I have two versions of Flash Player

I have two versions of Flash Player, ActiveX and Plugin. Do I need both of them?

It is recommended to install both to ensure that Flash will work in as many browsers/third party apps as possible.  Apps like skype, microsoft office, adobe reader that use Flash Player may require the active X flash player.  Most browsers use the normal plugin.

  • Two versions of flash player appear in resource monitor

I tried loading recent version of Flash Player. The first time I got a message which said something to the effect that I was loading the program outside of library boundaries. I just checked OK and then had to start the loading of Flash Player again. It now appears that 2 versions have been loaded. This now is locking up my system or causing to run very slow. I did uncheck the Hardware Accelerator some time ago but it was still running slow even after that and before I loaded the lastest version (versions). Would appreciate someone giving me some advice. Thanks in advance.

    Have you scanned for adware?

  • Have two copies of flash player in add-ons file --- latest and old one --- how to get rid of old one....

In reviewing and updating add-on using add-on manager the manager screen shows two copies of adobe flash player --- 11.9 latest version and and old version 9.0....... How do i get rid of the 9.0 entry. The plug in for 9.0 doesn't show up in my control panel for installed programs.
    Thanks.
Also of what value is the java deployment tool kit.

    (1) You should be able to uncover the location of the other plugin from the '''about:plugins''' page (type or page about:plugins into the address bar and press Enter).
    (2) If it ''doesn't'' show there for some reason, on 32-bit Windows, Firefox generally finds the Flash Player plugin using registry entries that point into the Windows folder:
    C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash
The plugin files have the name following the pattern npswf...dll and the most recent should have a name similar to NPSWF32_11_9_900_152.dll. Can you find the old one there and delete it?
    (3) If the obsolete DLL file is not located there, either, it may have been dropped into the Firefox program folder. On 32-bit Windows, you could check for it here:
    C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\Plugins
    C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\browser\plugins
    (4) Still not found? In that case, you might need to look into the Windows registry for the information.

  • How would you setup users to have different versions of Flash Player?

I am looking to test some setups with different versions of Flash, but wanted to know how to setup one user to have Flash Player Version 6, one with version 7, 8, etc.
How would I go about doing this?
    Thanks,
    Russ

Create a new folder named Internet Plug-Ins inside the Library folder of the home folder of some of your user accounts, and move the different versions of the plugin into this folder, one per user account. The copy of the Flash plugin in the main Library folder is accessed when an account doesn't have a copy in its home folder.

  • Why are there two versions of flash player on my laptop?

I'm running 64 bit Windows 7 Professional which seems to handle both 32 and 64 bit software.  I use Firefox as my default browser and use MSIE only when I must.
A Flash update failed so I checked the uninstall programs list thinking I'll just uninstall and reinstall the latest.
Huh?  I found both "Flash Player 10 Active X" and "Flash Player 11 Plugin 64 bit."  Now I've no clue what failed to upgrade nor why there are two versions.  Why 10 AND 11 and why is one called "Active X" while the other is called "Plugin".
And, to confuse me further, there is also Adobe AIR.  I don't know what or why or how to deal with all of these.  Would somebody kindly explain?
And, how do I figure out what update to which failed?

The ActiveX Flash Player is used by Internet Explorer and the plug-in Flash Player is used by Firefox.
    Download the following files:
Uninstaller for 64 bit Operating Systems
    Flash Player for Internet Explorer
    Flash Player for other browsers
Close the browser and disconnect from the Internet.  Run the uninstaller and restart Windows.
Delete all remaining files and folders located in the following directories. (tip: copy and paste these paths into the path bar in an Windows Explorer window)
    C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash
    C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash
    %appdata%\Adobe\Flash Player
    %appdata%\Macromedia\Flash Player
Verify that the file “FlashPlayerCPLApp.cpl” in C:\Windows\SysWOW64\ system, has been deleted.
    Run both installers.

  • I have two versions of Flash installed - 9.0.45.0 and 16.0.0.235 - i cannot remove the old version which means websites will not recognise the new player. Help!

I have just downloaded the most recent version of Firefox and have this problem. Updating does not help. Setting the old version to 'never activate' deactivates'both. Please help - I am having to use Chrome!

    Hi.
It was here: C:\Windows\SysWOW64 - just deleted the exe and the dll.
Thanks very much for this very simple solution to a frustrating problem - now i can stop using Chrome. :)
    Have a great day.

  • Do IE and Firefox have their own versions of Flash Player

I have a very basic question. I have IE and Firefox. It looks like you need two versions of Flash Player, one for IE and another for Firefox. Is this true. If it is true, will the Firefox version overwrite the IE version or visa versa, when you install the Flash Player versions? In other words will they automatically coexist without messing each other? Thank you.

There are two versions of Flash Player
    ActiveX for Internet Explorer
    plugin for all other browsers
The two versions can coexist (there are different files for the two versions: Flashxx.ocx for IE, NPSWFxx.dll for other browsers).

  • I have  a newer version of flash player installed then what is listed as the most recent version??

    Hello,
I am checking the version i have installed of flash player via the adobe version check option at the site and i have version 11.8.800.94 and when i check the list of the latest versions of Adobe, i see 11.7.700.169 listed as being the latest vversion. How can i have a version installed that's above that? I haven't installed a beta version, never signed up for beta testing and all i did was install the latest version of flash player via the website.
I am wondering what this is cause recently when viewing videos on youtube, my videos tend to hang up or end halfway through and think the video ended when it's not. My guess now is that i have sumhow obtained a version of flash player that's not correct and thus why the videos go haywire now. Re-installing flash player sets it back to the 11.8 version again, so that didn't work.
Any information any1 might have that can solve this is much appreciated.

