I have two PCs that I need to deauthorize so I can download tunes to my new laptop. Trouble is, they are both out of commission. Is there anyway I can deauthorize them remotely?

De-authorizing Computers (contributed by user John Galt)
You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
1. Open iTunes on a computer
2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.

It has always beenv ery basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion. Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If you have failed to backup, then you can redownload some content. Open itunes store, click Purchased, under Quick Links

Copy it from your old computer or your backup copy of your old computer.
The sync is one way - computer to ipod.

I have 2nd gen iPod nano with songs from iTunes but also burnt from CDs. I now have a new laptop currently without iTunes or any music on. Is there anyway for me to connect the iPod to iTunes on the laptop and not loose all of the songs on it?

Pretty much as it says above. I don't want to loose all my old songs that weren't downloaded and am wondering if there's anyway that I can make sure there safe to connect it to a new laptop with no music on at present.

First of all, there may well be an ownership issue. If your friend bought the music using their Apple ID, they own the music and you cannot play it. You can get around that, but it would definitely require computers, two iTunes apps on those computers, and more.
Next, even placing ownership issues aside, there is not really a way to transfer music. The app called "Bump" transfers some data between iPhones, but I don't think music is included.

With this new itunes I see you can download old song from other p.cs if they are listed in your itunes with a could next to them. How do I make it so I see the songs on my new itunes on a different computer?

When I first downloaded itunes 11 I saw all my old song that are on another computer listed in my itunes list on my laptop with a little cloud with an arrow in it next to the songs from my old itunes. When I updated to 11.1 the cloud icon stayed in the top part of the itunes list where you can click name, artist, all that to organize you itunes list but the songs from my old account were gone. I can't remember how, but some how I tuned the songs back on, if you will and all my old songs repaired with the clouds next to them. Well my boyfriend has the cloud smiple in his organize list thing, but no songs from his old itunes list of a different computer like me and he wants those songs back. I have been trying for hours to re-watch the itunes and icloud tutorials but because of my slow wi-fi I can't get the videos to load and they keep freezing my itunes so I can't even shut it down without restarting my laptop, so I need some help on remebering how to make the old songs show up in his itunes. If you go to settings>music there should be a setting to show all music. Turn that off, and the cloud purchases should disappear. You may need to restart the phone to take efect

I have my kids using iTunes via thier ipods etc through my own account and this hase been the case for some time?
This has started to cause issues lately with imessaging and facetime, as there seems to be a limit on email addresses that can be associated with one account?
I wonder if I would be best off setting the kids up with their own accounts, but want to be able to do this without them losing their existing apps, music etc?

Not going to happen the way you want it to.
When you add a gift card balance to the Apple ID, it's available for the Apple ID.
Probably best to create unique Apple ID's for each... this will also make things easier in the future as purchases are eternally tied to the Apple ID they were purchased with.

Help! I just imported my vacation photos and now they are missing in iPhoto! Is there any way to retrieve them?

I just "successfully imported" over 300 vacation photos. It asked me if I wanted to delete them from my camera and I said yes. I've done this hundreds of times over the past several years. Afterwards, I got sidetracked looking in another photo event and then did something on my phone (unrelated) when I noticed my screen went black. I figured I needed to charge my laptop, so I got the cord and plugged it in. After restarting, I went back into iPhoto and under my events there is a thumbnail for each day from vacation, but a generic black and white picture of a palm tree and no pictures in any of the events. My last import is of the pictures I loaded before this batch. I've looked everywhere and can't find them! This has never happened before! Is there any way to find the photos and restore them to iPhoto?

a best practice to is to never have any computer program (including iPhoto) delete the photos from the card but to import the photos and keep them and then after at least one successful backup cycle has completed and then reformat the card -- I use three very large (32 GB) cards in rotation so I do not reformat for typically a year or more giving me one more long term backup of my photos
You Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - from the resulting first aid window repair permissions and if necessary rebuild your database

If you are wondering why you are not getting any responses, it is because you have vented a complaint without any details that make any sense or give anyone something to work on.
If you want help, I suggest actually detailing what has happened, with versions of software etc. Anything that would let us assist.
As a start I am guessing that you have not really got the hang of "How it all works". Firstly download the Pages09_UserGuide.pdf from under the Help menu. Read that and view the Video Tutorials in the same place. A good addition would be the iWork 09 Missing manual book and something to help you learn how to use your Mac.

I strongly recommend you use compressor to do the conversion (if it will open the files - since quicktime will open them, it will more than likely do it.
Compressor allows you to customize presets and save them and apply them to multiple files. Although the interface may seem daunting, it's actually pretty simple.
Even if you can edit the avi in fcp, it's not a good idea. Liable to cause problems down the road.

You appear to have two issues: 1) a hard drive that is not working properly and 2) files you wish to recover.
Re 1) you need to answer Kappy's questions.
Re 2) does the drive load and can you see your photo files? If so can you copy them to another drive?
Do you not have a backup of the photo files?
