I have two "Birthdays" categories in my Ical

Hi
I suddenly have two "birthday" categories in my Ical which means that every birthday is showed twice which is very annoying. Can anybody help me with this problem?
/Kudsk

Hi guys,
The worst came to me very soon after my previous post: I got "three" copies of each birthday subscribed from Address Book on my iCal. I noticed one thing though. There were three duplicates of each contact in my Address Book.
My workaround was going through my Address Book and deleted the duplicates one by one. To make the job more tedious, the cursor jumped funnily while I was trying to highlight each duplicate. It was a great pain for me as I had to delete 764 duplicated contacts to get my 382 contacts back to their original states. I then quit Address Book and iCal, and re-opened iCal but the duplicated birthdays still persisted. They went away only when I unchecked birthday subscription from Address Book in iCal preference and quit iCal then re-opened iCal and subscribed birthday from Address Book again.
I have no idea why it happened this way. I guess it must have been a bug or two in syncing among my MacBook and Backup and iDisk.
It was a very painful process but it solved my problem. I hope someone would come up with a better solution if there is one.
Good luck,
Chacrit

  • I have two birthday reminders for single contacts?

Firstly, I apologise if this has been asked elsewhere but it was proving difficult to search through all the other threads.
Ok so for some reason i've got two different birthday reminders for some contacts. I'm using Windows Live Mail and I synced all my contacts from there onto my ipod and the birthdays have carried over (I think, not sure if all of them but hey). I am sure that I did manually put the birthdays in for a couple of contacts a while before I synced all the contacts from WLM so that could be the reason for some, but there are definitely others which I couldn't have done - reason being I don't know the date of their birthday. One has a red dot next to it, the other is a picture of a present/gift.
    Here's a screenshot:
Now if possible, I would prefer to have them all just as the one with the present next to it... so anyone know what's going on here?
Also, some of them show up with the nickname instead of the full name (I fixed them all before I synced). I double-checked in WLM and in the contacts folder in my document and this guy had an empty box for 'nickname' on both accounts.... yet it still shows up as his nickname
So anyone know how to fix this? I'm a bit of an OCD freak so it's driving me insane haha
    Thanks

Not to worry. When you imported your calendars from Windows Live, it synced the birthdays you had there. Since you also entered the birthdays for some of the same people on their contact information as well, it shows up twice because it automatically pushed the birthday to the calendar. You have to choose between Windows Live calendars or your device's conatcts. Essentially speaking, it would the best decision to choose the one that has the most birthdays already entered. I'll give you both scenarios, however:
If you want to get rid of the Windows Live birthday:
-Tap the event that has the dot next to it
    -Edit the event
-Delete the event (and all recurring events)
**I believe this will also delete the event across all other devices that have the Windows Live account synced
If you want to get rid of the contact's birthday that you entered manually:
-Go into your Contacts on your iOS device
-Go to the contact that has the birthday that is repeated (for example, the pictures that you included: "Calum Leask.")
    -Edit the contact
-Remove the birthday from the contact
I hope I was of help

  • I need to have two time zones on the same iCal appointment

I work accross four time zones, two of which do not observe Daylight Saving Time (DST). This means that when I'm booking my flights on iCal, it would be usefull to have two time zones in the same iCal appointment (Outlook, for instance, allows this). What I currently do is to choose one of the time zones as the iCal appointment and then I "translate" the other time to the one I'm using on iCal.
This is quite a challenge, though:
if I'm taking a flight from Luanda (WAT = GMT+1, no DST) to London (GMT with DST) I would like to book it on iCal exactly like it shows on the ticket , 21:00 (WAT) to 06:00 (GMT).
Using the "translated approach", from May to October, this means 21:00 (GMT) to 06:00 (GMT).
Using the same approach, from November to April it means from 20:00 (GMT) to 06:00 (GMT).
If I include Jo'burg (CAT = GMT+2, no DST) and Frankfurt (GMT+1 with DST), booking flights in your calendar becomes quite a challenge!
Does anyone know if this feature is planned for any future versions of iCal?

    Hi,
This is not possible in iCal. The nearest thing would be to create two events, one for take off and one for landing.
Also, this is a user to user forum. By posting here you are not guaranteed someone from Apple will read it. If you'd like Apple to know about your suggestion I reccommend you send them feedback.
    Best wishes

  • Why do I have multiple birthdays showing in iCal on my iPad using iOS 6?

For some reason some of my birthdays are showing up as duplicates in my iCal on my iPad.  I have my calendars sync'd with Google Calendars and one of those calendars is my birthday callendar that I have setup in Google Canlendars.  Only some of the birthdays show up duplicated and others do not.  I can't seem to find any rhym or reason to why some are and some are not.  Anybody having the same problem or have a solution?

The Calendar app pulls birthdays from the Contacts app.
If you also have another Birthday calendar with the same birthdays, they will show up twice.