11.8.800.94 is the latest version for Windows and Mac. 11.8.800.115 is the latest beta version. http://helpx.adobe.com/en/flash-player/release-note/fp_118_air_38_release_notes.html

  • For the past week, I am unable to view videos. The page comes up with this comment: "Blocked plug-in" and it suggests that I download the latest version of Flash player. I have downloaded that and still get the same comment. Please help.

I have an iMac11.2 and am running Mac OS 10.6.8. I have not had a problem viewing videos until the past week or so. Now I cannot view videos on my news, facebook or in email messages at all. A message pops up in the window that says "Blocked plug-in". I have downloaded the latest version of Flash Player for which it asks and still no luck. Can anyone here help me with this? Thank you. Grace

TThere have been 3 updates to flash player ink the past month.
    download and install the latest.
this warning seems to be a part of the newer security updates.

  • Using two different versions of  Flash Player

While I realize that Flash Player is up to 10. something and a security update is available for it, one program I use over the net will not recognize anything over version 9x.  It seems like that internet application has trouble with version numbers over 1 initial digit.  Thus 5.x, 6.x, up to 9.x is recognized fine, but 10.x is not!
So, my question is:  While I would like to run the latest version of flash player with the security update, unless I can run version 9 or lower on the same computer, I will not be able to run verison 10 since I really need that program that only recognizes up to 9.  IS IT possible to have both versions on the same computer and if so, how would one direct the computer to use the lower one when necessary?

We're sorry to hear that your Firefox seems to be crashing when you open it. Please perform the following steps to give us a crash report ID that helps us find out more about the cause of the crash.
#Press the following shortcut to get a Run window: [Windows] + [R]. This should bring up a window that contains a text field.
#In that text field, enter %APPDATA% and press Enter. An explorer window should open.
#From that explorer window, double-click on the ''Mozilla'' folder, then double-click on ''Firefox'' and then on ''Crash reports''. Double-click on ''submitted''.
#Now, you should see a list of files that contain reports. Go to ''View'' > ''Arrange Icons by'' > ''Modified'' to get the most recent files at the top of the window.
#Open the most recent 5 files with a text editor and copy the IDs.
#Paste each ID with '''bp-''' into the reply window on the forums.
    Thanks in advance!

  • I have an older version of flash player in my new computer and I can't uninstall it it is system 32 and I have system 64 I am not much of a computer person and need help I keep getting pop ups saying there is a bad image

I have an older version of flash player that seems to be in my computer_16_0_0_305.exe and it says bad image
I could not uninstall it and put a new one in. I keep getting this pop up 2 and 3 times.

    Hi,
The Flash Player installer is a universal installer for both 32 and 64-bit systems.  On a 64-bit OS, it installs both versions, on a 32-bit OS, it installs only the 32-bit version.  I'm confused by why you think you only have the 32-bit version.  Please provide more information, including screenshots (How to post a screenshot in the forum) so that we may further troubleshoot your situation.
    Thank you.

    Hello,
    Safari, blocked plug-ins…
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5271

  • Why can't I install the latest version of Flash Player?  I have all plug-ins allowed.

Why can't I install the latest version of Flash Player?  I have all plug-ins allowed.

If you're sure you've installed the latest version of Flash, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test. For a "missing plug-in" error, start with Step 8. Back up all data before making any changes.
    Step 1
You might have to log out or restart the computer before a Flash update takes effect.
    Step 2
From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data...
and confirm. Close the window. Then select
               ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.
    Step 3
If you're only having trouble with YouTube videos, log in to YouTube and load this page. You may see a link with the text "Leave the HTML5 Trial." If so, click that link.
    Step 4
    a. If you get a warning of a "blocked" or "outdated" plug-in, then select the Security tab in the Safari preferences window. In the list of plugins on the left, there should be one—and only one—entry for "Adobe Flash Player," showing the same version number that you installed. Select that entry. On the right there will be a list of websites for which you have specifically allowed Flash, if any. It's normal for the list to be empty. Below that is a menu labeled
              When visiting other websites
From that menu, select either Allow or Ask.
    b. If you still get the alerts, then go back to the Flash Player preference pane and select the Advanced tab. Click Check Now. Quit and relaunch the browser.
    c. If the alerts still persist, triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Resources
Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
              Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open. Inside it, there should be a file named "XProtect.meta.plist". If that file is missing and you know why it's missing, restore it from a backup or copy it from another Mac running the same version of OS X. Otherwise, reinstall OS X.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    Step 5
In the Safari preferences window, select the Advanced tab and uncheck the box marked
              Stop plug-ins to save power
    Step 6
Open this folder as in Step 4:
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Delete the following item, or anything with a similar name, if present:
              Flash Player (failing).plugin
You may be prompted for your login password.
    Step 7
Re-download and reinstall Flash. Download it from the domain "get.adobe.com". Don't click a link from any other website, including this one, because you can't trust links. They may be an attempt to trick you into installing malware masquerading as Flash. Type the address into the browser window. Never download a Flash update from anywhere else.
    Step 8
If you get a "missing plug-in" error, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
from the Safari menu bar and check the box marked
              Allow (or Enable) plug-ins
    Then click the button marked
              Manage Website Settings...
if present and make sure that the website is not blocked for Flash.
    Step 9
    Select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them.

Since all Intel i3 processors have at least 2 cores, your specs are well above the requirements; see http://ark.intel.com/products/family/75025#@All
I have some computers with far slower processors, and Flash Player 14 works perfectly well on them too.
