far I have received nothing.
What is the exact error message you have seen?   It looks like you have seen an error panel like this:
When you click the "Report" button, you will see a crash report message  like this:
Copy and paste the Problem Details into your next post. The first 50 lines should suffice.

  • Does anyone else have trouble with IPhoto losing pictures after they've been edited?

    Hi!
Just wondering if anyone else has this problem, or if it's just me.
IPhoto has a nasty habit of losing my photos, usually after I've edited them.  I look in both the IPhoto Trash and the desktop trash, but they aren't there.  I can see them in IPhoto (and can even click on them to edit them again), but if I try to export them or attach them to an email, I get a message saying the file contains 0 kb.
Very frustrating!  Especially since I'm being paid to do the photos.
    Any suggestions or ideas?
    Thanks!

Do a revert to original on a couple of those photos and try again to export or email. Do they export or email OK?  As a test  launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos and test to see if the same problem persists. Does it?

  • I have troubles updating the Creative Cloud desktop, what shoud I do?

Everytime I try to update after the download is almost done, a box appears saying that another Creative Cloud desktop is running and that I need to quit that instance first, but I don't see anything. I click retry but nothing happens, what should I do?

    Hi agv89,
    Welcome to the Community!
Restart the machine and try to download again, if that doesn't work then try the below steps.
Are you using Windows? if yes, please open Task manager press (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) at the same time and click on Processes. Check if any CCapp.exe or any other process of Adobe is running like AAM notifier or AAM, if yes end the process and start the download once again.
    Thanks,