  • Why do I have multiple birthdays listed in ical for one person

Other devices show only single birthdays (iPhone, iPad, web based login to iCloud).  Just the MBP shows multiple birthdays that are listed for individuals and usually three per individuals=.

The Calendar app pulls birthdays from the Contacts app.
If you also have another Birthday calendar with the same birthdays, they will show up twice.

  • Birthdays - Address Book and iCal

I have put birthdays in Address Book and enabled the Birthday Calendar in iCal preferences but none of the birthdays are showing up. Can anyone help with this?
Another thing is it possible to have iCal operate with a 24 hour clock - I have tried setting International preferences but to no avail.
    Thanks

I am also having problems with Birthdays and iCal.
Two problems, maybe related. First, some of the birthdays I enter are ones for co-workers in which I know the day and month, but not the year. So I have been taking the Apple Default (Address Book default) of year "0001". These bdays always seem to show in iCAL as occuring several days before their actual date (so June 3rd not June 5th).
Second, I just re-edited two of these in the Address book by putting in fake years that seemed reasonable (1980 or 1985 rather than 0001). The result of this is that now the birthdays I edited no longer show at all in iCAL.
I did follow the advise and go to ~/library/calendars/ and deleted two caches files. Nothing changed.

  • Updated to OS 3.0, have two listings for each contact... why?

Just updated to 3.0, and I quickly noticed more options for the Contacts app, but every listing I had prior now has two listings each.
At the top is "All Contacts" -
Below that "from my Mac", with groups from my Address Book from my Mac
and below that are contacts listed from Mobile Me.
I don't understand the options here, but someone didn't think this through. Does this mean those of us who sync with Mobile Me will have two listings if we pick the top "All Contacts" button?
    Doesn't seem very useful.

From another thread, about syncing the birthday calendar. http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=9649118#9649118
I had the same problem, which I solved as follows.
I did have a bit of trouble getting the birthday calendar off my phone from syncing all other cals over mobileme and birthdays through sync. I tried unchecking sync, but then the "All from the Mac" category in calendars just became "All on my iPhone". Instead, I turned off birthdays from ical prefs, then left sync calendars on, then synced and quit the sync of calendars as soon as it started, let the sync complete, then unchecked sync calendars, and they were finally gone. Then I did as you suggested and voila!

  • I have two phones sharing one icloud account. How do I keep the phones for sharing stock application information?

I have two iphones and three macbook pros. Instead of using my ical server to sync my calendar I am now using icloud to sync the calendars. Since I implemented this the stocks on each phone which were different are now same when the phone syncs. How do I break the syncing between the iphone stock applications?

    Welcome to the Apple community.
Ideally you should each have your own iCloud account, providing you with your own contacts, calendars etc, not doing so will result in exactly what you have experienced. The contacts have likely been lost due to the options you have chosen at the login stage on each device.
Unless you have the missing contacts in a backup file, they won't be recoverable unfortunately. You can add them manually to the contracts that already exist and continue to share the iCloud account if you wish, but I suggest that you each have your own iCloud account.
Note, you can each have your own iCloud account, but continue to share an iTunes account for purchases of apps, books, music, TV shows etc etc.

  • I seem to have two incomplete versions after migrating

Bought 2014 Mac Mini to eventually replace 2009 Mac Mini running Lion 10.7.5.  Connected via ethernet cable and did set up and migration assistant.  Somewhere in the process it needed me to rename an account and now I have two admin users but neither version has all my stuff.
One version has no contacts, calendar, iTunes and the iCloud drive spins endlessly trying to set up.  iPhoto did migrate.  My documents from the 2009 are there too.  Mail and contacts are not checked in the iCloud drive set up but I can't get access to change.  I get the message iTunes needs a library to continue.  with quit, create library and choose library as choices.
Second version does not have iPhoto or documents.  iCloud drive is not set up.  Does have contacts, iCal, iTunes.
I do not know how to get everything in one account!
I still have the ethernet connected to both.  Is there a specific way to disconnect without causing an further issues? .  I am afraid of disconnecting anything for fear of making it worse!
I need to keep the 2009 mini as I am taking an online class and have various programs downloaded to it that I don't want to go through the process of doing that on the new mini.  I would like to delete photos and documents from it in hopes of speeding it up a bit when I am 100% sure everything will be on the 2014 mini.  So far, since everything is still connected I am sitting here with two mice, one wired keyboard that I move from one computer to the other and one HDTV monitor.  I have the 2014 mini connected to the HDTV via a HDTV cable and that works fine.  I have the 2009 connected with an adapter and switch from RGB to HDTV when I want to use the 2014.
At some point I need to get MS Office moved from the 2009 to the 2014 but that is last on my list.
I am a beginner and need very specific directions.  I have learned everything I know via Apple support communities.  Thank you for any help!

Turn off File Sharing if it's enabled then disconnect the Ethernet cable. Don't do this if you have a transfer in progress.

  • I have two iCloud accounts.  How do I get rid of one?

Apparently when I moved from MobileMe to iCloud, I inadvertantly now have two Apple accounts.  How do I clean this up and have only one?

Since your phone has all your mail, calendar and contact info and you are signed in with your @me.com account all your data should also be on Apple's iCloud servers. Log in at http://icloud.com and confirm that all the data is there. Make sure that the data on iCloud is correct and up to date. If it is not let me know.
If the data is all there, then on your Mac, from System Preferences, log out of both MobileMe and iCloud. Now, launch Mail, iCal and Address Book and make sure all MobileMe and iCloud accounts have been logged out. You do that by checking the Preferences for each app. You should delete any data that is still in those apps since you will be pulling in fresh data from the iCloud servers.
Now in System Preferences, using iCloud, log back in using your @me.com account. This will sync your Mac up with all the data on the server and everything should work the way you want it to.

  • Apple ID issues? i think i have two accounts but i cannot find out the password for the one that controols my apps!? please help!

I think I have two apple ID accounts.
The account I am using right now is Alexiaann22. Im like 99.9999% possitive that before this was my origonal account(rosepetttals).
When I am buying an app in the app store the apple id is already there and all you have to do is change the password. But the apple ID thaat is there is the Rosepetttals.
I am no longer using that email so I cannot get the password sent to it. I also cannot retrieve the password for rosepetttals because it says that the birthday I am entering is incorrect. but im pretty sure I would know my own birthday.
I know its alittle confusing but I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks you!

I am having this same issue, please help asap... I cannot listen to half of my music library and have never encountered this issue before.

  • ICloud - have two iPads and one Macbook and want to sync reminders on all three

iCloud - have two iPads and one Macbook and want to sync reminders on all three. I have managed to get the Macbook and one iPad to sync, but wjat about the other iPad?

First check that all your settings are correct, that reminders syncing (calendars on a computer) is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the reminders you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' account and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone'  or other non iCloud account (you can do this by checking in accounts on an iOS device by tapping the icon with three lines in the top left corner of the screen, or the right side panel by clicking on the small triangle to the right of the word 'Reminders' in iCal on a computer), non iCloud reminders will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your reminders are in the iCloud group, you might try unchecking reminders syncing (calendars syncing on a computer) in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling notes syncing.

  • Once I have synced my Google calendar to iCal, can I turn off syncing and save all info in iCal?

I have been using Google Calendar, and syncing info from it to my Mac, iPad and iPhone. Now that all the info I originally entered into Google Calendar is on my Apple devices, can I turn off syncing it and save all the events, birthdays, etc. that were put into iCal up to this point? I have only been adding to my iCal via the Mac, iPad or iPhone for several months now, so it seems silly to keep using Google Calendar.

Unless you have backed up your iCal data, there is no way to retrieve the now missing data. To easily back up your calendar data, simply choose the Back up Database… option under the File menu in iCal.
Microsoft cautions users that deletion of the Entourage calendar in iCal—without first disabling the synchronization function with Entourage—will result in exactly the outcome you see.
If you have not subsequently synchronized with .Mac since you deleted the iCal calendar, you can selectively restore calendar files as a collection of calendars from .Mac by using the Reset Sync Data… option in the .Mac preference pane by launching System Preferences, pressing the .Mac icon then the Advanced tab, and waiting for your client list to update. Once you've done that, press the Reset Sync Data… button, choose Calendars from the drop down menu and pick the option to replace the data on your Macintosh with data stored on the .Mac servers.

  • I have 12 birthday calendars on my iPad; can't get rid of the duplicates

    iPad 2 GSM + WiFI
    iOS 5.0.1
    Macbook Pro (10.7.2)
I sync calendars from MS Exchange and iCloud. I do not have a local calendar on my iPad.
    I have tried...
    * Disabling my Exchange and iCloud calendars and then doing a sync with iTunes selecting one (or more) of the available calendars to sync from iCal and then also checking the box to overwrite all calendars stored on the iPad.
    * Removing my iCloud account entirely from my iPad
    * Removing all accounts from my iPad
    * Doing a complete restore to factory defaults and restoring from a backup
So the calendar is definitely not associated with MobileMe/iCloud and it won't let me remove them manually on the iPad. Anyone know how to get rid of these things? It's getting really annoying.

I have two, and this is terribly annoying and more so there's no fix.

  • Why do I have multiple "birthdays" on Calendar only on my Iphone?

Why do I have multiple "birthdays" on Calendar only on my iPhone?

It is probably related to your calendar syncing with certain services and/or apps that end up duplicating the entries. Investigate your sync settings like iCloud, facebook, etc or apps like Cobook which can sync your contacts/to facebook and gmail contacts. The birthdays for all of those would then show up in ical. If there is some kind of redundancy happening it might even resync the same info from the same place multiple times. If you can zero in on a particular service or app that might be the cause, try temporarily unsyncing it to ical/address book and see what happens.
